We're grateful to be profiled in the Vancouver Guardian’s Charitable Choices this week. ❤️

Sole Food has always been about more than farming. It’s about creating space for people to belong, to heal, and to grow together. Every donation, every box of produce purchased, every kind word of encouragement helps us keep building a vision rooted in resilience, dignity, and community.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make a difference close to home, supporting Sole Food is one beautiful way.

Sole Food Street Farms transforms unused urban land into farms that provide fresh food and jobs for Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community.

So glad to be a part of this important annual fundraiser!

We were honoured to partner with of to host a special group of guests for a summer farm-to-table gathering. It was a unique opportunity for our farmers to see their hard work—grown seed by seed, row by row—transformed into an exquisite meal just down the street from where it’s grown.

We kicked off the day with a walk through the fields, led by our farmers Laura, Tony, Alain, and Chef Andrea. Together, they shared stories of the season’s harvest—what’s growing, how it’s grown, and the care that goes into every seed sown.

Enjoy a few snapshots from this very special day. Image credit: Enfant Terrible Productions

Huge thanks to for bringing it all together with such care and intention. The evening celebrated not only the bounty of summer, but also the power of food to connect farmers, chefs, and food lovers alike.

From squash blossoms to sun-warmed tomatoes, every bite carried a story.

A lovely chat with Vancouver Food Runners and our Executive Director, Heather.
🌱Sole Food has sparked curiosity and conversation at each of its farms over the years — kids peek through fences, neighbours stop to ask questions, and people begin to imagine different futures for their communities. These spaces become sites of care and connection. We see the return of biodiversity. We regularly see bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, even the occasional eagle and coyote. It’s a beautiful reminder that we’re not the only ones who benefit when cities are greened.🌱

We turn parking lots into farms.

Sole Food transforms vacant urban land into street farms that grow artisan quality fruits and vegetables, available at farmer’s markets, local restaurants and retail outlets. We believe healthy food systems foster healthy communities and envision a future where good food is accessible, grown sustainably, where farms thrive in an urban setting, and where our community comes together to connect directly with their food and their neighbors.
