AMAZING ADOPTABLES – Featuring Kids’ Adorable Drawings! 🎨🐾
Finding the right home for our rescue dogs is a labour of love, and these incredible pups are still searching for their perfect match. Their stories have inspired children to create wonderful drawings of them – a testament to how special they truly are! 💖
Let’s spread the word and help these dogs find their forever families:
🐾 Baxter (BC):
A stunning 5-year-old French Bulldog-Boston Terrier mix who’s loyal, trainable, and happiest as the only pet in a calm, adult home. Loves solo walks, car rides, and cuddles. Needs ongoing training support and help managing separation anxiety. Could Baxter’s soulful eyes be your perfect match?
🐾 Charlie (AB):
This 6-year-old Boston Terrier is a quiet, snuggly sweetheart who’s great with dogs and cats. She has special needs due to IBD, which is managed with a strict diet and medication, but her playful spirit and love of sunbathing, toys, and goodnight kisses shine through. Charlie is ready to shower her new family with love – could she be yours?
🐾 Romeo (ON):
At 2 years old, this playful Boston Terrier thrives as the only pet in an active, adult-only home. Loves walks, sunbathing, and cuddles but needs ongoing training and support for his dog reactivity. Ready to fall for Romeo’s charm?
🐾 Swayman (ON):
A lively 10-month-old Boston Terrier mix with energy to spare! Loves kids (big enough that his energy won’t topple them over!), gets along with dogs (with proper introductions), and is crate-trained. Still mastering potty training and manners, but he’s eager to learn. Is Swayman your next adventure buddy?

BTRC alum Frodo is not celebrating his birthday in months anymore. Yes, you heard that right – our infamous puppy ‘Chuck’ is now one!
Frodo’s family celebrated his birthday with a delicious cake, party hats and presents. Rumour has it that the real pawty is today and all of his BT friends are invited. Frodo is quite the popular dude which means this event will have an impressive BT guest list – and you know what that means – a room full of snorts, zoomies and bitey-face! 😂
We wish you all the best, Frodo. It’s been a year full of love and adventure and we can’t wait to celebrate many more with you! ♥
‼️🐾 FOSTER NEEDED: PIPER – CALGARY, AB 🐾‼️
Affectionately known as Pips, Piperoni, and Piper Beans, this sweet 4-year-old girl has a heart full of love to give. Whether napping in the sun, curled up on the couch, or enjoying her fuzzy donut bed, Piper is happiest when she’s showering her family with kisses and cuddles!
Why Piper Needs a New Foster Home
Piper’s current foster family has given her the best care, but a move to another province means she’ll need a new foster home. While this is a foster placement, we’d also love to hear from anyone who may be interested in making Piper a permanent member of their family once her required veterinary care is complete.
Piper’s Journey So Far
Piper has shown incredible resilience through her challenges:
*Eye Removal: Last summer, she lost her left eye due to a ruptured corneal ulcer caused by inward-growing eyelashes. She’s thriving with her adorable new look!
*Dental Procedure: Ten rotten teeth were removed, resolving her discomfort and leaving her feeling much better.
*Knee Surgery: Piper underwent surgery for luxating patellas (sliding kneecaps). She’s recovering well, can tackle stairs (with some help on stiff days), and benefits from arthritis supplements to keep her active.
Piper’s Ideal Home
Piper is a loving companion who craves closeness with her people. Here’s what she needs:
*A Calm, Quiet Environment: A home with teens or adults where she is the only pet.
*Someone Home Often: Piper experiences separation anxiety and does best when she has company throughout the day. She thrives in a remote work setting and naps happily while her foster parent works.
*Patience and Support: Piper has made progress with her leash-walking skills and her reactivity to other dogs but will need continued positive reinforcement in these areas.
*Nearby to Current Medical Team: Piper has a history of UTIs. Prescription food has helped manage this, but she’ll need further testing and possible trea
Dear Santa Paws,
Today, on CELEBRATE SHELTER PETS DAY, I thought it was the perfect time to write to you. Let me just say, boy, oh boy, this Christmas is going to be SOOOOOOO different from my last one!
Last year, I was feeling pretty down. I didn’t think you would be able to find me. First, I was on the streets, and how would you know where to look for me? Then, I ended up in a shelter, and I wasn’t sure how to tell you my new address. I was really sad thinking about waking up on Christmas morning all alone.
But guess what? SANTA, YOU FOUND ME! You didn’t forget about me, and you sent your elves. They didn’t have their usual red and green outfits on, though. Their shirts said “BTRC,” and they were there to take me to my foster home. I couldn’t believe it – you were able to find me! You really are magical, Santa.
I had the best night’s sleep that night, and when I woke up, I couldn’t believe my eyes… there were presents under the Christmas tree, and they were for ME!
The elves at BTRC called me a “Christmas miracle,” but you know what, Santa? The true Christmas miracle is that this year, I get to spend Christmas in my FOREVER HOME! I think back to a year ago when I didn’t know where my next meal was coming from or if I’d ever have a safe place to sleep again. Now, I have loving parents, warm blankets, and plenty of treats and toys to enjoy.
Thank you, Santa Paws, for giving me the greatest gift ever – a family to call my very own. ❤️
With all my love,
Tony

