Meet Chappy and Cici! Chappy has adrenal gland disease, which is very common in ferrets. To help control this disease, he receives a slow-release hormonal implant which is injected under the skin (similar to a microchip), once a year. You are a trooper, Chappy!

Have you ever seen a squirrel wearing a cone collar?! This squirrel had a dermal irritation that we needed to keep clean and dry. With a little bit of imagination, this cone was created out of a dixie cup!

Approximately 95% of cats and 30% of dogs brought to the SPCA cannot be reunited with their guardian because they lack permanent identification! The microchip is rice-sized and has a unique number which we can match to the owner. Although it would be helpful for the runaways, a microchip is not a GPS.

How cute are these guys?! All dogs raised with their mothers possess and live in harmony with this mite. If, however, conditions change to upset the dog's immune system, the Demodex mites can proliferate and cause serious skin diseases. 🐛🐛🐛

Happy release day! This eagle was rescued on January 9th 2024, it had been shot and could not fly. Its wing was severely damaged and it was suffering from lead poisoning. Dr. Bianca Scheidt took radiographs and shipped it to O.W.L. (Delta, BC) to be rehabilitated. It has since been sent back and has been released in Quesnel, where this eagle likely had a mate. After the release, another eagle flew over and landed nearby, hopefully this was the mate! This bald eagle can be identified by the silver band on its right leg and the loss of a couple of flight feathers on its left wing.
