Power Pup: Maverick
Breed: Aussie Shepard
Age: 4.5 months old

The joys of bringing home the first family pet are quickly replaced by instant fear, sleepless nights, ripped sweaters, torn couches and lot and lots of p*e and poo😅…….but we wouldn’t have it any other way would we?😉. This family reached out to fix all of that, and then some. While some good behaviours may come naturally, most don’t. From the basics of potty training and proper feeding to the relentless pursuit of a structured walk, it’s all a learning curb for everyone; especially the owners😉. It was all embraced with open arms, even on the days that were the most challenging. Their dedication to success was quickly apparent, with their openness to sometimes put themselves in uncomfortable situations so they AND Maverick could learn to manage and deal. Maverick continues to grow and mature, his behaviour changing but so does his owners. Their confidence and ability to be great leaders continued to flourish, resulting in a pup who’s not only a social buttercup but also one who’s embracing his own sense of self. Excellent work guys!!!😊

Power Puppy: Daisy
Breed: Classic American Bulldog
Age: 7.5 months old

When you choose to get a family pet, you don’t get to choose the stigma that comes along with that. Walking an excited bully mix that weighs 75+ lbs who just wants to say hi to everyone can be super stressful but also very intimidating to everyone and their dogs. For visitors coming to the home and those delivery people…..not a nice greeting😅. With some dedication, grit, consistency and boundaries, the family is now well on their way to having a much calmer, manageable and gentle Daisy. The owners fears of not being in control have been washed away and replaced by confidence and pride. Through this experience, there’s now one less bully mix to be stigmatized. Well done Tovie!!!😊🐕

Name: Sky
Breed: Border Collie
Age: 5 years old
Problems: Separation Anxiety, a fear of strangers, leash etiquette, a lack of confidence and fear of inanimate objects

• Having recently gotten Sky from Mexico from a family member, the owners were overwhelmed as this was their first dog. With big hearts, they gave Sky a home and wanted to ensure that the transition was as painless as possible. We worked together to ensure that a proper routine was set in place, that boundaries were adhered to and more importantly…that the owners were educated with a real understanding of what Sky’s needs were that were not being met prior. We worked to desensitize her to her new and very triggering environment. We set in place defined boundaries of separation to give Sky the confidence she needed to be okay when left alone. We added structure to her walks and expectations when dealing with other dogs and people. Not only did we learn how truly special and thankful Sky was to be rescued, we learned that even the most unprepared owners can turn out to be the best pack leaders. Amazing work guys!😊

Power Puppy: Fonzy
Breed: Maltese Poodle
Age: 7 months old

The first family puppy is always nerve racking. The stress of what equates to a new baby into our daily lives. There’s only one chance to get it right. From potty training to feeding routines, crate training to leash etiquette, this family needed all the help. Now educated and empowered, they are more looking forward to the rest of their time with Fonzy and Fonzy is loving his best life. Way to go guys!😊

Power Puppy: Millie
Breed: Chocolate Lab
Age: 7 months old

Millie is cute as a button but as wild as a Tasmanian devil😅. Having been 20+ plus years since having a dog, there were a lot things that the owner had forgotten. The nipping was out of control, as was the potty training and walking. Reintroducing puppy 101 helped to set the foundation from the ground up. Instilling confidence and clear instructions helped Millie immensely but more importantly, empowered her owner so she can be at ease. It’s never a few weeks of work with a puppy, it’s a lifetime commitment. Well done Chantal and Millie!☺️

Power Puppy: Creed
Breed: Siberian Husky
Age: 10 months
Issues: Jumping, door manners,
walking, leash etiquette

Having one Husky can be challenging enough. Adding a second can lead to drinking😅. Fortunately, this family and I had worked together in the past so when a refresher for the new addition was needed, we reconnected. Although the same breed, the personalities will always differ in many ways. Taking things back to basic Puppy 101 allowed the owner to regain control that he thought was far gone. Balance is restored and there is now a great deal of calm where chaos once rained. Way to go Peter, job well done!😎😎😎

Power Puppy: Ollie
Breed: Miniature Poodle
Age: 8 months old

Bringing Ollie home during the pandemic yielded many problems, one of which being separation anxiety. So along with the puppy 101, we also focused on setting the proper boundaries which allowed Ollie to gain the independence needed to be comfortable in his own space, rather than wanting to constantly be around everyone else for comfort. It might seem cute that our pups are always needy but if not addressed, that neediness can quickly escalate to a stressed out puppy and a anxious household which isn’t fun for anyone. Great job everyone and WAY TO GROW Ollie!😊

Power Puppy: Charlie
Breed: German Shepard/Boxer/Pyrenees Mix
Age: 7 months old

Charlie was a handful but we’ll worth the work. Super energetic, strong, no house manners and very bitey. His owner and I worked on building a solid foundation for Charlie, especially when it came to having guests over. While he continues to grow with greeting people, his owner is now enjoying her walks and building a loving relationship with her new pup. Way to go Charlie!😊

Name: Simba
Breed: Pitbull/Boxer Mix
Age: 1.5 months old
Problems: Leash reactivity, pulls mercilessly, super hyper, no doors manners or house etiquette, leash etiquette, recall

This was a very emotional journey to say the least, but one that I’m extremely happy to have been a part of.

