This beauty is Mizgin, a 1 - 1 1/2 year old golden mix who came into Rover's Retreat Rescue from Turkey. This sweet girl was found abandoned in the forest as a puppy, and thankfully a rescue volunteer brought her to safety. Mizgin is very sociable and always looking for cuddles and pets. She loves her people and she also loves playful dogs. Mizgin is a typical young golden and has lots of energy. She loves her long daily walks, and also enjoys having a yard to explore and do zoomies. She can sit for quite a while and watch the squirrels and birds. She is learning the joy of playing with toys, too, and is really having fun playing fetch in the yard.

Mizgin has been a good house guest at her foster home. She is doing great with potty training, and to set her up for success her forever family should plan to give her treats and praise for going potty in the correct place.

Mizgin is a gorgeous girl and loves her humans….loves car rides…and loves cuddling. She thinks she is a lapdog and enjoys spending time on the couch next to her humans. She would do great with an active family who wants a cuddly dog. Having a playful doggie sibling would be a plus.

Cocker Spaniel Female
Demi is a 1 1/2 year old cocker spaniel who came to us from Turkey. She had been bred, and her owner was selling both Demi and her puppies. Fortunately, a friend of our rescuer’s was able to get Demi and one of her puppies and bring them to safety.
Demi is the sweetest, loving, happiest girl that loves everyone. When brought into the foster home, she almost didn’t know what to do with herself when getting pets because it was love and affection she hadn’t felt before to the point that she almost doesn’t know what to do with herself, she will just curl right into you, wiggle her whole body and give you endless kisses. She will snuggle up with you on the couch for hours but if you’re busy, she will happily lounge around the house on her own or play with her favourite toy. Everyone that meets Demi, even just walking on the street, absolutely falls in love with her and how sweet she is.
Demi is a medium energy dog and loves adventuring outdoors and does well on the leash with her front clip leader on. If there is some kind of water on the adventure, that is a bonus for Demi! With that being said, she absolutely loves baths! Demi has been doing a lot of playing with all different sizes of dogs and loves it and does so well. Tug-a-war being a favourite of hers to play with other dogs. She would do well in a home with another playful dog but would also be happy being the only dog in the house with a family that will play with her lots and give her regular opportunities to have play dates with other dogs.
Demi is still learning some of the basics but is such a smart girl and highly treat motivated so if you have some treats on you, she is super quick with learning a new trick. She does need to be taken out for potty breaks every few hours to help set her up for success with housetraining.

Hi Everyone!
We have another flight scheduled for March 20th for 4-6 lucky rescued dogs.
Los Santos Animal Rescue (based in Vancouver BC https://santosanimalrescue.wixsite.com/website) and Rover’s Retreat (based in LA, California https://www.roversretreat.org/) are looking for long term (6 months maximum) loving foster homes in the Vancouver or nearby surrounding areas for rescue dogs coming in from an amazing rescue in Turkey.
We again are in need of your help!
Are you or do you know someone interested in making a difference in an animal’s life?
We need foster homes that have prior dog experience, are patient and responsible. All foster supplies- including food- can be provided, as well as, all medical costs covered. The rescue dogs are fully vaccinated, and neutered/spayed.
We ask you if you would please also help share our post amongst your friends and family, together we can help these rescues find their “furever” homes.

Below we are sharing pictures and information of some of the dogs that may be coming in. While the exact dog(s) may change, most are golden retrievers, golden mixes, spaniel mixes, and a few other mixed-breed dogs all with fabulous temperaments.

3— Benson (1-1.5 years-old) male golden retriever mix. Lost tip of his ear to an injury but he has healed. Playful, good with other dogs. Moderate energy. Very sweet, calm in the house, loves to walk on a leash, loves to stay close to his human, good in the car. Good with cats.
4-- Mizgin (1-year-old) female golden retriever mix. Energetic, playful. Sweet, calm in the house, loves to walk on a leash, good in the car, playful with other dogs. GOOD with cats.

On Sunday, Feb 27th Los Santos Animal Rescue and Rover's Retreat welcomed our second group of lucky Turkey dogs from Siyami Tekin and Emel Ceylan Üçüncüoğlu into Vancouver, Canada! These 6 precious pups landed safe and sound and went directly into loving foster homes where they’re going to decompress, receive endless amounts of snuggles, nutritious food and lots of love! We are so grateful for the team of volunteers we have in Vancouver who make this possible. Because of them and our wonderful fosters, these dogs get a second chance at a wonderful life while we wait for the CDC ban to be lifted. Welcome your newest Canadian citizens, Grady, Barnaby, Tommy, Katia, Kim and Luna! 🇨🇦

These 2 rescued Golden Retrievers will be arriving in Vancouver on February 27th from Turkey. We hope you can help?

Whether you're interested in fostering only or potentially adopting, this is a great opportunity. For fostering, we are looking for a commitment of up to 6 months.
These dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. They are dog-friendly, people-friendly, and some are cat-friendly. Our first flight of 4 dogs on January 23 went very smoothly, and the dogs have all been adopted into loving forever homes!

Meet Rayna! A very sweet 1 - 1.5-year-old female golden retriever. She is good with cats, friendly with other dogs, playful, and energetic. She was found as a stray in Turkey (thought to be abandoned because she was following people around looking for her family). An amazing group of people in Turkey rescued Rayna, and Rover's Retreat brought her to Vancouver, Canada. Los Santos Animal Rescue is helping to find Rayna's forever home.
Rayna is currently living with a foster family who absolutely adores her. They say that she is the perfect dog! Within a week of being in Canada, she is already fully adjusted. She is fully house trained, has no food aggression walks well on a leash, and loves giving kisses and hugs.
Her foster family is currently working on basic commands and Rayna is making huge progress.

Rayna prefers a family that has a backyard or a nice open park nearby because she loves to run around and roll in the grass. Another dog would be a bonus as Rayna loves playing with other dogs. Turkey and Rover's Retreat Rescue, USA brought him to Vancouver, Canada. Los Santos Animal Rescue is working with Rover's Retreat to find him his forever home!
Canko is currently living with a foster family who says he is already a neighborhood favourite! They say that he is the perfect dog. He is fully house trained, has no food aggression, walks well on leash and loves cuddling.

2 FRENCH BULLDOGS FOR ADOPTION- also in desperate need of fostering!

Hi Everyone,
Thank you so very much to all those who have shared our post looking for Vancouver foster homes for the 5 dogs coming in at the end of January, and for those who have reached out to volunteer!
I am writing to everyone again today in hopes someone would be also available to foster or who is interested in adopting either one of these 2 little dogs in Vancouver, B.C or the surrounding area. One is a neutered male, approximately 2 years old, brindle coloured french bulldog, and the other is a spayed female, approximately 3 years old, black and white french bulldog. They have recently arrived from China, are updated with vaccines and microchipped. They are super friendly and very grateful for a second chance at a new life here in Canada. They get along well with one another but can be separated.

2 - Pepsi: 1 1/2-year-old female. Spayed. Less energy in general compared to others her age, but very playful. Sweet, affectionate.

3 - Rayna: 1-1 1/2-year-old female. Spayed. Energetic, sweet, playful.

4 - Ashton: 1 - 1 1/2-year-old male. Neutered. Very playful, good with all sizes of dogs. Smaller sized with short legs 🙂

5 - Darbie Jo: 3 year old female. Spayed. Very friendly with all dogs, affectionate, sweet, smart.

Wishing everyone and their furry family members a very Happy New Year! It has been quite some time since we have posted. Our rescue location has now moved from Shanghai, China to Vancouver, B.C.