BTRC foster Charlie is not impressed with the weather in Calgary, so she’s decided to stay in doors, lay low and snuggle with her foster sister and BFF, Roxy.
Charlie looks up to Roxy and enjoys her company – sometimes too much. Roxy enjoys the occasional grooming session, but as you can see, she has no qualms about letting Charlie know when enough is enough. 😂
Charlie is being fostered in Calgary, AB and will be up for adoption soon, so stay tuned!
As we enter this holiday season, we want to take a moment to look back at Halloween and all the fun it brought.
We have some proud pups here at BTRC and they deserve to be! Thanks to YOUR votes, Bombom, Romeo and Swayman were recognized in Trupanion’s ‘Tricked out for Treats Pet-tacular 2024 Pet Costume Contest’!
We’d like to thank Trupanion for such a fun way to showcase rescue dogs and YOU, our supporters, for voting for our adorable fosters. This was a great opportunity to spread the word about the work we do at BTRC and showcase dogs who will soon be looking for their forever homes. ❤
Congrats to Bombom, Romeo and Swayman!
P.S. We are accepting applications for Swayman now! Visit www.bostonterrierrescuecanada.com/dog/swayman for more info and an application!

BTRC Foster BomBom finds zen!
Sweater weather – aka shedding season – has arrived! The amount that each dog sheds can be influenced by health factors like allergies, skin conditions or stress. But while even the healthiest short-haired Boston Terrier may not seem like a fur factory, they still participate in the natural hair cycle: growing, resting, and yes, shedding. As the seasons change, shedding ramps up. Think of it as trading in a lightweight jacket for a warmer winter parka.
Dog hair everywhere is something we all have to deal with. But instead of reaching for the vacuum, BTRC foster BomBom suggests embracing tranquility with a soothing lint roller spa treatment!
BTRC foster Piper recently had bilateral patella repair and we’re happy to report that she’s back on her feet and doing well! With a grade 4 patellar luxation in both knees, Piper’s surgery was essential to maintain her mobility and relieve her constant pain.
When Piper returned home after surgery, she was understandably tired and sore. But in true Piper form, she gobbled up her supper before crashing for the evening. In the days following her procedure, Piper’s foster parents made sure she got enough rest, encouraged her to gradually bear weight on her legs and used a belly sling to support her on walks. Piper’s a determined young lady and her fortitude, coupled with her foster parents’ dedication, has yielded great results – Piper’s now walking on her own!
Piper still has some time before she can resume many of her usual activities, so while she’s taking it easy, she’s complied a list of all the things she wants to do once she’s fully healed.
1. Arrange play date with BFF, Magic.
2. Trash annoying post surgery pjs.
3. Chase orange ball for hours.
4. Destroy dreaded cone and hide the evidence.
5. Suntan on the back of the couch (can’t wait to jump on furniture again!)
6. Figure out how to prolong post surgery sympathy from mom and dad.
7. Continue training to be the bestest girl possible. ❤
And though Piper still needs to lay low, we have a feeling this spirited gal will be back to her regular routine in no time!
Cost of Piper’s surgery: $5,812.41
Piper is being fostered in Calgary, AB and is not yet ready to be considered for adoption.
