•• Our booked are closed, we have absolutely no more places for any more guests during this time ••

Thank you for your on going support and kindness through the years!

A reminder that holiday dates book up incredibly quick, that it’s best to start booking in August or September. Believe me when I say that because we have been full since September.

We always take a wait list so please always email if you would like to be on it.

✨ This is a long shot but we are still going to shoot our shot! ✨

Hi, I am Taylor (28) and this is my husband, Kyle (33). We have been married just over a year, and have 4 personal dogs; one being a fully registered service dog. Penny (6 y/o mutt), Striker (4 y/o Golden Retriever), Kolt (1.5 y/o Australian Shepherd), and Atlas (2.5 Golden Retriever & Registered Service Dog). We have finally outgrown our current home at the in-laws after 3 years and are looking for a new, larger space to call our own.

Here is where the long shot comes in - I am the owner and operator of Penny’s Pals, in Victoria BC. With a strong background in training and canine handling, Penny’s Pals creates a safe place for reactive and all dogs. So, alongside our own 4, we have regular canine guests come and stay with us for boarding.

We ensure all dogs pass their trial and assessment, and all dogs are required to be vaccinated, on flea and tick preventions, and crate trained.
We strive for a quiet, calm, relaxing home environment for us but also for the dogs. We hike the dogs on rented private property daily, and do our best to make sure the house is quiet at all time.

•• I am in such aw, a program I started not even a year ago is now completely full, I am so blessed for all the daycare kiddos and clients who have been committed to this program ••

We are currently taking a waitlist, and will hopefully be able to open up more spots soon.

Our program is dedicated and designed for dogs that don’t do well in mainstream daycare and boarding facilities, or for dog parents that just want a little more routine in their dogs lives. We hike on 10 acres of private property, as long as your dog has one call recall, and we do crate rotation and proper socializing. It’s not about your dog being absolutely exhausted when they go home, it’s about being mentally and physically fulfilled.

If you are interested in our structured daycare program, make sure you email to be on the waitlist.

* Must be crate trained & have good recall to attend hikes, otherwise we provide street walks *

🖤RAVEN🖤

It has taken me a while to write this post as we have had a lot going on with this dog and I didn’t feel ready until we had a more informed picture to share.

As many of you know, Raven (literally) found us a few weeks ago, we tracked down her owner who were not in a position to take her back so we officially took her on as a foster dog. Raven’s full story can be found on her highlight on our profile.🫶🏻

Raven has been diagnosed with EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) which is a common genetic condition in German Shepherds meaning they lack the appropriate digestive enzymes in their systems to properly absorb food. The solution is simple but lifelong in that she will need added enzyme supplementation to each meal for the rest of her life.

💫We are working with and are so grateful for their proactive approach with helping figure our girl out and get her on the right path forward!💫

We are determined to get Raven on the right track and her health is the most important place to start! Due to her extreme malnourishment and trauma caused by her prior situation, we have yet to see the full extent of Ravens personality but so far she is sweet and VERY people oriented and friendly. She prefers the company of male dogs and has been enjoying off leash pack hikes with us. We have so far done e collar and muzzle training with her to help advocate for her preferences and space while giving her the exercise and attention her breed craves.

Raven is not yet available for adoption but will be in the future to the right home.🏡

We have started “Raising Funds for Raven” donations to help her get her life back on track. Her vet bills and food are stacking up and now she will also have on going supplements and medication. We want her to succeed and are determined to support her journey and any additional help and funds go a long way towards helping us/her accomplish those goals!💫
THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated, your donations went towards extensive bloodwork that resulted in the EPI diagnosis!

•• Atlas the Greek God of, strength and endurance ••

This dude, oh my goodness this dude. He is one incredible partner, he is an incredible side kick, dog, best friend and more. Every time we go away for a seminar or an event he never ceases to amaze me.

This past weekend was actually supposed to be Kolt’s weekend, but I decided not to drive and bring Atlas on the plane ride to visit his favourite place in the whole wide world. Seriously we joke about if anything happened to me, Atlas would pack his own bags and walk himself to .caninehub.

This weekend, we got to not only make new friends, see some old ones, deepen connections, learn new skills, learn new tricks & even learn some new ways to proof obedience. Definitely a great way to end the sport season.

Thank you to for pulling me out of my comfort zone and doing something a little different with Atlas, thank you for your patience and support during each of our sessions, especially thank you to Florence, for constantly being our WOO girl.

Atlas, the golden retriever I never wanted, now doing everything I always wanted and more. Life is funny the way it works out ✨🍂

Thank you for this 🥺

•• Trying to get a head start of closure dates ••

For November Kyle and I have an annual trip to Tofino, so our books are fully closed during that time as of right now. If there is a massive influx of people needing boarding, I do have Emily on standby.

We will be closed for daycare during the Christmas Holiday, but still accepting boarding - we have 1-2 spots left in the books for your pup if you need it, please let me know soon as I will be turning people away this year.

As always thank you so much for trusting me with your pups 🫶🏼

✨ The PNW Championship ✨

I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished this weekend, and that’s 8th in Time Warp, and totally unknowing that we had an amazing round, 3 throws and 3 catches, and our new personal best.

