“Our beautiful Maggie was with us for 12 wonderful years. We adopted her as a three-year-old who had been dumped on a gulf island. She was rescued by RestQ Sanctuary after she was found begging for food for three days, at a house near the ferry terminal. No one on the island knew her, so she was sent to the SPCA on a larger island to try to find a home. They described her as such a nice cat - despite what she had been through - who deserved a home. Maggie chose me, when she saw me walk into that SPCA. It was one of the luckiest days of my life, as this beautiful little kitty displayed such a sweet, loving personality and resilience to the end of her days. Hissing or scratching at people was just never in her playbook.

For the first ten years that Maggie was with us, we lived on a large lakeside property on that gulf island. Maggie was queen of all she surveyed, both inside and out. She enjoyed her canine sister, Lucy, and together they had many adventures on the property. Maggie always tried to cuddle with the dog, but only succeeded in surreptitious touches when Lucy was asleep.

Both pets adapted well two years ago when we made the move to a more urban environment. Maggie became an inside cat and found many comfortable spots that she really enjoyed. Nothing better than a lap, from where unlimited head scritches could be had. After we lost Lucy a year ago, Maggie mourned along with us and really took charge of looking after us. Always chatty, sociable and affectionate, she took those personality traits to a new level. She provided so much love and comfort, and definitely knew when it was needed.

Maggie is missed beyond measure, and her unforgettable spirit will be with us always. Love you always, Mags 💕🐾”

“In Loving Memory of Yuki.
He always loved boxes and tried to go in all of them even when he couldn’t fit. He was a gentleman of a cat and would never steal food, except for chicken and homemade cookies. If you came up to give him a pat while he was sleeping, he would extend an infamous paw of love to you. He really liked the yeow cat toys. He wanted to be a part of everything and would often rub his scent on your pencil or pen when writing or sprawl out on an ongoing board game. He was friendly to everyone and could have gotten an award for ‘World’s Best Greeter’. He loved going outside to smell things and scratch on his favorite tree. He would always greet you with purrs and blinkies and would cheer you up if you had a hard day. He had a love for flowers, vegetables, and pineapples. He loved to sprawl out in the sun and almost always had a big smile on his face. He is missed greatly and will always be the King of the Universe. May he have sun to lie in, cookies and chicken to eat, flowers, and a lovely view wherever he may be.”

- and Sadie was one of them. From a last-minute rescue to a life overflowing with love and adventure, she embraced every moment with joy. She was happiest out on the water, cruising in her little life jacket and soaking up the sunshine on the boat. Sadie’s sweet spirit and boundless heart brought light to everyone who knew her. She will be forever cherished and deeply missed.

“One night when I couldn’t sleep I was scrolling Facebook and I saw a post from a rescue group in California. The post said the rescue had until noon the next day to pick up 4 chihuahuas or they would be euthanized. I impulsively said I will adopt Sadie!! 5 days later and 3 hours before Sadie’s flight was going to land in Victoria I sent my husband an “we need to talk” text. It was love at first sight when we picked her up. Sadie was up for anything! She loved boating, kayaking, swimming, and her favorite place to go was Sidney Spit. Sadie was so sweet and affectionate and everyone loved her. We are devastated she’s gone but so thankful we got to love and care for her for the last 11 years. Thank you so much Resting Paws for helping Sadie pass in my arms surrounded by love.”

“Stella had the worst of this world and the best of this world..Born in Mexico, she got lucky and found her way to Vancouver Island (probably because of her gorgeous brown eyes!), only to find neglect and abuse here. Luckily, she got another chance at a good life when Karen, her wonderful foster mom saved her and brought a village to help Stella back. She was broken beyond words. But with great help like Ron’s last chance rescue and Karen, Stella started trusting the world again. It helped that Stella always wanted to love people... And food!
Stella found her happiness at her third go around. She came to visit us for a “three hour tour”, and it was love on the spot. She never left our home. She had an amazing 7 years with us and her little brother - also from Mexico - filled with lots of love, comfy beds (she was partial for down duvets), good food, tons of exercise and off leash adventures.

Stella was so gorgeous, with her long stiletto legs, and her brown eyes that reflected the soul of the world. She was an amazing friend, always at my side - my shadow. She won countless hearts with her sweet and gentle demeanor.

She will forever be missed by us, many friends and neighbours and Sparky, her very own therapy dog who did an amazing job at showing her that the world is a good place after all.

Rest in peace my sweet girl, you will always be in our hearts.”

“Dandy was the first born of his litter on May 17 2017 and passed October 18th 2025. He truly lived up to his name, he was a handsome, goofy, loving fellow. As a clutzy gentle giant he loved to cuddle up to near everyone who sat down with him. If he wasn’t snoozing he was sniffing, his walks always consisted of letting him follow his nose. He loved frozen mango, cucumbers, carrots, peanut butter and chicken strips. He leaves behind his littermate Cru and best friend Honeybun. He joins his mum Ruby and former pals Jaida, Timmy, Mac, Candy & Monty across the rainbow bridge, where we like to believe is a giant farm where they can eat and play. Dandy was silly, lovey and our first son. He changed our lives positively forever. Im so grateful we got to care for and love him while he was here. Thank you for being there when my partner proposed the day before you left Earth, it meant everything to me for you to be there and give my ring a good luck kiss and have your Dandy blessing.
