Some dogs leave paw prints not just on our hearts, but on the very rhythm of our existence. Cienna was one of those rare and remarkable souls.❤️ For years, she graced her family’s world with a soft, golden presence - a blend of Irish Setter grace and Golden Retriever heart. Through every season, she offered unwavering love, gentle companionship, and a comforting presence that words can hardly capture. As a long-term palliative care patient of ours, Cienna showed us the true meaning of resilience, dignity, and devotion. Today, as we honour her memory, we also celebrate the unforgettable bond she shared with her family - one that will never fade.
A heartfelt tribute to Cienna is included below by her deeply devoted family🌈💔🐾:

“June 13, 2013 to March 11, 2025

Cienna, our beautiful 12-year-old Irish Setter/Golden Retriever girl, crossed the rainbow bridge today. 🐾 March 11, 2025 marks the day our hearts broke, but also the day we celebrate the incredible life she lived, with her beautiful golden and red coat.

“It’s been a long day without you, my friend.” And indeed it has. “Who knew all the planes we flew, good things we’ve been through, that I’d be standing right here talking to you about another path.” Cienna, your gentle, loyal spirit guided us down a path of pure love and unwavering loyalty. You were our comfort, our joy, and our furry best friend. You taught us to appreciate the simple moments, to find happiness in every day, and to love without reservation.

The silence in our home is deafening, but the echoes of your happy barks and gentle snores will forever fill our memories. We’re so grateful for the 12 years of love and laughter you gave us. We’ll miss you dearly, sweet girl. “How could we not talk about family when family’s all that we got?” Cienna, always and forever. ❤️”

When I went to adopt a cat she picked me by jumping up on the chair and sitting down beside me with her big purr as soon as I got in the room. She was skeptical of my husband when we first met, but quickly pegged him as a complete suck who would always give her more treats. She is deeply missed.”♥️🐾🌈

In loving memory of one of our own, sweet Mr Coco💔🌈🐾
“As I sift through the memories, both on my hard drive and in my heart, I realize how difficult it can be to write something that encompasses all that our Mr Coco and the 12 years, 1 month and 2 days we got to share with him, truly means. It’s taken me a whole month, in fact. Mr Coco came into our lives as a smelly, ragged, little 3 year old medical foster who’d just had his left eye removed. Our mission, which we chose to accept, was to help him heal until he was ready to be adopted. But it soon became quite clear that he fit — in our life, in our home, with our other dog, even on my chest as I lay on the couch with the flu – so we adopted this magical little gremlin who we then got to watch grow and settle into a confident little man who allowed us to adore him and shower him with all our love… and the odd tater tot. His origin story was heartbreaking but with the help of our dog-centric family and friends, he learned about love, trust, and 8sies (8pm treat time!), about regular walkies, sniffaris, runs on the beach and meeting horses. He loved trundling along, exploring in his own little world, sunning himself on the grass and then chilling in the “Coco Cabana”, laying on the driveway before dinner watching people and their dogs walk by, going unnoticed himself. He blended into his surroundings, and our life, seamlessly. His bursts of playfulness, were short, but oh, so sweet. He was eternally patient, though had the most polite little gentle squeak when he wanted something.  He lived life on his own terms, and we did our best to follow his lead.
Mr Coco was also a part of the Resting Paws family, being my support as I helped other families as they navigated the same heartbreaking decision, we had to make. And though my work didn’t make it any easier to make that call to Dr Vanessa, when it was time, I am eternally grateful we were able to say goodbye to our best friend at home, while he fell asleep on my chest… one last time.

Sweet Elsa was a gentle soul. Her unwavering love for her family radiated through each step she took, whether exploring the trails of BC or tenderly watching over “her” (human) little ones. She was a true companion and a heart dog in every sense, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever. Our hearts are with her family as they navigate this profound loss. “Elsa, Born in back yard in the far north of New Zealand, bought as a hunting dog but never used to hunt or trained as one. five years later she was up for adoption and that’s when our paths crossed we agreed to foster and never look back, It was love.
We moved to Canada in 2019 along with our other GSP Oakleigh, we hiked, explored, relaxed and camped many places within BC she never met a dog she didn’t like, Lover of all children including our 3 always watching over them at home and when out and about, she’d let the little ones patiently walk her leash and would run along beside them on the trails, she was my constant friend, my shadow, my heart dog and will be dearly missed.” ♥️🐾 🌈

Whether playing hide and seek, rolling around in the snow, or simply making his presence known (as he always did!), Finnigan never lost his puppy-like spirit. Finn’s deeply devoted and caring family shared the following touching words in his memory:
“We were so lucky to have our Finny with us for just shy of 14 years — the happy, long life he deserved. Finn was at the heart of our family. His gentle and kind soul brought each of us such comfort and companionship through so many years of life’s ups and downs. Finn was deeply observant and empathetic, and never more than an arm’s reach away from us — the depth he is already missed is profound. Even as Finn’s body aged, he also stayed true to the youthful puppy spirit we met all those years ago. His sweet, silly joy for life and people made him a friend to everyone, from passing neighbours to extended family to the 3 of us as his most cherished buddies — everyone loved Finnigan.
We’re so grateful to Dr. Vanessa, Zoe & the Resting Paws team for their compassion throughout one of our toughest goodbyes. As we grieve, we’ll take comfort in knowing we had such gracious help in easing Finn’s pain with dignity and great care.
In truth, words will fall short in describing the immensity of our loss — his personality and light filled the room. Maybe now the best way we can honour his love and legacy is to channel all his life’s strengths in ourselves, and to continue to care for each other as much as he cared for us. “Having Lyla as part of our family was one of the best things that happened to us! We got her as a puppy when my youngest was 2 years old back in 2009 and she was truly a member of our family. She was an avid hiker, runner, cat chaser and even once, accidentally killed a chicken. She passed away very comfortably at almost 16 years of age and will be sorely missed.” ♥️🐾

