>>> Welcoming Mady, to the Penny’s Pals Team!

A message from Mady
“ I am so excited to be joining the Pennys Pals team!

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I grew up always having family dogs around and when I moved out I got a job in a grooming salon as a dog bather so I could still get my dog “fix”, until I adopted my own pup Ronnie!

Ronnie challenged everything I thought I knew about owning a dog. He was a perfect angel in the house but his reactivity made taking him anywhere a huge challenge. After meeting Taylor at a community pack walk, I signed Ronnie up for a 3 week board and train that completely changed our lives and made me want to learn everything I possibly could about dog training!

From there I signed Ronnie and I up for every class I possibly could, from basic obedience to dog sports and I changed my career from hotel management to working full time with dogs as a pack hike leader.

Last summer my partner and I adopted Honey into our family. She is the polar opposite of Ronnie and has already taught me so much about sensitive dogs.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone’s pups, continuing to learn from Taylor and help other dogs and owners on their training journey! “

>>> It’s Meeko!

Meeko comes all the way from Seattle Washington to partake in our 3 week stay and train program.

This little low riding cutie is struggling with:
> Reactivity
> Doing “nothing”
> Leash skills
> Excessive whining
& more!

And as an extra bonus his mom would love for me to assess if he would make a good candidate for service dog work - although it’s not our specialty I have been around the block a few times with service dog work & can help with some training, guidance & potential prospects.

I am looking forward to working with and seeing how he progresses! If you would like to watch his progression, his mom posts all the videos I send on her stories!

Stay tuned!

- Out next stay and train availability is June 2025 -

>>> things you can do with your dog while in recovery!

As you all know, my high drive, high energy and high arousal golden just went through elbow surgery, and he is supposed to remain pretty chill for 8 weeks, and to be honest I thought he would put me in early retirement but he has blown me away with his ability to still get what he needs with the little I have been able to give him.

> Crate training: It’s so important to have your dog rest and in the crate is a great place to fully shut off! I suggest doing this as soon as you book the surgery your dog requires.. or before!

> Place training: A place where your pup can be loose in the house with you, but securely on one area! Again, I suggest doing this as soon as you book the surgery, or before..

> Food enrichment: Every meal Atlas has is something he has to work for, either a frozen toppl or a food puzzle of some sort.

> Muzzle training: I believe every dog should be muzzle trained, and now is a perfect time to do it.

> Solidify and proof those down stays: work at a close distance and continue to reward, eventually move away from your dog.

> Neutral outings: Going to get coffee with a loved one? Bring a blanket and a chew, let your dog lay there watching the world go by enjoying their chew.

> Buy cheap plush toys: Go to the dollar store and load up, the enrichment of tearing something apart is a great feeling for your pup!

> Walking & training: When you are able to start walking your dog, make it more fun with markers and food, practice your heel work, and sit stays till you reach the end of the leash and walk back to your dog, reward!

Good luck with your healing journey with your dog! 🫶🏼

•• For those who don’t know, my little apple of my eye, my service dog, my best friend, my little partner in crime, had major surgery on January 2nd ••

Sometime in this guys life, his genetics told his body that it was not to form properly, leading him into a world of hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia. Somewhere in the development, and knowing who Atlas is and the calliper of dog he is, somewhere some impact caused his joints in his elbow to snap and break a piece of bone off, causing the effect of “a rock in your shoe”.

This caused him to go on and off lame, limping and sitting on the side lines, we had finally had enough and ordered for a CT on November 5th, seeing a large fragment on the results. Fast forward to yesterday at pick up, the surgeon was telling us just how big the fragment is, that he had to break it with a chisel in order to get it out without causing damage. The surgeon also said it’s the largest fragment he has ever removed.

For the next 8 weeks will be bed rest and minimal activity, but know how resilient Atlas is he will be back to normal in no time. Thank you to everyone who has wished us well and asked how he has been. We appreciate all of you.

Now to go snuggle my little chicken wing 🫶🏻

** A huge shout out to WAVES for taking care of my littlest bug boy, and making him feel so comfortable. An extra shoutout to Justine, who was so thorough and answered all our questions. **

•• We have decided that after the holiday crazy, we will be taking a whole week off ••

There will be no boarding or daycare during this time, as we are going to recoup and relax, Atlas will be having surgery on January 2nd so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the quiet schedule.

We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

•• We still aren’t done moving in, but I would say 90% of us are ••

Just remember to arrive to the right address for drop off now, and we used to have a luxury of a long driveway so not using a leash for those who were very familiar to us was okay, but now we are requesting a leash at pick up and drop off, as we are now on a slightly busier road and we have two resident squirrels in the trees right infront of our house.

We thank you for the ongoing support, The Massey Family!

✨ Terms and Conditions for 2025 ✨

We have revised our refund policy, and we appreciate your understanding on this change.

Refund Policy If for any reason you need to cancel your pup’s stay, we do require a minimum of 4 weeks notice in order to receive full credit. Less than 4 weeks and you will receive a 50% credit (minus the non-refundable deposit on board and train program) up until 2 weeks before the start of your dogs stay, then all credits are void.
There is no refunds on the board and train program.
Daycare we require 48 hours notice for any and all credits.

We still remain pre-paid programs.

** Emergencies exempted and at the discretion of Penny’s Pals to determine **

We will not be increasing our prices this year, but we will be introducing a holiday rate, meaning on long weekends & during the Christmas holiday there will be an extra charge of $10 per dog, per day.

We still require all guests & daycare kids to be crate trained and have one call recall to participate on any pack hikes, these are non-negotiable.

Again thank you for your understanding on these changes, we greatly appreciate all your love and support.

Mark your calendars 🗓️

Penny’s Pals is moving! We will be able to operate as normal in the new house, which we are so grateful for! Even though we didn’t get everything on our wish list the most important part of this move, is our dogs will have their own personal space, and that’s what pretty much sold us.

We are going to be moving December 15th, so please make sure you arrive at the right location for boarding & daycare after then.

It was incredibly important we found somewhere close to where we are now, because I wanted to make sure that daycare and boarding clients didn’t have to drive to far, thankfully with only 4 more minutes added to the drive we are still in the same area.

Thank you to everyone who share our previous post, sent us homes & gave us a good word! We are so excited for the future adventures.

•• over the last 2 and half years, I have been so flexible about drop off and pick up times, but this year I am tightening up on that rule, to help me and the dogs stay on track, especially now with daycare ••

There will be no drop offs or pick ups between the times of 8:30-1 PM Monday - Friday. Weekends will be different, I will remain flexible during the weekends.

As always I appreciate you all, and thank you so much for your love and support.
