Coming to you looking for another foster home. This is ACE, he is a 4.5 year old neutered male who, through no fault of his own, needs some new digs.

Here's what we know about Ace - he LOVES people. He LOVES fetch. He is great with other dogs who do not try to mount him (girl, same). We don't know how he is with cats or small humans. He is housebroken, polite in the house and not destructive, and has a great recall. He HATES cars. And he needs to lose a whole lotta flub.

Ace needs a foster home who can help him get back to fighting weight and who won't let him chase cars. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to help us find Ace a foster home. Please EMAIL us at bcrescue@shaw if you can help. Ace is located in the BC Lower Mainland of BC, Canada.

SORI HAS BEEN ADOPTED BY A TDBCR ALUMNI.

Hi everyone - we have been contacted about this 11 year old dog in need of somewhere to go. Sori's owner passed away and her family cannot keep her. From the size of her schnoz, it's pretty clear there is collie collie (like Timmy fell in the well collie) in the mix. She is described as "pleasant, quiet and timid." Not a fan of kids, cats, boisterous dogs or loud noises. She has some dog friends, but prefers to fly solo.

Sori needs somewhere to go - my house has all the things she hates (except kids, because we also hate those, but I have EXTRA boisterous dogs to make up for it) so she cannot come here. Can you accommodate a sweet senior dog who needs somewhere to call home? Please EMAIL us at [email protected] Lower Mainland, BC CANADA

All your finger crossing appears to have been successful! BOO HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING! We have now spread the Giant Hair Beasts across this great province. Part two of our nefarious plans may commence .

Thank you for all your shares, we are so happy we could assist another rescue and find these pups wonderful homes (even though the last adopter wasn't named Helen, which was a little bit of a bummer 🤣)

A little trivia for you today - TDBCR was founded in 1999. We have rehomed a few thousand border collies and border-collie-esque dogs. One pattern we have seen over the years is that females generally get adopted much quicker than males - whenever we have had several dogs for adoption we've learned that females of any coat type go faster than males, males with long coats go faster than smoothies. That's why we are so surprised that BOO is the last (wo)man standing! BOO is still looking for a home: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/12KfbbHHX1d/

Baby Boy Bam has an adoption pending - and weirdly, like his brother Mac, his adopter's name is ALSO Helen. Maybe we can do the impossible and find Boo a home with a Helen! Applicants named Helen get dibs!* https://www.facebook.com/share/p/12KfbbHHX1d/

(*obviously, this is a joke - the best home for Boo is the home we'll adopt to. I hate that I have to qualify that, but Karens ruin it for Helens everywhere)

Boo is sad, and it's your fault she's sad, because you have not applied to adopt her and neither has anyone you know. How dare you make Boo sad! At least share her profile so she can find a home and be unsad?

"Little" Baby Bam can't believe nobody has inquired about adopting him :( This 6ish month old border collie mix is a sweet, snuggly, playful dog social puppy who would love to go on hiking adventures with you, join you at the beach for a swim or cuddle up on the sofa for a movie night. We regularly get updates on his brother Mac, the first of the pups to be adopted, and he coming along leaps and bounds - Bam just needs a little help to do the same. Don't you need a furry best friend?

BOO
Breed - ALLEGEDLY Border Collie X possibly snowmobile?
Age - 6ish months
S*x - Female (intact)
Location - Abbotsford, BC, Canada

This will shock you, I know, but there is yet ANOTHER mystery mix pup looking for a home. Yes, you've caught us, our nefarious plan is to SATURATE THE WORLD WITH THEM.

BOO is 6ish months and like her brothers: BAM (still looking for his people: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18RyCNcQ5P/ ) and MAC (nee LOCH) she is freakishly large. And also like her brothers, just a little freaky about life. Remember these pups spent two and a half of their formative months in a kennel so they are just a few beats behind in life. But to see how much they flourish when they are plopped willynilly into the chaos of The World, scroll down the page and take a look at the update on Mac, the first of these hairyfloofs to find his forever home.

