Mex-Can Pet Partners Crossing borders to help Mexico's companion animals. Founded in Victoria, B.C. in 2000. We are a non-profit society based in Victoria, B.C. Canada.

Dogs are taken into rescue in Guanajuato, Mexico, treated and prepared for adoption into loving homes in British Columbia, Canada.

These guys don’t looked too stressed after their long ride from Guanajuato to Puerto Vallarta. 👍🏼 They will spend the night in a comfortable home thanks to super hosts Michele and Eric. Tomorrow they get on their big flight to Victoria, BC, with many thanks to flight volunteer Maya, where some lucky families will be meeting them after some decompression with me at home, welcomed by the ever hospitable Agnes and Nella. Once again, muchas gracias to Julia and her copilot Maria for all the driving.

Pere (Peregrine) was adopted from us by Emma of Thumbs Up Dog Training and Dom, her husband, a few years ago, after his first adoption did not work out. Some good news! After a month trial with Ian and Elena, Milli (formerly Miel) has been officially adopted. Little Milli came with a few “issues” but is slowly overcoming them. Lots of patience and baby steps are needed with this nervous little girl. ❤️

❤️ Sweet scruffy Bodo has started his trial period in a new home 🤞🤞 send your good wishes for success. He has learned a lot in the last couple of months thanks to Emma at Thumbs Up Dog Training and due to consistency here at foster. We’re missing his energy around here but know that now he’ll get more attention than I could provide.

Little pups have been examined and wormed. Their weights range from 1.06 to 1.38 kilos and they are a mere six weeks old. 😞 Poor little ones never getting enough antibodies from mama’s milk or time for socializing tips from her. We’ll do our best with them. Thanks to everyone who has donated!

What’s a person to do when they see this on the way to work? Our caretaker, Mario, rides a motorcycle so couldn’t take them at the moment, so he messaged me and I sent him back in the vehicle. They are now at the shelter. Four females 😳 surprise, surprise! 🙁

At Parque Florencio Antillon, Guanajuato: successful walks for some of the doggos with many thanks to fellow Canadians living in Guanajuato, volunteers Katelyn (Victoria) and Susan (Winnipeg) and to employee Júlia as always. In Victoria BC. Bodo and I ran into Mike and his dog Tina, who he adopted from us two years ago. They had a good romp in Mike’s back yard. Bodo sure does love the ladies! 🌈 RIP Chico adopted 2017 (formerly Flopi), Margo adopted 2020 and Paddy adopted 2012 (formerly Padme). In the last few weeks we've received news of the passing of these Mex-Can adopted pooches. They were so fortunate to have landed in their forever homes and to have received all the love and care they truly deserved. Thank you to all the adopters and we send our deepest sympathies for your losses. Please take comfort in all the joy they gave you. ❤️

Yesterday's Walk with Julia in Guanajuato - Patsy, Monkey and Chica. As you can see Patsy is the biggest puller of the three, followed by Chica. Monkey is still a little timid and you can see her reaction to sudden movements and changes. www.mex-can.org for info and Adoption Application. Hopeful for a transport to Victoria, B.C. in March 2025.

Buenos dias from Guanajuato! Here are all the littles currently at the shelter in Guanajuato: Masha, Patsy, Clovi, Monkey, Gober, Mailob, Chica, Harry, and Tita. We have no plans for transport until March unless we can find a flight escort before then. Full bios are not yet on the website but stay tuned as we hope to get those up soon. If you currently have a ticket with WestJet PVR direct to YYJ you may be able to help us (not during Christmas holliday embargo).
