**Main Duties:**
- Cleaning and maintaining the veterinary clinic, including examination rooms, kennels, and common areas.
- Ensuring all areas are sanitary and well-organized.
- Cleaning surgical and dental instruments and operating the autoclave.
- Assisting with laundry duties, such as washing and folding towels and bedding.
- Disposing of waste materials according to clinic protocols.
- Organizing order shipments and inventory.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
- Performing other related tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications:**
- High school student or recent graduate.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
- Passion for animals and interest in veterinary care is a plus.

🐾 **Beware of Spear Grass: The Devil's W**d is Here!** 🌾😈

Hey SSACC Family!

Spear grass season is upon us, and we’re already seeing its nasty effects on our furry friends. Also known as “the devil’s weed” here at SSACC, spear grass can cause serious discomfort and health issues for dogs.

**What to watch for:**
- Painful ears 😖
- Head tilt 🐶
- Head shaking
- Red lumps on the skin, especially between toes, that may or may not pop and ooze discharge 🚨

These barbed seeds can migrate through the body, leading to infections and other complications. This poor girl had a large one embedded in her eardrum—the second case this week! If you notice any of these signs, it’s important to bring your dog in for a check-up. Let’s keep our pets safe and comfortable this season!

Say hello to Maite, our amazing Veterinary Assistant! 🌟 You might also see her filling in as a Client Care Coordinator, always with a smile. 😊 Maite is a dedicated team player and is always ready to help out. She moved to Canada a couple of years ago with her husband and is thrilled to call Vernon her new home. 🇨🇦🏡

Maite graduated from Veterinary Science school in Peru in 2020. 🎓 In Peru, there's no veterinary technician degree, so new graduates, like Maite, often fulfill that role. She loved it and brings that same passion to our team! 🩺🐶

Though she’s quiet, she’s mighty! 💪 We’re so lucky to have her on our team. Welcome, Maite! 💖🐾

Jay joined our team after nearly a decade at Canada West Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Vancouver. As one of our dedicated Veterinary Assistants, Jay's contributions extend far beyond her primary role. She plays a crucial part in managing our inventory—ordering supplies, receiving shipments, and ensuring our clinic remains well-stocked and organized. 📦🗂️

Jay has a deep passion for senior and end-of-life care. She offers compassionate support and guidance to pet owners during these challenging times, helping to plan for their pets' final moments with dignity and love. ❤️🐾

In addition to her professional duties, Jay is an enthusiastic beekeeper. She recently set up a beehive in our clinic garden, contributing to a sustainable environment and providing a source of natural honey. 🍯🐝 Her love for animals extends to her personal life as well; she is a self-proclaimed cat fanatic. While she adores dogs, it’s cats that truly capture her heart. 🐱🐶

We are incredibly grateful to have Jay on our team. Her dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm make her an invaluable asset to our clinic.

Today, Dr. Roberts encountered not one, not two, but a whopping nine ticks thanks to her adventurous pup, Jerry Garcia, after their hike. 😱 Picture this: she even found one crawling on her while reading a bedtime story to her child (yuck)! Her knack for client communication and passion for educating pet owners truly set her apart. Plus, her patience and dedication in training our veterinary assistants are invaluable.

When she's not busy at the clinic, Jordyn cherishes spending quality time with her partner and two adorable kids, soaking up the great outdoors with boating and paddle boarding adventures! 🐾💔 Attention Vernon Community,

We are saddened to inform you that a brown tabby cat, an intact male approximately 3-5 years old, was brought to our clinic after an unfortunate accident involving a vehicle which resulted in him passing away.

This cat did not have a microchip or tattoo for identification. We have posted a photo in the comments below in hopes that it may help bring closure to his family, should they recognize him as their missing pet.

If you believe this may be your cat, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our thoughts are with those who might be missing a beloved companion.

Her responsibilities stretch far beyond those of a traditional receptionist, as she orchestrates our day-to-day operations. She ensures smooth communication with all our clients, maintains a serene and efficient environment, and oversees the sending of client reminders. Coral is meticulous in entering critical patient and client information into our records system and triages and screens most of the communications filtering through the practice.

With her calm professionalism, Coral serves as a reliable support, crucial to navigating the bustling dynamics of our practice. She also takes charge of various administrative tasks, trains other staff members in client care responsibilities, and keeps our front desk area tranquil, tidy, and inviting for both our clients and their beloved pets. 🐾

As we celebrate Veterinary Reception Week, we extend a heartfelt thank you to Coral for her dedication and the immense value she brings to our team. We truly couldn’t do it without her! 🙌