BOO is the "little" lady of the bunch and falls somewhere between Mac (preternaturally enormous) and Bam (the tonka truck) in size. She has a glorious head (and body) of silky hair and can leap and squash senior border collies in a single bound. She is gloriously dog social, as are all the puppies, but because she is a be****ch, she is just a little sharper than her big dumb brothers. We expect this, because girl dogs are ALWAYS JUDGING YOU and that's why I get boy dogs.

BOO currently lives with an older border collie and bosses him around at every opportunity, though in a suuuper passive aggressive way. NO TOYS FOR YOU, BOY DOG. She likes to play with him but she thinks she is the s**t and he is ... well, just kinda s**t. She also lives with two young kids, that she found kinda scary at first but has learned they are the source of awesome things like dropped food and snuggles. However, her foster home is doing an excellent job of diligently managing their interactions - a less conscientious parent may find that having a giant horsebeast of a dog and little ones mean flattened little ones with their faces ground into the carpet. It's easy to forget these are still puppies, because they are big (not sure if I have mentioned this, but they are big?) And because these pups just need a little more care and introduction to scary-world, she might be better off in an adult home where all eyes are on her.

I am no expert in genetics, but it seems that these dogs have inherited the ability to turn into ghosts when it's time for p**ping and can invisibly disappear to p**p in the house. Mac was fantastic at this. Boo is also pretty good at it, and while her concept of "peepees are for outside" is coming along really well, house p**ping remains a sport at which she excels. Some of this stems from the fact that outside can still be too scary to spend the necessary time finding the perfect squatspot.

The invisibility cloak she can don is also perfect for sneaking up on you and laying down right where you are about to put your feet. These dogs LOVE their people and being near their people. And because she's big and can hold her own, if you do step on her she a) immediately forgives you but b) isn't at risk of becoming an area rug when you squash her.

BOO gets along well with her foster dog brother, as mentioned, but JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD and she is very mindful of where he is and what he's doing when she has munchies. She is also mindful of where YOU are when she has said munchies, but she has shown no aggression to people, just some Meaningful Eye Contact.

Boo loves a good game of fetch, which she probably gets from the border collie side of the family, seeing as how snowmobiles aren't great at retrieving toys. This is a great way to exercise her, because she is still pretty nervous about going out and about, leash walks, new places and new sights/noises. She is a little flightier than her brothers about dealing with new experiences and may need a little more patience and time.

Boo experienced some car sickness on her ride out to BC, and hasn't had much opportunity to get back in a vehicle, so she will need some work on that. Mac also yakked (and other gross things) in the car but on his ride to his forever home a cerenia solved that and now he is getting into the truck for rides to the park and is HAPPY about it. It's just time and patience folks.

Boo's foster home thought about keeping Boo forever, but a new addition has to be the right fit, and Boo needs just more one on one with her human - a home with another confident dog would be absolutely great for her, but that home needs to temper their expectations when it comes to progress. As I've said before, these are *fundamentally nice dogs* and their fears are largely environmentally induced, because they did not have the chance to do all the puppy socializing in some early formative months, but because they are nice dogs with very nice temperaments, they have opportunity to move past this with the right people. However if you are looking for your next great sport dog, you're barking up the wrong giant hairbeast.

As always, we do not ship our dogs or adopt them out sight unseen - potential adopters must come to us before we finalize an adoption. We will ask you to sign an agreement to spay Boo by a certain age because we don't like to do early neuters an horses (I mean dogs! BIG dogs!) and the world doesn't need anymore giant mixed breed dogs that end up in rescue. If you are interested in Boo (or her brother Bam) please EMAIL us at [email protected]

Please share so these siblings can find their people!

