The Victoria Bug Zoo provides a look into the amazing world of insects, arachnids, and their relatives. Come in and discover over 40 species of bugs including giant walking sticks, beautiful praying mantis, glow-in-the-dark scorpions, and Canada's largest ant colony. Bug tour guides

provide a safe and fun bug handling experience for the more adventurous. If you are in Victoria, be sure to stop by for this many-legged adventure! Our gift shop has unique gifts for visitors of all ages. Pick up a fun book, stuffy, local hand-crafted gift, or even some edible bugs! The Bug Zoo's party room is available for rental for birthday parties, staff parties, or any other bug loving get-together! Like our page for up to date information, special events, contests, and photos! Feel free to post pictures from you visit to the Bug Zoo or any bugs you would like identified!

Ready made enclosures coming soon!!!

If you are interested in one now, please email us and you can pay a deposit (that will go towards the total cost) to ensure you are one of the first to have one!

Once they are available, please remember that we need 24 hour notice via call or email. The 24 hours will be from our response unless otherwise mentioned if you reach out via email.

These enclosures can include dairy cow isopods, powder orange isopods or two American millipedes! These animals are also available without the enclosure for a lower price.

We officially have an audio tour for those who aren’t as comfy being close and personal to the bugs!

With almost every animal we have on display, we have a corresponding audio to go with them! Each audio is also transcribed so you can read along instead if you’d like to.

In order to access this, you will need to bring in a smart device that can attach to our WiFi. We ask that if you plan on using this feature, that you wear headphones or listen to it at a lower volume.

We currently only have the tour available in English but hope to also have Mandarin and Japanese in the new year!

An end of an era!

The forever empty silk moth enclosure has been replaced with a new and improved Hooded Katydid exhibit!

With silk moths only living for so long we decided it would be best to have an exhibit that houses someone all year long. Don’t worry though, we will still have silk moths come summer, they will just be in a new, collapsible tank.

Jaymie and Calyn (most jaymie, sorry Calyn), are now officially the strongest people at the zoo for moving the old giant enclosure out! Come in and appreciate Jaymie’s decoration skills inside the new tank.

If they have a Bug Zoo sticker on them, they were made my Karlee from buggos who passed away at the zoo. No bug zoo sticker on the back? That means they were made by !

Thank you for another great year!! We couldn’t have done it without you, our amazing and passionate staff, and of course, the BUGS! 2023 was an exciting year with some incredible highs (getting 100k+ followers on Tik Tok) and some sad lows (saying goodbye to Helga, our Burgundy Goliath). All that being said, we can’t wait for what 2024 has in store for us! Ps we are closed today because bugs gotta celebrate too