It surprised me that Atlas was the only golden retriever in an ocean of german shepherds, boarder collies, australian shepherds & whippets. Making this ribbon all the more special, and even more special because about a month before the championships, I was going to pull Atlas from the games, because my anxiety got the best of me, thanking myself we stuck it through after chatting with Sara & now we are walking away with a ribbon.

It also blows my mind that when I adopted Atlas, the last thing in the world I wanted to play was disc, and now I am willing to travel to throw plastic in the air for him.

And as always a big thank you to my home away from home, for always encouraging Atlas and I, and letting us crash 10 feet away from your house .caninehub

I love you bug! You never let me down 🤎

•• Introducing Reed to our stay and train program ••

Reed is my last board and train until Jan 2025, and I am so looking forward to the transformation we can hopefully accomplish.

For most of you, you already know Reed from daycare posts and stories, but what you don’t know is he is actually a complicated guy!

Hopefully over the next 21 days we can boost his confidence, learn that biting isn’t an option anymore, keep the peace around his triggers and look to his people for guidance rather than making his own poor choices. There are a few other things on their wish list but I won’t bore you with that.

Reeds journey will not be posted on social media at this time, but if you have any questions please feel free to dm me.

Booking all next Stay and Trains for January 2025!

•• I am only 2 weeks late introducing Benny, but here is the man of the hour! ••

Benny’s wish list is, to figure out the source of his recourse guarding grass clumps along with a few other things at the dog park, which we have been slowly but surely putting the puzzle pieces too. They also would like him to have a reliable recall, without wondering, no pulling on leash and a few other goals on the list!

This guy has been stubborn, true to his breed but also super fun to figure out what makes him tick, why he does what he does and just a pleasure to train! One more week till he goes home & he’s made amazing progress already.

Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this dude.

•Introducing Hank, to our board and train program•

Hank, is a golden doodle dealing with extreme stress, over stimulation & and panicked mind. His parents were advised unknowingly to talk to him, to constantly feed him and to amp this mental load that he already carried.

I have been working with Hank, before his board and train and we have been able to make leaps and bounds, but we are hoping we can get a little bit further with the help of the ecollar.

His wish list is, getting to new locations and showing some signs of relaxation, or just ability to follow direction and not screaming, breaking his parents ears. A reliable recall, not pulling and whining passing other dogs on walks.

Along with a few other things we are hoping go make some changes.

This isn’t just “over stimulation” this is over arousal, over stressed, over anxiety and in a constant state or panic. Training Hank isn’t easy, it takes patience, and it takes time. Which is what we are giving him.

- Doesn’t mean the program won’t come back, but after my last current booking it will be on pause -

It’s been two years of Penny’s Pals, and I have almost consistently have had a board and train / stay and train, for the last two years, so I am taking a step back and allowing myself to breathe and have a moment without.

I have loved and cherished every single dog that I have had come through these these door for training, and oh boy have we made some lives change for the better, but after two years of being on all the time, my body needs a rest.

I will be taking a wait list of stay and trains and also giving referrals outwards, so please don’t ever hesitate to inquire still.
I will still be offering 1:1 training sessions to help guide you and your pup in the right direction.

I am still providing boarding dedicated towards structure, for those who need it.

Thank you so much for your understanding, and I look forward to the future.

over the last weekend i went to see a dog training seminar, there was some beautiful heathy discussion around the training choices they made which i can appreciate because for some they have reach the end of the line for their dogs, this is their dogs last chance. it’s this or euthanasia.
-
although i don’t see myself using most of these methods, the support in the room was incredible, the emotion in the room getting that much further than they couldn’t before was so incredible, that it was almost overwhelming.
-
what fell short for me was the lack of support towards those who found these techniques to be too emotional for them, and decided to remove themselves. it is ok to say, “this isn’t for me and i don’t want to work with dogs at this degree” , and removing yourself, to me that makes you a better dog trainer.
i can step back from everything and understand every single side to these stories, and why the session guided in the way that it had. which i am thankful for.
-
my take aways are pretty huge, and significant to the business side of things, which will be announced at another time, but the main take away, is that the community that i came here with, is truly one of the best i have ever seen. the trainer on trainer support is mind blowing, bridging the gaps is finally starting to happen, and i couldn’t be more proud of this generation of dog trainers.
-
thankful for all of you.

•• Now that the weather is getting increasingly hotter, it can be a concern for training sessions! ••

You will receive an email rescheduled your training sessions if they take place after 10:30 AM, I will be opening up a few evenings and earlier than 9:30 AM mornings on Saturdays.

As for boarding drop offs and daycare drop offs, the earlier the better for the hike, so we can keep cool before it becomes a hazard.

Please take note of signs of over heating and heat stroke in dogs, make sure you have enough water and whatever entities necessary to keep your dogs cool this summer.

Thank you for understanding, and working together to keep us and the dogs each safe.

•• 223 days, of Willow ••

Watching Willow, grow and become her true self, with a heart of gold, a need to please and an on going love for food, has been so rewarding.

Watching her grow, make friends in the pack and making human connections all across the way has been an honour.

You will be missed Willow, but I will never forget these 223 days with you.

Huge thank you to for trusting me with this little gal!
