Cats really are the best and we are so lucky to have them. They teach us lots of important lessons like how to prioritize rest and self care, having excellent boundaries and living in the moment!

This Caturday we are having a celebration!

Come by the store on the 15th to get lots of freebies, enter to win prizes and maybe be subjected to karaoke or a puppet show 😅 Round the back in the alley we will have lots of great deals on bits and pieces - things that are ex-display, imperfect but still usable and also random items that we have ended up with.

We will also have the wonderful .co selling some awesome handmade goodies they made!

All the money we make from our garage sale will be donated to Palestinian families who have been forced to flee the horror being inflicted on them with the support of our government. Acknowledging that reality, while throwing a party, is important to us 🍉

Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers like Louie - but not all are safe for cats! Lilies are especially incredibly toxic to cats! Always check that flowers you might be gifted are safe for cats before bringing them into your home 🌸🌹💐

Happy Caturday!!!!

We have a busy week coming up preparing for the event of the summer ! Watch our stories for clues about our booth’s theme this year 😏

It’s also going to be a hot hot week and heat wave hours will be in effect in-store ☀️☀️☀️

We will be closing at 4pm on Sunday and heat wave hours will be in effect Monday 14 - Friday 18, open 8am to 4pm! It will be toooo hot to bring kitties in to visit and we will miss them 😿 stay cool and take care of each other!

Oh hi us again! Our last round of adjusted opening hours went great! It was a real game-changer for us to do the physical part of our work earlier in the day, so we are gonna try it again for this coming hot spell.

From Wednesday 2nd til Tuesday 8th our hours will be 8am - 4pm. Apart from Monday 7th when we will be CLOSED! ☀️

We may well extend as tbh the week after is looking hot too!

Thank you for your understanding! By implementing this, our aim is to be reliable and available to you. Our Google hours are always updated asap so that’s always a great place to confirm before visiting if you’re at all unsure!

Our hours this coming Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th will be 🔥8AM - 4PM🔥

One of the hardest aspects of running a small store is also one of the most important - being reliable and consistent. It has always been a priority for us. We know that being available to you and your cat is essential when you need food or litter.

We have learned during the past summers that it’s not good for us to be working in the heat for too long, and it’s also not good for you if we close on the fly because we are melting.

🔥 So introducing Heat Wave Hours! 🔥
When the temperature is forecast to be over 30 for longer than a day, we will be shifting our opening hours to earlier in the day.

By doing so we hope that we can stay more consistent for you - we will always let you know when the temporary hours will be in effect and are working on more ways to communicate with you! (sign up for our email 😉) Our Google profile is always a good place to check our hours as we update them asap.

This Wednesday and Thursday is a little experiment, we will see how it goes and please let us know your feedback!

And of course we love when cats visit us BUT we are about to have a really hot weekend so please note we do not have AC!! During hot days, if your home is cooler than outside, please leave your kitties home.

Let’s be real; it’s been getting hotter and unfortunately when hot this city gets split into those with cooling systems and those without. We have no easy or cheap way to get some AC (working on it!) so we will be adjusting the way we work during particularly hot spells. Info on that coming soon! But for now assume that if the temp is in the high 20s it’s too hot to bring your cats in 😢 (it will be 31 with humidity this w/e 🥵)

It’s Monday and we are already thinking about the weekend!! That’s because our queen is filling in on guitar in Bratmobile at and half of the Happy Cat team will be there too 😈🎸😎

We will be open regular hours apart from the Monday! Delivery days will be reduced over the long weekend so plan ahead! Please be extra nice to our lovely crew who are staying behind in service to the cats and who are missing out on partying with John Waters 🤘 ME-OW

Did you know we operate a small cat food bank called Keep The Cats Fed? ❤️😺

As much as it’s about keeping cats fed, it’s also about keeping families together through tough times. Well tough times are now and we have been struggling to meet a growing demand on our service as the cost of living in this city rises.

Thankfully we met Nicole of recently. Through her incredible work, we gratefully took a pallet of donated food from the Mars Foundation, to help keep us going! Thank you so much to .society and for getting this to us! We also offered to store some of this large donation for The Good Haul who distribute pet food to those in need in rural places in BC 😻

Mutual aid. People working together and asking how they can help. It’s beautiful and necessary and we are so thankful for these new connections.

NINA AND ROSE LOVE CATS

All cats. Every last one of them. Your cats. Our cat. Especially black cats. We love cats so much we just had to open Vancouver's only all-cat supply store. At Happy Cat Feline Essentials we have everything you need for the happiest, healthiest cat possible.

Once upon a time, Rose was managing a pet supply store and - although she loved her doggo clients - she thought, I love cats, there should be a store just for them! She came home and told Nina (as they are housemates) who thought it sounded like a pretty great idea. Nina had worked for a long time caring for cats at Catfé and had met many like-minded cat enthusiasts, so could see that a space just for cats wasn’t crazy and might actually work! She had also met many cat guardians who needed more guidance and advice when it came to giving their cats the best life possible - and wanted to be able to recommend a place they could go to talk to someone. “Maybe we could create that space!” she thought.

In their kitchen, with their beloved boy Wilson observing, Happy Cat Feline Essentials was born!
