Pet Hospital on Main opened its doors in 2002 with the intention of creating a warm, friendly environment where families can bring their pets for exceptional medical care. Dr. Rachel Stadnyk took over Pet Hospital in 2018 and is excited to practice veterinary medicine in the town she and her family call home. Dr. Rachel Stadnyk and Dr. Eva Lee are skilled, compassionate veterinarians. Together they have many years experience keeping family pets happy and healthy.

As we continue to celebrate RVT Month - Have you ever wondered what an RVT does?

RVT's are highly skilled individuals that have graduated from an accredited college. They are required to pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) which allows them to become registered. They are also required to complete continuing education each year in order to maintain their registration status. This gives them the opportunity to continue learning new skills as this field is always evolving and changing.

RVT's wear many hats and just some of the things they are responsible for are:
🐾 Blood draws and catheter placements
🐾 Running lab work (blood, urinalysis, cytology, fecals)
🐾 Taking and developing radiographs
🐾 Monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery
🐾 Patient care during hospitalization
🐾 Calculating and administering medications
🐾 Filling and dispensing prescriptions
🐾 Client education
🐾 Assisting DVM's with appointments

The title ‘RVT’ is a legal credential. RVTs work hard to earn their “R”. Every RVT in Ontario attended an OAVT accredited Veterinary Technology college program, passed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam), completed a Professionalism and Ethics workshop and submitted a clear criminal record check to earn their credential
