Welcome to Dog Re-Doo Bags!
The reusable dog p**p bag
Our family has made many swaps from plastic to reusables. Shopping bags, sandwich/snack bags, produce bags, take out containers, cutlery, cups and such. But we have two dogs that we walk several times a day and I looked but could not find a reusable option for dog p**p bags. I decided to give it a go and made my own using laminated fabric and have successfully used three for 2 1/2 years. I received encouragement from classmates in the Vancouver Master Recycler 2020 program to bring these out for others to use.
They are used in the same way as the single use plastic ones but instead of tossing it, the waste goes into the toilet (as City of Vancouver encourages), then the laminated fabric bag rinses in the fresh flush water and is hung to dry until next time. I rotate my bags, so as I hang one, I take the dry one over to the leashes for our next walk. I use the same bag multiple times per walk with my two dogs but my husband prefers to use two bags per walk. Responding to feedback on storage, I made an optional "Leash Pocket" that go on the leash handle to free up hands for training treats, coffee, etc.
The bags come in three sizes:
Small with a 6" opening, suggested for dogs under 15 pounds.
Medium with a 8" opening, for dogs between 15-55 pounds.
Large with a 10" opening for bigger dogs or for more than 2 dogs on a walk.
Pricing:
$6 a bag
$16 for two bags and a Leash Pocket
Postage within Canada is $2 for up to 4 bags
Payment via E-transfer to my email [email protected]
I have been stitching them up so my response time is quick to get these into the post. My pups love doing a walk over to the mailbox to get Re-Doo Bags on their way.
