It is thought that for some cats, providing lots of variety, different flavors, and textures, can overwhelm a cat with choices. Keeping it simple may be best.

Exposing your cat to canned food early in life is important as it is an essential part of their diet.

If a cat has any predisposition at all, just a few days of not eating can cause a potentially fatal condition called hepatic lipidosis. If you feline friend refuses to eat his or her food don’t wait to seek help.

Does your pup like to cool off in the lake on hot summer days? Before taking a dip, make sure it's safe by checking for water advisories. Harmful bacteria such as blue-green algae (learn more here: bit.ly/3wLzpQT), water levels and currents may make some bodies of water unsuitable for swimming. Always supervise your pet and keep safety in mind.

With the province experiencing a heat wave this week, remember to keep your pet safe. Pets have a limited capacity to deal with the heat, and they can quickly become overwhelmed, leading to heat stroke (learn more about the signs and symptoms at www.ovma.org/petcare/pet-safety-tips). If you see an animal left in a hot car in distress, call 911.
