Big and Small Rescue Society We are a Vancouver-based registered non-profit society dedicated to re-homing dogs These dogs are sad, sick, often starving, and many are badly abused.

We rescue dogs locally, from Northern Canadian reservations and dogs about to be euthanized in high-kill shelters in California. These shelters destroy 87% of their intake or nearly 1000 loving dogs a month. We are not changing the world with our small rescue efforts, but to quote a popular saying in rescue, 'we are surely changing the world for that one dog'. We take these dogs in to foster homes

where they are lovingly restored to health. We find them kind and caring homes and make them the promise to love them forever. It's a labour of love; it's our small effort to live up to their incredible friendship. Although we appreciate the many caring foster and adoption applications for our dogs, it is our mandate to fit the family to the dog's needs, not vice versa. As such, not all applicants may be considered suitable for our rescue dogs.

FOSTER NEEDED - Meet CURLY - who would do this to a dog? Such neglect. Curly is a 1 year old miniature poodle mix. He weighs 16lbs ; most of it is matted fur. Curly is kennelled with other dogs and does just fine. He is timid and fearful at the moment. We think this is because he can barely see through all the matting. We think he’s in a lot of pain. Curly really needs to be in a loving home with someone who has patience and understand his needs. His foster must understand rescues. He is not tested with kids or cats yet. Given his condition, we think being in a quiet adult only home would be best. Must be local to GVRD to access our designated vets.

Adopter Needed - MEET BROOKLYN - this beautiful girl is 8 to 10 months old. We see some Anatolian in her but also due to her smaller she may have some smaller collie breed in her too. She weighs 50 pounds. Brook is just an awesome puppy. She is great with other dogs. She loves a good wrestle. She is potty trained and walks well on a leash. She is learning to retrieve a ball. Brooklyn is fostered with little children and teenagers. She is gentle and loving. She is an affectionate sweet baby girl. We think she is an all around amazing dog and would be a stellar addition to most homes.

ADOPTER NEEDED - MEET TRIPP - Tripp is a 3-4 year old mountain breed mix. He weighs 74lbs. Tripp is a whole lotta love. He is also a shy boy. He has been abandoned and was completely overlooked at the shelter for months. This made Tripp unsure outside in the big world. We are training him and he is doing so well. He is building his confidence. Yay! At home, he is a cuddle-bug and a big beating heart to hold on to. Tripp LOVES HIS PEOPLE. He is a hugger and a leaner. See photo below. He walks really well on a leash, no potty accidents and appears to be chill when left at home. As Tripp is a big boy, we are going to say no to kids. Also, no other dogs - for now - as Tripp was attacked at the shelter. Poor guy. He is just a friendly but scared boy. A quiet easy going home would suit Tripp down to the ground. He'd love some where to roam, too.

ADOPTER NEEDED - Meet SHANE - Little Shane is just 6-7 months old. We see border collie for sure, but is he a mix? Hard to say. Shane is 25 lbs. He is underweight and needs some fattening up. Shane is sweet and affectionate. He LOVES his people and follows them around. He will hop in your bed and give you a kiss in the morning. Shane is active. He has a good brain and is learning his commands. He loves to play and chew (his teeth have almost all come in). He is great with other dogs (see photo below) He is living with a cat and does well. That said, he could chase a cat outdoors. Though not tested yet, we think he'd be fine with kids. He is growing into his body and could knock a small child down. The most important thing for Shane is that we find someone who is active and has time for him. We know you are out there.....

FOSTER FOUND - MEET SHANE -What a beautiful boy. Shane is 8 months old and weighs 25lbs. We see border collie, for sure, but wonder what other smaller breed he might also have in him? Shane is sweet puppy who is kennelled with other dogs and does really well. He is easy to handle too. We would love to see this beautiful boy in the arms of someone who enjoys the outdoors and taking long walks through our beautiful BC. He is young and will likely need training. He is not yet tested with kids or cats but as a young dog should be easily integrated. Let's get SHANE some love.

FOSTER NEEDED - MEET DUCHESS - This beautiful 10 month old girls looks Anatolian mix to us. She weighs 50lbs. We have rescued this breed mix before and we are TOTALLY IN LOVE. They are like molten caramel. This breed mix is very gentle and mellow. Duchess is kennelled with plenty of other dogs and is doing really well. She is easy to handle. We think she'd fit into most households. At a kill shelter, she is not yet tested with kids or cats. We expect her to be loving with everyone. FOSTER FOUND - OUR APOLOGIES FOR NOT GETTING BACK TO PEOPLE EARLIER- MEET TINKER - This cute- as-a-bug miniature poodle is a senior at 8+ years. He weighs only 15 lbs. Tinker is stuck in a kill shelter. He is needing out. He is at risk because he is an older dog. Tinker is kennelled with other dogs and does really well. He is easy to handle. We think Tinker is going to be a fabulous lapdog. He is going to enjoy his neighbourly strolls . We suspect because of his age he will be low energy. He is not yet tested with kids or cats. FOSTER FOUND - SHORT-TERM FOSTER WEEKEND June 27-June 30. MEET TRIPP. This gorgeous 3-4 years old St Bernard-Pyrenee and maybe some lab. Tripp is cuddly. He is very sweet and super dedicated to her handler. Tripp is timid and quite shy. He needs a quiet and calm home. We think because of his shyness we would love a home without kids, cats or dogs - just for now. He has been through a lot and he deserves some time to build his confidence and decompress.

ADOPTERS NEEDED - MEET WH**EY and BERRY. We have 2 beautiful 10-12 week old Malinois Belgian - German Shepherd pups x (best guess). These little girls are super smart. And very cuddly too. They are doing all their business outside - already! They LOVE other dogs and are very respectful. They make great eye contact. They really want to connect and understand their human handlers. We think they will be middling to high energy and very trainable. Look at these adorable faces. We would love to see them with people who understand shepherd mixes. They are going to love going for hikes, long walks and swimming. They will want to learn to retrieve and understand many different commands. Above all , these are really sweet and loving puppies. At this age they should integrate into any household - kids, cats and other.

ADOPTERS NEEDED - MEET WH**EY and BERRY. We have 2 beautiful 10-12 week old Malinois Belgian Shepherd pups x (well they look Malinois to us, but who knows). These little girls are super intelligent. And very cuddly too. They are doing all their business outside - already! They love the other older dogs that they are being fostered with and listen really well to them. They make great eye contact. They really want to connect and understand their human handlers. We think they will be middling to high energy and very trainable. Look at these adorable faces.
