Haliburton Community Organic Farm We are an organic farm on Vancouver Island providing healthy food, educational programs and community-building opportunities since 2001.

We are a Community Organic Farm. We have 7 farming businesses on site which include 5 farms and two seedling businesses, all certified organic. The farms work together to fill a box program in the summer and collaborate to sell produce, flowers and plant starts at various farmers markets around the Victoria/CRD areas. Haliburton's own resident mentor, Farmer Shellie, joins us next Saturday to present a workshop on Growing Ginger and Sweet Potatoes.

You can easily grow robust tropical harvests from your home gardens. Learn the tips and tricks to get ahead of the season for a bigger harvest. 

This workshop is for home gardeners and container growers wanting to expand their harvest varieties.

Join us at SAANICH SEEDY SATURDAY with our local garlic expert, Derek Powell, from Westcoast Garlic.

Westcoast Garlic provides high-quality, certified organic seed garlic and shares expert knowledge on how to grow and save it!

Derek Powell will be bringing up to 20 strains of garlic, many of which can still be planted throughout the month of February. He will also have garlic powder and garlic braids.

Coming from the perspective of promoting healthy soil and plant nutrition, she brings organic fertilizers, soil amendments, and microbial products to the table. Her role is in helping people grow the best, most nutrient dense plants from their seeds and starts.

This workshop is for farmers and food growers with an interest in better understanding and applying the basics of soil fertility, soil sampling, and soil health indicators to better manage their soils.

We will cover the foundations of soil fertility management and explore resources and tools available to you in this region including how and why to take samples and how to choose a soil laboratory for analysis.
