BOO
Breed - ALLEGEDLY Border Collie X possibly snowmobile?
Age - 6ish months
S*x - Female (intact)
Location - Abbotsford, BC, Canada
This will shock you, I know, but there is yet ANOTHER mystery mix pup looking for a home. Yes, you've caught us, our nefarious plan is to SATURATE THE WORLD WITH THEM.
BOO is 6ish months and like her brothers: BAM (still looking for his people: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18RyCNcQ5P/ ) and MAC (nee LOCH) she is freakishly large. And also like her brothers, just a little freaky about life. Remember these pups spent two and a half of their formative months in a kennel so they are just a few beats behind in life. But to see how much they flourish when they are plopped willynilly into the chaos of The World, scroll down the page and take a look at the update on Mac, the first of these hairyfloofs to find his forever home.
BOO is the "little" lady of the bunch and falls somewhere between Mac (preternaturally enormous) and Bam (the tonka truck) in size. She has a glorious head (and body) of silky hair and can leap and squash senior border collies in a single bound. She is gloriously dog social, as are all the puppies, but because she is a be****ch, she is just a little sharper than her big dumb brothers. We expect this, because girl dogs are ALWAYS JUDGING YOU and that's why I get boy dogs.
BOO currently lives with an older border collie and bosses him around at every opportunity, though in a suuuper passive aggressive way. NO TOYS FOR YOU, BOY DOG. She likes to play with him but she thinks she is the s**t and he is ... well, just kinda s**t. She also lives with two young kids, that she found kinda scary at first but has learned they are the source of awesome things like dropped food and snuggles. However, her foster home is doing an excellent job of diligently managing their interactions - a less conscientious parent may find that having a giant horsebeast of a dog and little ones mean flattened little ones with their faces ground into the carpet. It's easy to forget these are still puppies, because they are big (not sure if I have mentioned this, but they are big?) And because these pups just need a little more care and introduction to scary-world, she might be better off in an adult home where all eyes are on her.
I am no expert in genetics, but it seems that these dogs have inherited the ability to turn into ghosts when it's time for p**ping and can invisibly disappear to p**p in the house. Mac was fantastic at this. Boo is also pretty good at it, and while her concept of "peepees are for outside" is coming along really well, house p**ping remains a sport at which she excels. Some of this stems from the fact that outside can still be too scary to spend the necessary time finding the perfect squatspot.
The invisibility cloak she can don is also perfect for sneaking up on you and laying down right where you are about to put your feet. These dogs LOVE their people and being near their people. And because she's big and can hold her own, if you do step on her she a) immediately forgives you but b) isn't at risk of becoming an area rug when you squash her.
BOO gets along well with her foster dog brother, as mentioned, but JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD and she is very mindful of where he is and what he's doing when she has munchies. She is also mindful of where YOU are when she has said munchies, but she has shown no aggression to people, just some Meaningful Eye Contact.
Boo loves a good game of fetch, which she probably gets from the border collie side of the family, seeing as how snowmobiles aren't great at retrieving toys. This is a great way to exercise her, because she is still pretty nervous about going out and about, leash walks, new places and new sights/noises. She is a little flightier than her brothers about dealing with new experiences and may need a little more patience and time.
Boo experienced some car sickness on her ride out to BC, and hasn't had much opportunity to get back in a vehicle, so she will need some work on that. Mac also yakked (and other gross things) in the car but on his ride to his forever home a cerenia solved that and now he is getting into the truck for rides to the park and is HAPPY about it. It's just time and patience folks.
Boo's foster home thought about keeping Boo forever, but a new addition has to be the right fit, and Boo needs just more one on one with her human - a home with another confident dog would be absolutely great for her, but that home needs to temper their expectations when it comes to progress. As I've said before, these are *fundamentally nice dogs* and their fears are largely environmentally induced, because they did not have the chance to do all the puppy socializing in some early formative months, but because they are nice dogs with very nice temperaments, they have opportunity to move past this with the right people. However if you are looking for your next great sport dog, you're barking up the wrong giant hairbeast.
As always, we do not ship our dogs or adopt them out sight unseen - potential adopters must come to us before we finalize an adoption. We will ask you to sign an agreement to spay Boo by a certain age because we don't like to do early neuters an horses (I mean dogs! BIG dogs!) and the world doesn't need anymore giant mixed breed dogs that end up in rescue. If you are interested in Boo (or her brother Bam) please EMAIL us at [email protected]
Please share so these siblings can find their people!
