"Lucky Larry" came into the shelter reportedly hit by a car. He had scrapes on his head and a damaged eye. Medical staff determined that the eye should be removed. "Lucky Larry" rose to fame after being featured on Vanessa's "Girl with the Dogs" YouTube channel and support for his operation came in fast. We're happy to update you that Larry is recovering at our Welland shelter. He's not ready for adoption yet but when he is, we're sure he'll find a great home.

UPDATE:
I'm the granddaughter of the couple who adopted Snoopy a couple of months ago, and figured I'd give a little update on how she's been doing. I wasn't too sure where I should send the update, so I hope this is alright.
She's gotten so comfortable with them and I, and it's so nice to see in comparison to how she was when we first saw her there. Now she's glued to our sides and is always super happy to see us.
She's always excited for car rides and walks, and NEVER wants to stop once she gets going. She and my grandpa go on walks together for hours at a time and she absolutely loves it! She especially loves to roll around and do somersaults in the middle of her walks.
She's also lost a significant amount of weight since we adopted her two months ago. She was roughly 36lbs when we adopted her, and about 3 weeks after her adoption, she'd already lost 5lbs. She's getting so close to her 25lbs!
Overall, she's doing absolutely fantastic, and honestly is the best friend my grandpa could ever ask for. She's his baby and it's always so sweet watching them together.
Thank you so much again for giving them the opportunity to give Snoopy a good home. She's well loved—and a bit spoiled, but she deserves it.
Sweet Angel came into our care a month ago. The love and concern for her has come from over 30 countries. She has had two veterinarian appointments to monitor her progress. Medication for her eye has not resulted in improvements so she will have that eye and her mammary tumours surgically removed next week. In time she'll need extensive dental work done too.
Angel does love her new found freedom to explore and greet others. She has a road ahead of her before she’s healthy enough to be adopted. Your support has given her the best possible chance at the life she deserves. With your support we are helping Angel and other animals in our care who need us the most.

I would like you to meet Zeus! Zeus is a very handsome, affectionate, friendly (although he can be a bit shy initially), playful young dog! Sadly, his family had to give him up as one of the family became severely allergic. Some of his favourite things to do are; hanging out with his human friends, going for long walks at sunset, or any time of the day really, zooming around the yard and lots and lots of tummy rubs. His previous owner has said that he walks well on leash, walking right beside her and will sit at every intersection (with the occasional reminder), swimming is another fun pastime that he enjoys. Zeus really likes toys, and will also play fetch for as long as you want to play. He is very food motivated which can help with his continuing training. Zeus is also crate trained, which makes sure he is safe (as well as your stuff) until he gets through his puppy stage and learns what he can & can't chew on. Zeus sometimes feels insecure in new situations, especially with a lot of new people at once, he should overcome this with patience, time and gradually increasing his exposure as his confidence grows. If you're looking for a very sweet, energetic, happy young dog to motivate you to get out and about and show him around your home town/local trails, all the while teaching and encouraging him, you will be rewarded with a loyal, handsome, loving bundle of joy!!