I met the owners out of sheer coincidence at one of their lowest points of ownership with Simba. Being first time dog owners they were well out of their depths and beat mentally and physically by Simba’s youth. Neither of them knew what they were in for or how to deal with the spontaneous and demanding nature of owning such a breed. We worked together for months to build up confidence, establish leadership, establish consistent and concise communication between everyone, respect in the home for boundaries(furniture, food, toys, treats) and controlling Simba’s excited ways on walks(lunging and barking at other dogs). We had success and failure along the way but the owners never gave up on him. More importantly though, they never gave up on themselves. This was a prime example of how couples have to support one another emotionally when it comes to working with dogs. It won’t always be easy for some, but grit and determination is what ultimately turns you into the pack leaders that you truly are. Their confidence as Simba’s owners are a direct reflection on the hard work that they’ve put in and their sheer will to succeed despite the setback. I’m so proud of you guys!!!😊😊😊

Name: Bear
Breed: Great Pyrenees
Age: 1.5 years old
Problems: Leash reactivity, pulls like a champ, no door manners, no boundaries

Big family….bigger dog! Bear is an amazingly lovable guy but size does intimidate. This family was at a place where they didn’t want to interact Bear with any other dogs, people, cars, SUVS, bikes and the list goes on. We started from the bottom on built up Bear’s confidence, introduced calm energy, provided consistent leadership and brought a family closer to their dog than they’ve ever been. Bear is well on his way back to the pack and his family is finally getting to enjoy the relationship that they’ve always wanted. Great job!!!😊

Power Puppy Graduate: Hallie
Breed: Aussie Shepard
Age: 4.5 months old

With energy for days, cuteness that can melt any heart and a high drive to work, Hallie is a challenge for any family. We dug our heels in, worked on boundaries, manners, appeasing her desire for play and set up the foundation for a great life. Although the family owned a previous AS, bringing a new puppy home with young kids posed many challenges. All of which this dedicated family was more than willing to tackle. Great job all around!😊

Power Puppy Graduates: Gordie&Petunia
Breed: Havanese&Bischon/Sh*tzu Mix
Age: 10 months old

Not one, but two balls of cuteness with reactivity, freight train like pulling abilities and no house manners. Add a house full of family members doing different things and the recipe was a disaster. Adding structure, confidence, consistency and patience yielded us the results that we’ve been aiming for……..good walks, boundaries, leash manners, little to no reactivity a confident owner and a proud family. Keep up the great work guys!😊

Power Puppy Graduate: Luna
Breed: Alaskan Husky mix
Age: 9.5 months old

Getting a Husky(no matter the mix) as a first dog can be challenging to say the least. Adjusting your busy life to fit their needs is never easy. But I’m wanting the best for Luna, that’s what this owner did. Learning to walk rather than run, to sit rather than jump, to stay out of the kitchen rather than counter surf, to leave It rather than resource guard……. Those are some of the areas we worked on. It was such a pleasure to see this beauty mature and to see her owners learn so much about themselves when it comes to dog ownership. Great dedication Maya!😊

Names: Chai
Breed: Alaskan Husky Mix
Age: 1+
Issues: Terrible on walks, no recall, loves to jump, reactive to other dogs and a lack of door manners

Chai’s owner reached out to me wanting to firm up on Chai’s ever changing personality. As he was heading into maturity, some behaviours were starting to show their bad sides. We worked on proper communication, assertive leadership, proper placement on walks, door manners, corrective cues and continually enforcing recall. As you pup grows, it’s increasingly important that you continue to improve our relationship with them through effective communication and real time training; the work never stops. Great job guys! Stay frosty Chai!😊

Power Puppy Graduate: Oakley
Breed: Golden Retriever
Age: 5.5 months

This girl was a star performer from the first session. Potty training was a breeze, as was Stay, Down, Leave It and Sit. She picked up on all the corrections like a natural. Her families apparent dedication was front and centre which paid dividends in her successes. The family couldn’t be happier and Oakley had nothing but confidence when all was said and done. Great job everyone and well done Oakley!😊
