Huge gratitude to the amazing volunteer crews for joining our 3rd Annual Gleaning Day this November. 🌈🌦️Including the teams from and Whole Foods Cambie store.

Volunteers showed up on one of the rainiest days of the fall and absolutely crushed it—muddy boots, big smiles, and all! Together we gleaned 89.5 lbs of produce from the fields, including:
💚40+ lbs collards
🥦11 lbs broccolini
🥗50 lbs mustard greens
🌿mountains of fresh herbs
🧄all the remaining garlic
🌼and the last of our bloomed flowers

Your hard work also helped us complete a ton of essential end-of-season farm tasks, setting us up for a strong 2026. Because of your efforts, we were able to donate a huge amount of fresh produce to the DTES Emergency Food Hub, supporting a community-led response to food insecurity. Thank you for ending our growing season on such a beautiful note.

Don't miss our Third Annual Gleaning Day on November 6th, 2025! The event will take place from 11am-3pm, rain or shine. Every November since 2023 we have invited the communities around us to join us in the final days of our season to help close to fields. This has included the opportunity for gleaning, an age-old practice of collecting any produce left-over after the farmers have finished their market harvest. At Sole Food, this has meant the opportunity for folks to be a part of the end of our season and co-create a free market where volunteers have the chance to take home salvaged veggies that would have otherwise been compost. We hope you'll don your gumboots and join us for an afternoon of work, community, and food rescue!

This year, we’ll be adding a donation of PASTRIES from as well as a clothing swap to our Free Market! (Bring your hand-me-downs!)

There will be a tour of the farm to share our story and practices. Please RSVP via instagram DMs or to [email protected] so we have an idea of numbers, or just show up between 11am-3pm.

🌿✨ A special night on the farm ✨🌿
Earlier this summer, we hosted a farm-to-table dinner in our back orchard in support of Sierra Club BC. Guests gathered at long tables under the trees, sharing a vegetarian meal crafted by the talented Chef Alessandro Vianello, who showcased our produce in fresh and creative ways.

It was a special evening of food, music, and connection—all set against the backdrop of our urban farm. Swipe through to relive the experience! ✨

We turn parking lots into farms.

Sole Food transforms vacant urban land into street farms that grow artisan quality fruits and vegetables, available at farmer’s markets, local restaurants and retail outlets. We believe healthy food systems foster healthy communities and envision a future where good food is accessible, grown sustainably, where farms thrive in an urban setting, and where our community comes together to connect directly with their food and their neighbors.
