A long overdue introduction to our wonderful pet sitter, Megan ❤️

Hey, I’m Megan - a part-time pet sitter for Bark Avenue Dog Adventures! I was born and raised in Kelowna, and have been living in Vancouver since 2004. I currently work remotely as a graphic designer by day, and have started pet sitting this past year. My passion for all things ‘dog’ started as far back as I can remember. From puppies to seniors, I have experience with numerous dog breeds from many diverse backgrounds - including rescues and those that have complicated health issues. While I enjoy and embrace the unique personality of every dog I meet, I have a particular soft spot for those pups that struggle with reactivity, anxiety, or any other big feelings that require a little extra patience and understanding to make them feel safe and comfortable. I follow positive reinforcement methodologies and am also certified in Pet First Aid.

Meet Kristen, the newest addition to the Bark Ave team. We are so excited to be walking with her & her beautiful rescue pup, Eddie🐶💚

Hi, I’m Kristen, a part-time dog walker with Bark Avenue Dog Adventures! While originally from Halifax, I made my way to Vancouver in 2016 for grad school and to take advantage of the beautiful West Coast! Since moving, I’ve volunteered with rescue organizations in Vancouver and have worked as a foster care provider for rescue dogs. I have experience with a wide range of dog behaviours, in particular, anxious and reactive pups. I’m a firm believer in positive reinforcement training and aim to provide a safe and enriching space to allow the pups to be their unique and quirky selves!

Hi team! A couple of important reminders for you today

- I (Ava) will be away April 2-17. Ella & Kristen will be taking over all walks while I am gone. There will be NO ADDITIONAL BOOKINGS during this time. Please also expect a delay in response to texts/emails as I will not regularly be checking my phone.

- We will be taking Mar 29 (Good Friday) off. If you are in need of a walk this day please reach out and we will do our best to stop by. There will be NO GROUP WALKS, only LIMITED space for PRIVATE WALKS.

- Unfortunately Covid is making its rounds again 😷. Due to the nature of our job (entering clients homes) we cannot offer walks to any household that has confirmed Covid cases. If you have tested positive for Covid please let us know immediately and we will cancel walks.

It has been hard to find the words to make this post. We are beyond devastated to let you know that the sweetest, goofiest, life of the party, Knox has passed away.

Knox was one of those dogs that caught everyone’s attention (seriously I don’t think there was one walk he went on where people didn’t stop us to comment on how beautiful he was). He made best friends with every dog in the groups & on the trails. I like to think that he was the perfect “test dog” to place new dogs with because he knew how to make them feel welcome and he could ALWAYS get their zoomies out 😂
Knox always made us laugh, let us know when we were walking too slow or taking too long with the treats, and gave the best mid walk lovin’s ever.

Thank you to Knox’s mom, Megan for trusting us with your baby & allowing us to have so many amazing adventures with him. He was so fortunate to be so loved by so many people & dogs alike. We miss Knox immensely but we know he is still with us in every forest adventure ❤️ We love you so much Knox

In honour of National Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day yesterday I thought I would share some pictures of my sweet, perfect, angel boy, Putter who we lost last year ❤️ For 17 years he was the absolute love of life. I cannot remember a time that we didn’t have him. It’s still hard to visit home and not hear his little paws putting around the house or see his little face waiting at the back door for me. Putter is why I started working with dogs 4 years ago and is why Bark Avenue exists today. Sending love to all those who have lost their special pets ❤️🌈

Georgie is a 9 year old lab who enjoys long walks on the beach, alllllll the treats, & playing with sticks. He takes his job as squirrel patrol VERY seriously and always makes sure to alert us to any unwanted squirrel behaviour in the area 🚫🐿️
We love you so much Georgie 🐶❤️

We’re delighted to welcome Ella to the Bark Avenue Team! 🐾💚

Ella is originally from Manchester, UK, and moved to Vancouver in
2017. Prior to moving to Canada, Ella helped to train and socialise assistance dog puppies. She uses positive reinforcement techniques, and has experience with reactive and anxious dogs.

Ella has joined the team as a full-time dog walker and pet sitter. We currently have AVAILABILITY for our ON and OFF-LEASH GROUPS. Reach out if you would like to set-up a FREE Meet & Greet! 😊

Super late introduction post for the sweetest girl, Nube 🩷 Nube meaning cloud in Spanish, is a gorgeous rescue from Mexico now living her best life here in Vancouver! She really lives up to her name, not only because of her colour but she’s seriously the softest dog I’ve ever pet. Nube started out doing private walks and is now enjoying her on leash group walks out at pacific spirit park! I’m so happy to have you apart of our crew Nube 🩷☁️

Hi Bark Ave team!! I wanted to hop on & remind you that I will be out of town June 7-17, visiting one of my best friends & living my pre teen dreams of seeing Harry Styles live at Wembley Stadium 🇬🇧❤️😂

As much as I adore this job (& hate being away from the dogs 😢) I am definitely in need of a bit of a break. During this time off I will not be answering any texts. I will be checking my email & Instagram periodically so if you need to get ahold of me please do so through there.

I also wanted to thank each and every one of you who have followed & supported my little dog walking company 🩷🐶 To my wonderful clients - thank you for trusting me with your fur babies. I truly love each and every one of them as if they were my own. I’m so thankful to work with such amazing people & pups.

Hi everyone!! As some of you may know there have been some big changes here at Bark Avenue. I am so excited to introduce you to our newest team member Jessika (Jess) to the team!! Jess, pictured with her gorgeous boy Enzo, is originally from Calgary & has been living in Vancouver for 3 years now. She has been working with dogs (& horses) from a very young age and even started her own dog walking company while she was in high school. Since then she has worked as a vet clinic, done a multitude of dog sitting, and has been dog walking for a company that specializes in reactive dogs. Jess has been fortunate enough to work alongside some incredible trainers and applies the techniques she’s learned into her walks. She practices force free, +R and has even begun to apply some of her knowledge in horse training to dog training as well! Jess strongly believes that all dogs, no matter the circumstance (intact, reactive, anxious) deserve the same opportunities for adventures, socializing and just having fun. So excited for this new chapter with you Jess!!! 🐶❤️

We are so excited to welcome our newest pet sitter, Aoife to the Bark Ave team!! Aoife moved to Vancouver from Ireland last June and has been pet sitting ever since. She loves forming deep, loving connections with the pets she meets and believes that life is much more fun when you’re hanging out with dogs all day (we strongly agree). You can relax knowing that Aoife is providing a fun, comfortable & loving environment for your fur babies while you are out of town. So happy to have you Aoife!! 🐾❤️

Not every dog has great recall! Whether they are young and still working on recall or they just love to chase squirrels, off-leash settings can be overstimulating! We want to give these pups an opportunity to socialize with friends on gorgeous trails while remaining on-leash!!

PSA TO ALL DOG OWNERS, PLEASE READ
As some of you know, our girl Rizzo was not on her group walks this week. Unfortunately Rizzo ingested human f***s that had methamphetamine in it. The vets at the hospital let Rizzo’s mom know that this is something that occurs quite frequently so we felt it was important to let pet parents know to be hyper aware on walks, especially in urban areas such as downtown or Olympic village. Fortunately Rizzo is now home with mom and expected to make a full recovery.
We love you Riz ❤️ your walking crews can’t wait to have you back.