Precious, little Velcro was the ultimate trooper - a little dog with a big heart and an unbreakable spirit. Despite the medical challenges he faced, he never let it dim his light 🌟 He remained the sweetest, happiest boy, always eager to showcase his sheer cuteness and accept payment in the form of belly rubs (a currency he gladly collected).🥰
Velcro found his dream family, and they found him - a perfect match bound by love, loyalty, and endless joy. The cherished memories he leaves behind will remain wrapped around their hearts forever - just like Velcro

“With the help of Resting Paws, Velcro passed away peacefully at home with no anxiety or pain and we cannot thank them enough for that gift. Velcro was only with us for the last four years and five months of his life which, unfortunately, were filled with vet visits and procedures. Through it all, he maintained his love of life and of everyone around him, although that love did not extend to other dogs. He was a very special boy who just lived to give kisses with his very long tongue! Queenie, the cat, learned to appreciate him too but never did like those kisses on her face. We miss you so much, Velcro, and cherish our memories of you being a total nut job with your crooked smile and your wiggling little butt. Your “I’m cutsie” pose always made us stop what we were doing to give you tummy rubs. Our hearts are shattered, but we are forever grateful that you chose us to be your forever family. Rest in peace little bubba.” ♥️🐾🌈

Sweet Browning was the embodiment of pure joy. She was the happiest, most loving, and fiercely loyal companion - a dog who made every moment brighter just by being in it. 🥰
Browning’s zest for life was unmatched, especially when food was involved 😋. No matter where she was in the house, the sound of the fridge door opening was her undeniable call to action. She’d come running, eyes full of hope, ready for whatever treat might come her way. And while she never met a snack she didn’t love, nothing quite compared to her favorite indulgence - wine gums.
We are honored to have been part of her journey, and we send our heartfelt condolences to her family.

“Browning, wiggle butt, monkey, sweet baby girl, you will be forever loved and missed. You made coming home so much more enjoyable. Your gentle and loving nature always filled our hearts, your grumbling bottomless stomach always cleaned up our leftovers and your eagerness to be always present meant you never showed up late for breakfast or dinner. Our favorite was your well worn tail always beating to it’s own drum filling the house with such sweet sounds as it struck the floor, the wall or anything else in its path. You were happy, loyal, determined, and a dog we will never be able to replicate. Your puppy mentality outlasted that body of yours though you tried your best to keep pushing through. “It’s with heavy hearts we’re informing you that our beautiful blue boy has passed on. We owe him so much more than we’ll ever imagine and we can only hope our love for him was received in full. Blue is the reason our family is together. He truly was our fur baby and will forever be remember as our perfect boy.
Blue’s impact was understandably immense. His joy and energy matched his size, and his acceptance of all that walked the earth was admirable. His love for the water was only rivalled for the love he had for his family. Often spending hours swimming, diving and of course splashing.
Blue was so much more than a dog to us. Never assuming judgement, he could always make you feel as if everything was going to be ok..”So long as you continue petting my head!”
In all seriousness he lead many different roles in our family. He was an adventuring partner, climbing high hills and searching for life’s treasures, as well as a fishing partner. He was a running partner and a job site Forman, (for six beautiful years). He was a beach walker spending countless weeks and weekends at his favourite place in the world… the cabin. He was a therapy dog, a daycare icon, a washing machine and a teacher. He was a best friend to us and the girls, a brother and the best dog ever. We can’t thank him enough for giving us 12 amazing years of love and kindness.
I believe that Blues loving impact will be felt by whomever he came in contact with and that his legacy in our family will never be forgotten.”🐾🩵♥️🌈

“During Marlo’s 9 years she brought such immense joy into our lives. She embodied her happiness with the classic boxer jellybean dance. Marlo was our first baby, which meant she got a couple years of dog focused adventures, but then she loved even more when the kids came along. She napped with our babies, played dress up with toddlers and then walked kids to and from school. She loved us all unwaveringly.

We will never feel like we had enough time with her. We learnt of her cancer two months before her passing. Being able to say goodbye in peace and at home was a gift we are so grateful to the Resting Paws team for. We keep Marlo close in our hearts.” 💕 🐾🌈

“Oliver was a wild one - he loved hunting, exploring on our walks, and napping in the dirt... all while demanding that his heating pad be on at all times. Peaceful Goodbye on the beach

🌊✨ The Resting Paws team had the honour of helping a beloved family dog find peace in their favorite place on earth: the beach ☀️ 🏖️ With the warmth of the sun’s rays and the soothing sound of the ocean waves, a beautiful soul passed peacefully over the rainbow bridge, surrounded by her favourite people 🌈❤️🐾 We are incredibly grateful to be able to provide our services to the dedicated pet families of Victoria - thank you for entrusting Resting Paws with these significant and meaningful moments.
