It’s that time of year again. Hockey season and Christmas! CK Vet Services is all set up! For every vaccine appointment from now until the new year we will be donating $10 to the Toy drive and the Food bank. Also thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors at the Festival of Trees. It was a great event. We couldn’t resist bringing home this tree and a beautiful wreath made by the staff of the library.

With it being Vet tech month we need to send some recognition to our one and only Vet Tech. Not only is she already a doctor, but she went back to school in 2019 and got her Tech license. It doesn’t stop there as she is now pursuing further education in small animal nutrition. The tasks are endless and include everything from answering client calls, to monitoring anesthesia, taking X-rays, drawing up prescriptions, paperwork, cleaning, autoclaving…and so much more! For all you do THANK YOU!

We recently attended the Jump for Hope horse show in Edmonton. A very special show and charity event for kids with cancer. Dr. Kiepal placed 4th in the $10,000 mini-prix and Sophia Kiepal and I combined for the horse and hound relay to place 7th a pretty great finish for Sophie’s first time running her dog at a big competition. The best part it was for a great cause. CK Vet services sponsored some classes and donated to the silent auction. Congrats to all the competitors.

It was a busy breeding and foaling season here. With the last mare confirmed in foal we are done for this season. We are wishing everyone out there good luck with their 2025 foals and happy breeding next year! Looking forward to next season, more new faces, repeat customers, fun and learning.

Attention to all clients travelling to the USA with dogs. The CDC announces changes for dogs travelling to the United States starting August 1st. Dogs will require a microchip and this microchip must be implanted before the required rabies vaccine. This means if your dog was vaccinated for rabies but not microchipped you MUST have your dog microchipped and revaccinated for rabies. There is also additional paperwork that must be filled out by the owner including a photograph of your dog. Please reach out if you have question.

Dr. Chris is coaching this weekend at the soccer tournament here in Valleyview. It should be lots of fun. There is a fundraiser BBQ as well. Come out if you can!

Edit. We had hoped to have a decision by Monday but due to the high number of applicants and to be be sure all resumes and applications get reviewed carefully we will need a little longer.

We are looking for a receptionist/kennel attendant. We are looking for a responsible, motivated person who loves pets. The main job roles will consist of walking and feeding dogs, cleaning kennels, assisting with appointments, interacting with pet owners, answering phones from time to time, preparing bills, and other administrative tasks as required. The individual should have strong customer-service skills, be self-motivated, be able to work on their own, and above all must love pets! Looking for someone 2-3 days a week with more days available if desired. Salary starting at $21/HR with much room to move up.

This mini goat broke his leg in a feeder. He is a very well loved little guy and his owners decided to fix his leg. That means we spent our morning plating a fracture for this little goat. He is doing great this afternoon and should be back to himself in no time!

Spring is in the air and this means breeding season is fast approaching. It also means foaling season is underway. Such an exciting time! Looking forward to meeting many new faces this season as we embark on the breeding journey with our clients new and old. For those who booked their breeding spots with us thank you for trusting us with your mares. Just a reminder to double check your mare’s vaccine and deworming history before getting started.
