Dear Pet Owners,

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your family and furry friends.

This past year has been eventful for our veterinary practice, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our incredible community for your unwavering support during challenging times. Serving the northern Canada and Alaska regions, we are often overwhelmed with work, but not a day goes by that we aren’t grateful for the support and kindness from our community here in the north. Here are some stats from us from last year.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. We look forward to continuing to care for your beloved pets in the coming year.

Warm regards.

We are excited to announce that we are now offering annual exam and vaccine appointments with a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). Our RVT’s that will be performing these examinations have completed additional training to broaden their scope of practice to include wellness exams and vaccination. Due to the local vet shortage, we are aware that many of you are waiting months to be able to book in for your pets annual exam and vaccines. We are hoping that by offering this new service we will be able to help alleviate these wait times.

Active clients that have dogs or cats that are healthy and four years of age or younger will be eligible to book these appointments. Some breed restrictions will apply. If you would like to schedule an appointment please call or text 867-633-5700.

Dear Large Animal Clients of Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre,

Due to a shortage of veterinarians, we will no longer be able to guarantee after hours care for large animal emergencies. We must also reduce the large animal services we offer during regular business hours. We apologize to our large animal clientele who will feel the impact of these changes.

Livestock and equine owners that require routine or emergency services may contact a large animal veterinarian through the telemedicine service VETSon. Participants in the Government of Yukon’s Livestock Veterinary Services program may be eligible to have the costs of this service covered by the program. You can contact the Animal Health Unit ([email protected]) with any questions about this program. Energy Equine will also continue to travel to the Yukon to service equine clients.

We appreciate your understanding during this period of change.

Sincerely,

Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre

To accommodate the growing needs of our after-hours emergency services we will be partnering with All Paws Veterinary Clinic. This partnership will allow us to continue to provide after-hours care to our community. Our telephone triage service will remain in place. If your pet is experiencing an emergency after-hours, please call our clinic (867-633-5700) and your call will be relayed to the clinic that is on call for that day.

This change will take effect this coming Tuesday, October 15th.

We recommend keeping an updated record for your pet including their vaccine status, medical conditions and current medications. If you would like a copy of your pet’s full medical records, please contact us.

Sincerely,

Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre

Dear Clients,

We continue to experience an unprecedented demand as we service clients in the Yukon, NWT, Northern BC and Southeast Alaska. We will no longer be using a waitlist to book annual exams. Those clients currently on a waitlist will still be booked. Please wait to hear from us. Starting May 27th, we will be offering appointments for the months of September onwards. Please only call or text to book an appointment. We kindly ask that you choose one method of communication and wait for a response. The average response time is 24-48 hours. Additionally, we will not be answering booking requests sent via email. For open appointments due to cancellations please text us on Monday mornings to check on availability for the week. If your pet is in distress, please call our number and press 1 to speak to our triage service for medical advice. This is free of charge and available 24/7. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
