It’s market time at #solefoodfarms 299 west 1st ave
We are living in unprecedented times!
Read the news, listen to the radio, or hangout too long online and it all seems a little overwhelming.
But for every sign of climate chaos, for every mean-spirited narcissistic world leader, for every act of terrorism or sign of economic uncertainty there are a million stories of hope and possibility.
Sole Food Street Farms is one of those hopeful stories.
For the last eleven years Sole Food Street Farms has been training and employing individuals from Vancouver’s downtown east-side through its world-class innovative model of urban agriculture. Throughout those years we have employed over a hundred people, put millions of dollars in wages into the community, established five farm sites, created a large urban orchard producing persimmons, quince, figs, apples, pears, plums, and cherries, and inspired the creation of similar projects around the world. Based on a recent study of the project, we are creating a social impact of $4.11 for every dollar that we pay to our staff.
So how do we deal with that sense of powerlessness that we all feel when faced with the current crush of global challenges?
Its simple. Come back home. Support the good work that Sole Food Street Farms is doing in our neighborhood by making a tax-deductible donation.
Your contribution will not disappear into the vast coffers of some giant national organization, it will go directly into supporting Sole Food’s important work in continuing to provide opportunities to individuals who really need and deserve our help.
Support our work today in growing food and changing lives—one bucket of compost, one handful of seeds, one parking lot at a time.
