Big and Small Rescue Society We are a Vancouver-based registered non-profit society dedicated to re-homing dogs These dogs are sad, sick, often starving, and many are badly abused.

We rescue dogs locally, from Northern Canadian reservations and dogs about to be euthanized in high-kill shelters in California. These shelters destroy 87% of their intake or nearly 1000 loving dogs a month. We are not changing the world with our small rescue efforts, but to quote a popular saying in rescue, 'we are surely changing the world for that one dog'. We take these dogs in to foster homes

where they are lovingly restored to health. We find them kind and caring homes and make them the promise to love them forever. It's a labour of love; it's our small effort to live up to their incredible friendship. Although we appreciate the many caring foster and adoption applications for our dogs, it is our mandate to fit the family to the dog's needs, not vice versa. As such, not all applicants may be considered suitable for our rescue dogs.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET POTATO - OMG. So when we google search Potato's breed mix we keep getting Papillon and King Charles Spaniel mix. And we kinda agree.... Potato is a dream... He is like molten caramel. He just loves warm laps. Potato is super duper affectionate. He weighs 12 lbs and has just been neutered. We think he is about 2 years old. He has some shyness especially around loud noises. On walks he can get behind you as strangers or dogs approach. That said he LOVES his foster dog and snuggles up to him (see photo below). He is a-ok with cats. We think he'd love an active life. Though, this guy is mainly all about coziness. lol! Small loud children could spook him. But older quieter children should be OK.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET SPOOKY - This gorgeous wooly haired boy is about 5 years old. He looks to us like a full Havanese (but we can never be sure). He weighs a sturdy 22 lbs. He has had a wonderful haircut by his foster (thank you, Richard). Spooky will have the most gorgeous fur when it grows out. Spooky is an affectionate guy. He has a real personality. Dare we call it a sense of humour? He loves to cuddle and be close to his person. But he can chill on the couch and watch a Netflix binge. He gets along with dogs and people. He is getting neutered (yay)! He needs help with his leash walking as he can bark at dogs that pass by. We think the neutering will help. And some yummy snack redirects should get Spooky to refocus. He wants to please and we believe he is very trainable. He is not tested with kids or cats yet. Spooky has many gears: he can couch-potato or go for hikes. He loves it all - just as long as he gets to hang with his person.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET OSO - Oso is a lovely 5 year old neutered Australian Heeler maybe crossed with a corgi and possible some Australian Shepherd. Hard to say. He is a big squishy boy at 69lbs. We think he needs to slim down a little though he does loves his snacks. Oso is a loving boy. He gets along really well with children and other dogs. He is quiet and his foster have yet to hear him bark. He walks well on a leash and is potty trained. He sleeps through the night. Oso is a working breed that herds. So, he does want to get out for a good walk. We think someone who has the time to give this guy more outdoor activity would be ideal. He is such a good egg. And he would LOVE if someone could throw their arms around him and call him their Best Friend. He deserves this.

FOSTERS NEEDED - MEET LOCO - Loco is a tiny 12 lbs JRT-chi mix. He is super sweet and affectionate. Check the video in comments section. He is about 2 years old. His owner surrendered him as he had to move homes. Sniff. And now he is stuck in a kill shelter. Ugh. He is a lively boy. He is a smart cookie, too. This mix of breeds means he will love long walks and hikes. And then he'd love a warm lap or a dog bed to snuggle up in. He gets along with other dogs. He is not tested with children or cats yet. If you are looking for a lively and sweet small breed cuddle bug, then Loco may be your baby. We would love to find him a loving foster home while we seek a permanent home. FOSTERS FOUND - Thank you dog community - Meet Lord CHEDDAR and Sir STILTON - These 2 adorable standard poodle mixes (best guess) need your love. They are both males and look to be about 12 weeks old. They weigh around 15 lbs. I am not sure why so many animals are being abandoned, especially young babies. But there you go. Humans! We would love to see these gorgeous boys in a loving home while we get busy trying to find them permanent homes. All fosters must be in the LOWER MAINLAND to access our vets. FOSTER (TO-ADOPT) NEEDED - MEET ACE - This lovely 12 week old shepherd - hound mix needs a home starting this coming Sunday. Ace is super sweet and very bright. He is listening and trying to learn. He give lots of kisses. He's a super duper cuddler. He is being fostered with children in a family but next week it is back to school and schedules. Ace will be alone.We need to find him a place that will have time to care for him. Ace is UTD on vaccines, dewormed microchipped and deflead. He is healthy and happy. He weighs about 12 lbs. Ace and his siblings were just dumped roadside. People are super mean to animals.

FOSTER FOUND- Thank you - MEET BISCUIT - Oh be still my beating heart. Biscuit is about 7 years old and weighs 18lbs. He is neutered. We think he is just the CUTEST. We see some pug in those eyes, some chi and maybe a wiener dog as well? Only Biscuit truly knows... We are told the Biscuit is a friendly guy who does like to 'hog' his hooman. He is kennelled with other dogs and does well. A one-of-kind cutie. Not tested yet with kids or cats. Let's find some love for this boy. Those eyes.....

FOSTERS FOUND- thank you dog community - Meet Titus and Puck. They are brothers. We are seeking separate fosters for them. Both 1 year old and weigh 5 and 6 lbs, respectively. Super teeny-tiny. These little nuggets look to be long-haired chihuahua crosses. The shelter finds them easy to handle and friendly. They are not yet tested with kids or cats. Does anyone want to help them while we set them up for adoption? Foster must be in the Lower Mainland to access our vets. And yes, foster-to-adopt are also possible.

FOSTER FOUND- thank you - MEET SPOOKY - This beautiful miniature poodle mix is 5 years old and weighs 22 lbs. He definitely needs a bath and a good brush through. Spooky, we are told, is a typical poodle. He is friendly with the shelter staff. He is kennelled with other stray dogs. We think he is going to clean up beautifully. Spooky will make someone very happy as a companion animal. He is not tested - yet- with kids or cats. Are you wanting to wrap your arms around a cute little poodle? Some good long walks should help him trim-up. Oso is an Australian Shepherd mix. He is in a crowded shelter. He needs to get out asap. He is described as super sweet and friendly with staff. ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET SOLLY- Oh dear Lord. Some stuffy cuteness. Solly is a 1 year old mutt. We see some Havanese, Maltese and some Terrier too. He weighs just 9 lbs. Solly is super sweet. He is shy. He is learning commands. SOLLY LOVES DOGS. He has never met a dog he did not totally LOVE. He prefers his quieter humans (don't we all) - so maybe no young kids for now. He has been fostered with some cats and he did just fine. We think he would learn so much from a calm older dog. Solly is being so well treated and beloved by the team at Pathfinder Dog Ranch. They would love to continue to help support any adopter of Solly. We think that's pretty nice of them ❤ Solly is in the GVRD.
