Purchased 2 "tangle bags" of yarn from Cambridge Fibres total weight was 17 lbs.
Hand balled all the yarn, throwing out the smaller and damaged bits getting a total of 15.8 lbs (7.2 kg) of usable yarn (1.2 lbs wastage).
Therefore, I got the equivalent of 72 - 100g balls of worsted weight acrylic for $70 (shipping included). This works out to less than $1 per ball (97 cents) and I quite enjoy untangling snarled balls of yarn to boot !!!
One of our cats - Jasmine - loved sleeping on the bag of squishy tangled yarn . . . so much so that I quickly learned to take out more than one bundle of yarn at a time so that I could let her sleep undisturbed for the time it took me to do 3 or 4 instead of only one !!! And no, no, no - our cats are not spoiled . . . no, not one little bit !!!! 🤣

Just finished a pair of traditional
Newfoundland Thrummed Mittens
As I am getting older, my hands are getting colder in the winter - I'm hoping these will do the trick and keep my fingers pink rather than white !!
Yarn is Briggs & Little "Atlantic" - from New Brunswick
Thrums are made from roving produced at Karberry Farm and purchased from Indigo Hill Dye Studio right here in Vankleek Hill

POTENTIAL DANGERS OF CROCHETING

In a press release today, the National Institute Of Public Health has announced the discovery of a potentially dangerous substance found in CROCHET craft supplies. This substance has been linked with the following symptoms in humans:
Symptoms associated:
* Reluctance to cook
* Reluctance to perform housework
* Reluctance to work, except in support of crocheting
* Physical craving for free time to crochet
* Nonsensical muttering of numbers
* Unwavering impulse to purchase hooks, yarn and patterns
* Inability to recognize characters faces from favourite TV shows.

Beware!!! If you come in contact with a human affected by crochet, then be prepared to talk about hooks, yarn and patterns for hours on end even though no one has asked.

This has been a public service announcement...Scientists who discovered the dangerous substance, said... "Crochet addiction is real!!! The purchasing of hooks and yarn can be expensive, addictive, and may impair the ability to use common sense".

A knitting grandfather and his grandson in 1882

Nikolaos Gyzis, 1842 – 1901, was considered one of Greece's most important 19th century painters. He was famous for his work Eros and the Painter, his first genre painting. It was auctioned in May 2006 at Bonhams in London, being last exhibited in Greece in 1928. He was the major representative of the Munich School, the major 19th-century Greek art movement.

Yarnworks Studio is closing.

This is a bitter sweet announcement which has been in the works for some time.

With Bryan heading into semi-retirement I have been debating having my own studio schedule that might restrict us from making various plans together; and now with being closed completely during the pandemic - it is not such a huge step to closing the door at the current location.

While I am looking at the possibility of opening up again, at a later date, at a different location - I will still personally keep doing what I have always done with knitting, crochet, weaving and embroidery. I will continue to take orders and have merchandise prepared for sale - just contact me if you are interested.

I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all who have joined me at Yarnworks Studio – I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time and working with each of you and truly appreciate all the great energy and support I have received. This is the aspect that I will miss the most during this closing but this is also the aspect I look forward to resuming in the future.
