What a great that was had at ! Lexington 70 toured around the 4’ Working Hunters achieving good scores and making great improvements. He also jumped the USHJA International Derby but due to limitations in his eyesight, Petra decided to retire.

Casid had top placings, including a win over fences in the Second Year 3’3 Pre Greens, only missing reserve champion by 1 point! Casid then moved to the jump ring and moved up to the 1.20ms!

Friedrich was very competitive in the 0.85ms, including winning the Sunday Classic! He also had top placings including a win in the week.

Calida was a star! She won all but one of her 0.60m classes (she finished second) leaving her to win the classic and finish champion of the decision! In addition, Calida was champion of the Long Stirrup hunters!

Super show :)

A little history behind the name!

Hunter rules specify wearing conventional attire “following the tradition of fox hunting,” which calls for “scarlet or dark colors.” Check out National Show Hunter Hall of Famers Rodney Jenkins wearing scarlet on Quiet Flite in a formal attire class at Devon, c. 1967, from “The Thoroughbred Show Horse” exhibit.

Ever wonder why that “scarlet” jacket is called a “pink coat”? Seems that an 18th-century tailor named Thomas Pinque of London designed the first scarlet fox hunting coat in wool fabric (called Melton) in a deep red to hide the stains if the rider got blood on it while hunting. Each coat was custom-made, so it was referred to as a “pinque coat.” The spelling changed with the times.

A sign of prestige, scarlet is reserved for Masters of Foxhounds and hunt staff. In the Hunter ring, scarlet can be worn for “formal attire” classes. In the Jumpers, scarlet is usually reserved for members of the international team.

Available for lease at Pink Coat Equestrian!
Range of young horses to more seasoned. Indoor ring and heated lounge available to keep warm and dry this winter.
1 - 16.1H imported oldenburg gelding. Suitable for all types of riders. Could jump in the 1.15m next season with a keen rider or teach an older amateur some dressage!
2 - 15.2H VERY well broke dutch warmblood mare. Suitable under .9m/3’. No naughty habits, will always bail you out. Has done everything under the sun. Suitable for any rider.
3 - 16.2H darling warmblood mare. Very kind and very experienced. A taller version of the horse above!
4 - 15.1H 4 year old AQHA gelding. Very fancy, green but kind. He is a super fun horse. Jumps great but is young!
5 - 14.2H TBx mare. Needs some miles but a very fun horse. She would be great for a confident teenager to get lots of time in the saddle on.

Paid lease available
Sir Royal is a 16.1H imported Oldenburg gelding.
He is just the sweetest guy. LOVES people, really wants to please, will do just about anything for a mint. Takes any joke, not a mean bone in his body. Shown up to 1.10 last summer at Thunderbird and was fabulous (and extremely competitive). Also shown through third level dressage, I can do two tempies on him with no tack!
His only vice is he needs a buddy at the in gate when you’re showing. He would love an ambitious Jr/Am to bring up to the 1.20ms.
Huge discount if he is kept at home 🙂
