🚨Attention all pet owners!🚨 Please be aware of the outdoor air quality alert in our area. Due to wildfire smoke, the air quality index is high. Just like us, our pets are affected by poor air quality, especially those with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions. We recommend limiting your pet's outdoor time and keeping them indoors as much as possible with windows closed. During air quality alerts, avoid intense outdoor exercise and only allow brief bathroom breaks outside for your pets. If you notice any signs of air quality irritation in your animals such as coughing, difficulty breathing, or throat irritation, please seek veterinary care immediately. Let's keep our furry friends safe and healthy during this time! 🐾

🐾 A paw-some gesture of gratitude! Benson's owner went above and beyond to thank the incredible WAVES team for their care over the 12 days. Special "Benson" cupcakes for the Neurology Team and a variety of breed-themed cupcakes for the entire hospital. Such a sweet way to express appreciation! 🧁🐶

Attention everyone in Victoria! 🚨 As of July 12, the advisory has been lifted at Elk Lake and Thetis Lake. However, the advisory for Beaver Lake is still in effect at this time. Please be cautious when visiting lakes in the area as there have been reports of blue-green algae present. Blue-green algae can be harmful to both humans and animals, so it's important to avoid contact with affected water. Stay safe and help spread the word to protect our community and environment. 🌊💙🚫

As of July 5, the advisory for Beaver Lake has expanded to include Elk Lake. We continue to monitor water quality in the lake system.

Butters had a small procedure completed at Hillside Veterinary Hospital and although she was excited to have a post-op snack, she couldn't stay awake to finish it! She lives a pampered life with her emergency vet and a general practice vet pawrents.

The 🩸Canadian Animal Blood Bank🩸 works across Canada to run donation clinics to keep clinic like WAVES stocked with blood products. We rely on local blood donors in emergency situations where we don't have compatible blood products on hand. Thank you CABB!
