‼️Ticks‼️
Ticks are parasites that suck blood from their hosts, and can carry and transmit dangerous bacteria to your dog’s body. These bacteria live inside the cells and can cause many illnesses that infect thousands of dogs every year.

Conditions that result from a tick bite can also cause serious (and in some cases, fatal) long-term damage. That’s why it’s critical to prevent tick-borne diseases and have symptoms treated early by a veterinarian. If you have found a tick on your dog you should be booking 4Dx blood work in 4-6 weeks post tick-bite.

Remember to keep your dog on flea and tick medication, we recommend you do this year round as any weather above 0 degrees ticks are waiting for their next host!

Routine exam visits help your pet live a healthier life. Wellness testing such as bloodwork and urinalysis allow us to catch potential health issues earlier—this is the reason why we strongly recommend annual wellness screening especially on our senior pets!

For the months of November and December, Millennium City Veterinary Hospital (Pickering) and King Hopkins Pet Hospital (Whitby) will be offering FREE examinations for cats and dogs over the age of 8 years that come in for wellness bloodwork and urinalysis!

We would like everyone to be extremely careful around lakes, beaches, ponds and streams.

Blue-green algae whether it is purposely consumed or ingested coincidentally while swimming is extremely fatal to our pets. Symptoms can begin to show in as little as 15 minutes

If you think your dog may have ingested blue-green algae or swam in waters containing it. Please contact us or your regular vet / Emergency veterinarian immediately.

We have received information that it may be present at Heber Downs.

King Hopkins Pet Hospital is looking for 2 Veterinary Technicians to add to our team. We see cats, dogs, small pocket pets, birds, and reptiles. No day at KHPH is boring, as we see a wide variety of emergencies and referrals, as well as regular wellness appointments, and of course, puppy and kitten vaccines. We are open 24 hours, 365 days a year.

We are fully equipped with digital X-ray, in-house laboratory including SediVue and blood gas machine, dental X-ray and ultrasound.

At King Hopkins we value our technicians and their unique skill set, and as such we offer:
