So what is a guardian home anyway?
Well, it's a WIN/WIN/WIN!
Typically it is 8 week old puppies that go to guardian homes but I am trying to downsize the kennel significantly so I do have some sub-adults available.
With a guardianship agreement a family is able to take home a puppy/dog at no charge. When the pup is old enough I take care of all pre-breeding testing such as OFA hips/elbows and DNA. At approximately 2 years old the pup will be bred and come back to me to whelp and raise a litter. All breeding and whelping expenses are my responsibility. After ONE litter (most breeders require three) you can have her spayed and ownership is transferred to you.
The first WIN is for the dog. This is an opportunity for a dog that I would keep to live in a home and have her own family.
The second WIN is for the family. They get a purebred Labrador Retriever with extensive and expensive health testing being done at no cost to them.
The third WIN is for me. With dogs placed in guardian homes I am able to execute a strong and healthy breeding program without having a kennel and a house full of retired girls.
I currently have 5 females and 2 males (similar but a little different contract) available ranging from 6 months to 1.5 years old and aptitudes from calm companion to high drive hunting skillset.
I will post pictures shortly after Christmas but please feel free to message me if you would like to inquire.
