Uxbridge Cat Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue in Uxbridge, ON, Canada. We are a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of abused, neglected and unwanted cats. These cats come from owners (people who can no longer care for their animal), shelters and other rescue groups. The cats we rescue are usually homeless through no fault of their own. Generally, they are either
surrendered to us directly by their previous owners or come to us through shelters which are happy for our help. They are given up or dumped for various reasons though with most of our cats it's rarely related to their temperament. Once in our program the cats are placed in foster homes where they are assessed and provided with any needed medical attention. As with all animals, each cat is an individual and once we have a good idea of personality and needs we will search for a match for a new permanent home. To promote responsible pet ownership all rescue cats are placed either spayed/neutered. In the case of younger kittens, we ask for a commitment on the part of the new owner, to do this when age appropriate. Like other rescue groups our work relies on the generosity of our volunteers and the public. We ask adopters for a standard adoption fee which helps fund our extensive vet costs however in the end we must still rely on fundraising and donations.
