Horse hoof care is essential to pre and post riding checks.
Our students learn how to safely handle a horses hooves while inspecting for soundness + cleaning out any impediments to ensure a comfortable ride.

It’s our final week of lessons for 2023!

We’ve had an amazing year - clinics, kids camps, the acquisition of our Shetler Drive property + expanding into boarding, new herd members and teaching more lessons than ever!

Thank you to our students and community supporters 🙏🏽
Our last day of lessons will be Friday December 22.

Our instructors are looking forward to welcoming you back in 2024 starting Monday January 8th!

Our arena footing is a thing of beauty!

Careful consideration was put into ensuring our footing would stand up to factors such as below freezing temperatures and heavy use.

A special blend of additives mixed with textile fibre ensures a soft yet sturdy ground to work in no matter the temperature!

Fall is officially here!

As the weather begins to cool, our focus shifts to those in our community who may need our support.
We have a donation box set up in the Viewing Room to collect any non-perishable food items, and good condition warm clothing for the Central Okanagan Food Bank + The Gospel Mission!

They both are looking forward to coaching our interested students through the Equine Canada Western Rider program as well.

Staff Spotlight Feature:

⭐️ Meet Jen ⭐️

Jen grew up in Vancouver BC, and was on a horse at a young age.
She started riding English and competed in Dressage for 17 years, before moving to the Okanagan and began riding Western.
Her kiddos, Jack (10) and Molly (9) are accomplished riders in their own right!
WKS visitors will often see Jack + Molly around the barn riding + helping out.
Our lesson students love learning with Jen!

When the McDougall Creek wildfire broke out, Jen jumped into action and organized help for those affected + rescued dozens of horses herself.
She even helped transport our WKS horses to safer ground before moving her own which are stabled with our herd.

She is truly appreciated around here, please show some love for this amazing cowgirl!

It’s Monday + we’re thankful to be back to our regular schedule!
The WKS instructors are looking forward to seeing our lessons students and doing what we love the most.

We’re so grateful to all those who continue to protect our community against the fires that are still actively burning in the Okanagan.
Our hearts go out to those who are still under evacuation order and to those who have experienced loss.

Day 4 of the McDougall Fire and we’re still in good spirits!
We are happy to say our property and the neighbourhood of Smith Creek is still standing, and our horses and team members are safe.

Our team is so incredibly grateful to the folks who have taken in + are caring for our herd, as well as the amazing people who helped move our horses with short notice.

We want to extend heartfelt thanks to Sandy and Candace Chevallier, Sylvie and Pat Renauld, and Debbie and Gord Craig for hosting our horses, as well as Jen Sanderson, Kevin Froese, Cooper, Jason and Bud for transporting our herd (+ many others!) to safer ground.

We are truly proud to be part of an incredible community of horse lovers lending a helping hand wherever and whenever!

We recently hosted an Embers group at West Kelowna Stables, teaching them all about stable management, horse safety + grooming!

Each Ember also had a guided ride with plenty of giggles and smiles - our supporting instructors even received a Horseback Riding badge!

We love supporting our community and the next generation of riders!

This upcoming long weekend the Peachland Riding Club are hosting their annual Canada Day race Friday June 30 - Sunday July 2, featuring competitors in barrel racing and pole bending.

Our very own instructor Shea (aka .collective) will be on site with a pop-up booth featuring her hand-made tack + western apparel! Check out her products + say hello!

Their property is located in West Kelowna and is on 5 acres of beautiful farmland. Come enjoy the property and their state of the art barn while you or your child learn the ropes of horseback riding. They offer different levels of lessons, dependant on what level you or your child is at. Offering junior, intermediate and advanced lessons for ages 5+. Their goal is to teach a solid foundation for horse back riding for all levels. They believe that horse back riding starts with learning an empathy and kindness towards animals. They want their riders to feel a connection with the horse. Horse back riding will provide confidence and is great for gross and fine motor skills.
