I brought Baby Tears (Soleirolia Soleirolii) into the store for multiple reasons, but here's the most important:

It's incredibly soft, *needs* to be petted and is a lovely sensory experience for all, but especially helpful during anxiety attacks/stress as part of grounding.

We are beyond excited to not only be a stop on Uxbridge's Holiday Trail next week, but to host our childhood friend and fabulous musician Erin Blackstock Dec 6 from 5-8 pm!

Erin and I grew up a few houses apart in Zephyr, and I've watched her music career take off for decades. To have her sing in my brand new store is such an incredible full-circle moment for us.

Uxbridge's downtown will be lit up along Brock + Toronto streets, stores open late with shopping, giveaways, raffles and more.

Visit us to create a nature decor keepsake and free Nectar honey sample, along with hostess gifts, plants, preserves and curated goods.

Today's -20 temps harkens me back to this glorious August afternoon in my backyard gardens when I finally caught the Great Black Digger Wasps on camera! These beauties are the COOLEST - they are iridescent blue/black, 2-3 cm in size, pollinate, paralyze and eat other insects. "As a solitary species with no hive or sister workers, the female will dig about a foot beneath the soil and create a series of tunnels using her mouth and spiny legs. Each chamber is assigned an egg and a paralyzed insect to go with it. As soon as the larvae hatch, they will have a delicious meal to feed on as they develop." It was a HUGE accomplishment in my journey as a native plant and food grower to see these on my suburban homestead last summer - it means I've created a robust biodiverse environment where the Great Black Digger Wasps can thrive! When you come to the shop, you'll see them and Spotted Bee Balm as the centre stage of my mural 🩷

We are closed now until Wednesday at 11am, when we'll reopen with new plants and strawberry freezer jam! Until then, I'll be here with my girl Eleanor James, resting and recharging my social batteries. Thanks for a wonderful week, Uxbridge. See you soon! #restday #restock
