🐾 **Help Us Support the Farley Foundation This October!** 🐾
We’re excited to announce that throughout the entire month of October, we’re fundraising for the Farley Foundation! 🎉

**What is the Farley Foundation?**
Founded in 2002 by the OVMA, the Farley Foundation honours the special bond between humans and their pets. They provide assistance to low-income seniors, individuals with disabilities, Ontario Works recipients, and those facing challenges such as domestic abuse. With specific eligibility criteria, they’ve disbursed over $6 million to help those in need care for their sick or injured pets.

**How is Clearwater Animal Hospital contributing?**
In memory of every beloved pet, we donate year-round.
This month, we're donating **$5.00 from every nail trim** directly to the Farley Foundation!

**Want to get involved? Here’s how you can help:
💖 **Round Up Your Invoice:** Round up to the nearest dollar
🐾 **Paw Print for the Wall of Fame:** Add a paw print to our Wall of Fame for a $3 donation.
🎁 **Farley Foundation Package:** For a $10 donation, get a keychain, a paw print, and a sticker—while supplies last!
🍬 **Treat Jar & Paw Print:** Make a $25 donation and receive a treat jar along with a paw print—while supplies last!

Thank you for joining us in making a difference for pets and their owners in our community! Every contribution helps keep the bond between people and their pets strong. 💕

Did you know that there are scientific reasons why being a cat person can benefit your health? We say, me-WOW to that! The study even suggests that watching videos of other people’s cats can improve your mood and decrease your negative emotions. Being a cat parent can reduce your stress levels and lower your risk for cardiovascular disease. Even more amazing is that cat chirps have frequencies of 25-150 Hertz that help repair joint damage after an injury. Don't forget that part of taking proper care of your cat includes regular vet visits. Make an appointment with us today by contacting us at 519-253-7204.

Throughout their lifetime, cats have two sets of teeth. Kittens have 26 deciduous baby teeth whereas adult cats have 30 permanent teeth. Remember, a healthy mouth depends on healthy teeth and brushing habits! You should ideally begin brushing your kitten’s teeth when you first bring them home before any discomfort begins, and pause from brushing during the period where their baby teeth are falling out. Not sure what is best for your cat? Contact us at 519-253-7204 to set up a health plan purr-fectly tailored to their needs!

Puppies start teething anywhere between 3-4 months old and can last until the age of 6 to 7 months. You’ll notice an increase in biting and nipping as your puppy loses more baby teeth and adult teeth start to grow in. Most pups decrease their mouthing and biting by the time they are 8 to 10 months old, depending on the breed. To ensure this doesn’t turn into a lifelong bad habit, follow these helpful tips to stop puppy biting. Do you have questions about how to care for your pup? Give us a call at 519-253-7204 and we can provide you with more personalized care. 🐶

If your dog ate candy and you act quickly, there is nothing to worry about. The first thing you need to do is keep your pup near you so you can monitor them in case of an emergency, even if they are not showing any symptoms. Signs of a major problem include choking, vomiting, tremors, or intestinal blockage, which isn’t noticeable at first. If you know what kind of candy your dog got into, you can look up any toxic ingredients in it to be aware of. If they ingested chocolate, call the poison control hotline or us immediately. Keep them hydrated with plenty of water only after talking with us. Be sure to bring them in to see us so we can check to make sure they are in top shape. Call us at 519-253-7204.
