🚨 Summer Safety Alert for Reactive Dog Parents 🚨
Did you know some anti-anxiety medications (like SSRIs, sedatives, or gabapentin) can make your dog more vulnerable to heat exhaustion or heat stroke? 🥵☀️
These medications affect the brain chemicals that help them regulate body temperature and energy levels, meaning:
🐾 They may not realize they’re overheating until it’s too late.
🐾 They might push past their limits chasing you, greeting people, or reacting to triggers.
What to watch for:
🔴 Excessive panting or drooling
🔴 Lethargy or wobbliness
🔴 Bright red gums or tongue
🔴 Vomiting or collapse
If you notice any of these signs, get your pup to a cool spot immediately and call your vet. 💛
Tip: On hot days, stick to early morning or late evening walks, provide plenty of shade and fresh water, and never leave your dog in the car — even for a minute.
Let’s keep them safe this summer — because our shadow pups don’t always know when to stop. 💛
