Drake doesn't have a great deal of interest in hunting and he doesn't have an over the top drive we need for search. I sent him out to foster to become familiar with a house and family. He has done FANTASTIC and is now ready for a forever family.
16 months old with all shots UTD.

So what is a guardian home anyway?
Well, it's a WIN/WIN/WIN!
Typically it is 8 week old puppies that go to guardian homes but I am trying to downsize the kennel significantly so I do have some sub-adults available.
With a guardianship agreement a family is able to take home a puppy/dog at no charge. When the pup is old enough I take care of all pre-breeding testing such as OFA hips/elbows and DNA. At approximately 2 years old the pup will be bred and come back to me to whelp and raise a litter. All breeding and whelping expenses are my responsibility. After ONE litter (most breeders require three) you can have her spayed and ownership is transferred to you.
The first WIN is for the dog. This is an opportunity for a dog that I would keep to live in a home and have her own family.
The second WIN is for the family. They get a purebred Labrador Retriever with extensive and expensive health testing being done at no cost to them.
The third WIN is for me. With dogs placed in guardian homes I am able to execute a strong and healthy breeding program without having a kennel and a house full of retired girls.
I currently have 5 females and 2 males (similar but a little different contract) available ranging from 6 months to 1.5 years old and aptitudes from calm companion to high drive hunting skillset.
I will post pictures shortly after Christmas but please feel free to message me if you would like to inquire.

Hey Breeders...Red Labrador Retrievers will be downsizing significantly over the next year. The plan is to have fewer litters but keep more pups in our training programs. Both DAMS and STUDS to be will be made available as their health teating is done.
First up is Everest, registered name "Ain't No Mountain High Enough".
Everest is a dog that I bought from Saskatchewan as a pup because of his pedigree. He is 13.5 months old and his DNA is done (clear across the board), his parents hips were both excellent/elbows normal, awesome hunting pedigree.
I had his yearly vaccines done and pre-freezing s***m checked last week and it was excellent.

Hey...I just realized something.
Since Minnie's litter was sired by "Bud" who starred in our 2021 Season Opener Budweiser Commercial I think that means that Minnie made Mini BUDS...LOL

In my humble opinion...
I am posting this because I would really like to share my thoughts about getting a puppy from a breeder vs a shelter dog. I am not looking for feedback nor a fight and this is certainly not meant as "in my defense" because I have nothing to defend.
I see time and time again "adopt don't shop". Now I have started to see absolute smear campaigns against all dog breeders as if we all fall under the same blanket... and OMG, the shaming being put on people who choose a puppy from a breeder is really unacceptable.
So please, allow me to share some insight.
I don't pretend to know what a breeders specific purposes should be but certainly any breeding program should be built on a purpose to improve the breed. Utilizing the health testing available for each breed is paramount.
There is a world of difference between breeding to pump out puppies and breeding for a purpose.
If a breeder is not breeding for a health, temperament and predicability then by all means, you can can find wonderful dogs in shelters that fit that bill. But if the breeder is breeding to reduce health issues, improve and predict temperaments and aptitudes...whether for family pets, search and rescue, gundogs, diabetic alert, seizure detection, show and competition...whatever... they are producing a litter that cannot be predictably found in a shelter.
I am all for saving a shelter dog. I have had many. But I am equally dedicated to producing puppies that will further healthy, disease free, well tempered, predictable to their breed pups that are bred to serve a purpose.
A contientious dog breeder that is breeding to improve their chosen breed should not be painted with the same brush as a breeder that doesn't even do DNA. A pup purchased from a breeder that does all of their due diligence is not taking a home from a shelter dog. The family getting a pup from a breeder is typically looking for something quite specific that is not typically identifiable in a shelter dog.
I only ask that when you hear someone say that "BREEDERS" are a front for puppy mills...know the difference between a breeder that is breeding with a passion for the breed and a breeder that is not. Understand that the puppy that someone buys from an ethical breeder typically can not be found in a shelter

Bella's babies on the way to 1st day of school at Ready To Roll K9 Academy.
Students will graduate in 8 weeks having been socialized to a wide variety of environmental stressors, learned household manners, leash walking, boundaries, impulse control, crate trained and have a rock solid recall.
They are available for career interviews (gundog, search K9, service, family pet) during their training and available to go to their new homes upon graduation.

So I can never preach this enough. XYLITOL in even very small amounts is dangerous and even deadly to your pupper! Always check the labeling on anything that might have artifical sweetener in it. Even some peanut butters do.
This noticification (also known as wood sugar) was just sent to me. Please spread the word.
