Happy birthday, Petey! 🎉🎂

Petey was hospitalized with us as he wasn't feeling well from pancreatitis. Our staff loved on him throughout his stay (how could we not-that face!), and he was able to be discharged last night so he could spend his birthday at home with his paw-rents!

We love you, Petey! ❤️

It's a hot one out there today🥵!

Please keep in mind this summer that some surface areas become way too HOT and can cause burns and other damage to our pets paws. The yellow arrow is where we are today, but surfaces can differ! Grass will be cooler than asphalt and sand.

Keep an eye on your pets condition and choose the early morning/evening to walk them vs. midday.

With the hot wave hitting us this week, here’s a reminder about how hot the pavement can get! If it’s too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for them🐾☀️🔥

Our area is under a severe heat warning, and with that comes additional risks to our four-legged companions! 🐾

Heat stroke doesn't just affect humans. 🥵 Our pets are just as susceptible, ESPECIALLY our brachycephalic breeds due to their already restricted airways.

During these conditions, pets should be kept indoors in cool areas and only go outside for potty breaks. Walking should be kept short and limited to the early hours of the morning or late at night to avoid the sun at its strongest.

Peep the post for symptoms of heat stroke and what to do if your pet does get overheated. 👀

We absolutely LOVE when our patients come in after they've recovered and are doing amazing! 🐾

Stark endured a GDV and Splenectomy surgery with us at the age of 10 just over a month ago, and while his recovery was full of challenges, he fought through with the support of his owners and the team and this is him today! 🐶

We're so happy with his success story and wish him many more weekends at the cottage swimming and chasing off geese! ❤️ 🐾

We are in the midst of fledgling season and have had an increasing number of calls/birds brought in with concerns they've been abandoned and are injured. Peep 👀 the post for common facts about fledglings and when to leave them alone!

A baby bird only needs help if:
• They are cold, wet, collapsed, or unresponsive
• They have areas of visible skin
• There are signs of injury, blood, falling over
• They have been in contact with an animal and could be injured
• They have insects or foreign objects (string, sap) on their bodies
• An event was witnessed, such as a collision with a window

If you have any questions, you can reach out to wildlife centers such as Shades of Hope and Sopercreek Wildlife Rescue!

Little Miss Phoebe, a staff pet, has been a warrior during her multiple stays with us. From her leg amputation to her c-section, she was always all purrs and cuddles!

If you're curious about the second picture.. did you know cabbage when crushed can help with mammary pain by soothing the ni***es and helping with milk let down? Phoebe's baby was a milk monster, so we gave her some relief!

Phoebe is back home recovering with her baby. We hope it's speedy! 🐱
