As we continue to celebrate RVT Month - Have you ever wondered what an RVT does?

RVT's are highly skilled individuals that have graduated from an accredited college. They are required to pass the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) which allows them to become registered. They are also required to complete continuing education each year in order to maintain their registration status. This gives them the opportunity to continue learning new skills as this field is always evolving and changing.

RVT's wear many hats and just some of the things they are responsible for are:
🐾 Blood draws and catheter placements
🐾 Running lab work (blood, urinalysis, cytology, fecals)
🐾 Taking and developing radiographs
🐾 Monitoring anesthesia and assisting in surgery
🐾 Patient care during hospitalization
🐾 Calculating and administering medications
🐾 Filling and dispensing prescriptions
🐾 Client education
🐾 Assisting DVM's with appointments
