Georgia can smell the start of summer! She cannot wait to have some fun in the sun!
Be mindful, of course, as temperatures rise to take precautions with your outdoor critters: limit time in the heat, avoid pavement/asphalt, and provide fresh water frequently. Keep an extra eye on your brachycephalic breeds, such as pugs, shih tzus, and bull dogs; they are more vulnerable in the heat due to their compromised airways. World Turtle (and Tortoise) Day was this past week and it serves as a great reminder that we all need do whatever we can to help protect these precious little guys and their vulnerable habitats, even if that is just learning more about them and taking care of the environment.
This adorable little tortoise, Tommy, was rescued in Scotland. He loves to roam the grass, munch on some kale, and mind his business.
Please note that our hospital does not see reptiles; if your turtle or tortoise needs medical care, please call us and we'll direct you to the nearest vet office that does see reptiles.

Meet Maxwell- sometimes extended to Maxwell Smartypants! He is just the bestest boy (shh, keep that between us and Maxwell.) He stopped by for his vaccinations and heartworm prevention, and, though he isn't normally one to boast, he let us know that he has forty different toys and he can grab each one by name!

May 6- 10 is Mental Health Week. We hope everyone is taking care of themselves mentally, emotionally, and physically, whether that's by setting time aside to focus on your own needs and wants, reducing stress in your life however possible, or simply practicing positive thinking.
We also wanted to bring to light the mental strain many in the veterinary industry experience, leading to depression, panic attacks, and compassion fatigue. Please remember to show empathy to all you encounter. Here, we're lucky to have our big orange therapy cat, Floyd!

Meet Nala! She's a sweet, loving girl, with enough energy to earn her the nickname 'Velociraptor' at home!