We got an update on Bam's brother Loch (now Mac):

"Adore him. Some confidence issues, but less each day. Makes short trip to “playtime!” dog park on front seat of truck wearing doggy seat belt. Okay for short trips. The rest in good time. Renamed him “Mac.” Wonderful morning cuddles. When I turn out lights he settles right to sleep. Brings me toys. We play. He often rests right at my easy chair. Leash walking steadily improving. “Park it” means sit. Increasingly reliable. Dog park friends are being terrific, 2 & 4-legged. Greatest off-leash runaround time for him. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for trusting me with him!"

Bam is still looking for his person. You too could be this happy with your new horse - I mean, dog! Please share so Bam can find his forever home too!

BAM HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING!

BAM
Breed - ALLEGEDLY Border Collie X but has tree trunks instead of legs (weird I know)
Age - 6ish months
S*x - Male (intact)
Location - Surrey, BC, Canada

We had an overrun of border collie mix puppies with the potential to grow into towering old growth redwood trees! Get yours now while supplies last!

Wham BAM and thank you ma'am is brother to Peer-er Of Lakes Loch and like his brother, he is built like a brick p**phouse. Originally dubbed "The Square With Hair" Bam has put on a few inches and is more of a rectangle now (and disappointingly, nothing rhymes with rectangle). Although he has gotten a bit taller, he doesn't hold a candle to his massive brother. He is still considerable heftier than a border collie of similar age, but he is a more manageable size. And his legs are like ... SOLID.

Bam has outpaced his brother in some things, such as getting into the vehicle which he will now do mostly on his own, and he doesn't yak up his breakfast in it either. Getting him OUT remains one of life's little challenges, but he'll get there eventually.

Like his brother, Bam is obsessed with water. This Alberta Boy took his first trip to the beach, walked straight into the crashy-wavy substance and took himself for a sedate swim. These pups may just be part Orca, we don't know.

Bam lives with two senior border collies (and a third visiting senior border collie) who all wish he would sink gently to the bottom of the sea because they are sick of his puppy shenanigans. He wants to play with them, and then play with them some more and then, if possible, play with them. He is - in case you missed it - very dog social. Unlike his brother, he is not at all perturbed by them going near his food dish and he also would like to help himself to their food dishes. Probably he is trying to pack on some growth so he can live up to the impossibly large example set by Loch. Right now he is about the size of a short adult BC, but like, two of them side by side.

Bam is also very people social and likes to meet everyone with hands for scritching. In the third photo he looks like a lunatic, but he is actually wiggle-leaping around and smiling at the photographer because he believes that Smiling Makes The World Go Round, so if you have always wanted a dog that grins right back at you with every pearly white in his head when he is happy, Bam is your man.

Bam is delightfully affectionate, a trait that wiggles through all of these puppies. But again, like the rest of them, he is afraid of The Great Big World Out There (except the ocean?) and has some catching up to do on that front. New things and new places are scary, and he needs reassurance and time/patience to acclimate him to ... everything. He is getting better about walking on a leash. he can still be a little panicky-bolty when startled, but at least he isn't trying to tie his foster mom up like complicated Christmas gift wrapping with the lead.

Bam will make a great companion for someone who enjoys the company of other people with playful dogs, and has access to water (beach, wading pool, puddle - all good) and doesn't mind that their dog doesn't want to walk through downtown Vancouver in the middle of a parade without turning into a pancake of fear. Like his siblings, he is best in an adult home (and an adult home that can heft him out of the vehicle, because otherwise you're just going to have a dog that lives in your car 24/7).

Bam is located in Surrey, BC. Because he is going to be a larger dog, we would prefer he be neutered when he has had a chance for his growth plates to close, but like all RESCUE dogs with no clear background or parentage, just please go away if you harbour a sneaky suspicion you'd like to make more of him. We do not ship our dogs or adopt sight unseen, so you will have to come to Bam to meet him. Please email us at bcrescue@shaw to chat more about beautiful Bam!
