Happy Yesterday! The amazing Carmen OBF (Clinton/Heartbreaker) blessed us with another perfect "10". Her 14th perfect foal is by Kanndarco, sire of Sapphire/McLain Ward/USA, Valentina vd Heike/Jos Lansink/BEL, Winningmood/Luciana Diniz/POR and Parco/Ludo Philippaerts. Carmen OBF also has a lovely yearling filly by Kanndarco that has many desirable attributes and worthy of being retained as part of the ongoing breeding program here at OBF. Carmen has produced mostly successful offspring over the years including elite broodmares, performance horses and approved stallions, such as Marcus OBF. She will no doubt be hard to replace as she gets closer to the later part of her career. Thankfully, she has many progeny such as this young c**t who is already loving life and fitting right into the herd.

A sad Goodbye to one of our all-time favorite stallions, Oxford (Burggraaf/Voltaire). We feel honored to have been entrusted with him and proud to have stood Oxford here at OBF from 2002-2004. He was always a gentleman to work with and an absolute superstar in the ring, the big red ham, what an amazing contribution he made to improving the quality of sport horses in Nova Scotia as well as the rest of North America. He was a super fertile stallion whose semen, after even a week in the fridge would "do the job", producing so many amateur friendly and very successful offspring. He will certainly be missed by all of us at OBF who had the good fortune of working with him, as well as all the breeders and Maritimers who have owned and ridden his descendants. Thank you to Pat and Dena for sharing him with us, may he rest in peace. xo

Old Bull Farms is looking for a University Summer Student. (applicant does not have to be a student) We prefer a University Student as they are available in April vs June. This person must be an experienced rider who is not shy about riding young horses (they are already going and under saddle). You would also receive coaching from our experienced rider's. Duties would also include, barn work, farm work, foal care, teaching pony lessons to young OBFer's etc.. You would get a lot of exposure to Equine Reproductive Work and Mare Management. You could also get a lot of exposure to Equine Veterinary Practice if that is your interest. Exposure to Fox Hunting, Hounds and future Hunt opportunities is also included. Old Bull Farms still has some excellent quality frozen semen from OBF Klinton (Clinton/Heartbreaker/Viva Voltaire). His offspring have been second to none, with great brains, great jumping ability and incredible movement. He adds size to a small mare, is homozygous bay and tends to throw nice chrome.. We now only have two broodmares and just used him with our Numero Uno Mare. Guaranteed pregnancy for mares under 12 years of age. If she is over 12 there is a $300 semen fee for non pregnant mares and $1350 for pregnant mares. (Payable in advance) Private message OBF if you are interested with your phone number.

Old Bull Farms is looking to purchase a horse of our own breeding. Either foaled on our farm or by one of our stallions. This horse can be either a mare or a gelding, but a mare is preferred. We would prefer a horse from 5 to 10 years old and suitable as a Field Hunter. This means it does not have to have been or be a great show horse, but should be comfortable on hacks and brave on the road etc. Being able to go out on it's own is also preferred. Old Bull Farm is both happy and sad to report that Marcus OBF has been sold. Happy that he was purchased by a partnership of a prominent breeding farm and a world class Irish Grand Prix rider. Sad because he brought happiness and pride to our farm, competition program and breeding program. Ultimately it is was a little frustrating owning and supporting a horse who was not living and competing in the Maritimes. He will soon be on his way to Florida to compete this winter. We thank Trelawny Farm and Paul O'Shea and wish them and Marcus all the best. A big Thank You to all our working students, Lindsay Bradshaw and Francois Lamontagne for developing such a great horse.

So much fun watching Marcus OBF stepping up with this solid round over this technical course at the Ottawa Equestrian Tournament Modified Grand Prix on Sunday. Despite a few learning moments he showed just how rideable and scopey he can be.

As many of you have noticed on our page, it has been a fun time lately to watch OBF Marcus compete in Québec and Ontario. Some of you seem surprised, but to be honest, I was not. For two reasons: 1) He is a talented horse with a great attitude,. 2) More importantly he has had quality riding and training since he was three years old. Our trainer and friend Lindsay Bradshaw always went above and beyond to ride, school and show him. He never had a bad ride at a horse show and was successful always, mainly due to a good pilot. His results in Bromont and Blainville in the Six and Seven year old jumpers were a source of great pride here at OBF. Lindsay was understandably sad to see him move on and I for one get it. So no matter what he does or does not accomplish, I think people should know how fortunate Marcus was and OBF was to have had such a dedicated and accomplished rider. Sincerely Paul J for OBF
