Did you know that some of the most common causes of anxiety in dogs are:
πŸ˜” fear
😟 separation
πŸ™ aging

Fear-related anxiety can be caused by strange environments (ex: vet clinics), people or animals, and loud noises.

Separation anxiety is a term many pet owners are familiar with. When left alone, dogs with separation anxiety are unable to find comfort.

As a dog ages, age-related anxiety can present itself. This may be associated with CDS (cognitive dysfunction syndrome), which is similar to the early stages of Alzheimer's in humans.

These causes can contribute to the symptoms below.

Do you feel your dog may be suffering from anxiety?

Our vet techs will often assist our veterinarians during large animal appointments.

Dehorning can be part of these appointments. This procedure is done for many reasons, and some are:
- reduce risk of injury to herd mates
- enhance on-farm safety
- safer during transportation

Joelle checked this heifer after the dehorning procedure was complete.

Safety is the #1 priority!

Miss Aspen came to her owners from Estevan, SK. She came in to see our Rosthern staff yesterday and brought her tail wags & joyful personality.

Her markings and coat color are beautiful. Does anyone know what her coat color is called? πŸ€”

Thanks for the puppy love, Miss Aspen. We look forward to seeing you & your owner again soon. πŸ™‚

Bandit aka Little Bonus Bandit by CKC
June 27, 2013 - September 21, 2024

"Bandit came into our home when he was 8 weeks old. He was a constant companion on so many adventures.

Bandit loved camping in our fifth wheel, exploring the campgrounds, meeting new people, getting lots of pets & compliments
on his cuteness, he especially liked to snuggle in a blanket on my lap around the nightly fire then crawl into bed with Mom & Dad.

We spent 9 winters as Snowbirds in Arizona. Bandit was an exceptional traveller, his spot was in between us on his little bed in the front seat of the truck seat belt on! He knew the drill & would eagerly jump into the truck assuming his position. In Arizona he loved the dog park, quickly mastering the agility equipment ( I think he really liked to show off), there were so many dogs of all breeds & sizes to play with, lots of planned activities including Valentine Parties with special treats & a Mardi Gras parade with a float & large dog representation, all in costume! Great fun! Bandit was named Mr. Congeniality at the park.
Bandit travelled many miles. We took a three month road trip to the east coast, Bandit took a boat tour in New Brunswick, got to ride in a tow truck in Indiana, drove the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton but he was fine with a little alone time in the trailer as long as there was music & his blankie. We camped frequently in Banff, Kananaskis & Kelowna.

Bandit loved kids & would try to jump in wagons & strollers to snuggle with them. An open car door was seen as an invitation sometimes. Bandit rarely barked but if he did you had better check it out! Bandit was not a fan of cold weather & hated rain, he would cry if he got wet but was fine with a bath! Forget swimming though, we tried that in the Atlantic - no dice! Bandit didn’t care for β€˜clothes’ but soon figured out coats & boots made winters in Calgary more bare-able.

Bandit liked to sleep under the covers often touching his muzzle to my face & was generally the last one out of bed! He rode with his Dad in the golf cart at the Arizona RV park looking like a celebrity! Bandit had a huge repertoire of tricks he could perform. Bandit liked to go shopping in stores where he could ride in the cart. Bandit liked everybody, humans, dogs & even cats & squirrels. One particular squirrel & Bandit played a game with rules only known to them. He was a sweet little soul. Bandit would always find a sun spot to bathe in. Belly rubs were his favorite, whining if you didn’t notice immediately he was laying on his back giving you a que. I taught him some sign language early on which paid off as the last 2 years he lost his hearing.

He put up with his new little brother although it was obvious sometimes Bisbee tried his patience. Bandit became a mentor at age 9. We all miss our little man so much, he was well loved. He had many pet names, Monkey Dog, Bandito, Meatball, Potato & Bandiebooboo. You gave us 11 terrific years Sweetie.

All dogs go to heaven, I know he’s waiting & playing hard with Bobbie, Butler, Nacia & Lady, the Boston Terrier pack!"
