Hi!
My name is Alex. I am the owner of (our soon to be launched) Posh Pooch Grooming Co, taking over the current salon space of The Posh Pooch Inc April 30th, 2024, at which I have been happy to have been working with for the last 2 years.
I wanted to take some time to introduce myself.
Some of our clients may know me as the girl in the back corner with the colourful hair.😂
I have a Saint Bernard mix, four cats, and an axolotl.
I have always been passionate about animals, pet care, and animal awareness.
I had pursued working with human hair, having done a brief apprenticeship, when I finally settled on a compromise - dog grooming.✂️🐩
I have been a pet stylist since 2017, when I started my journey into professional pet hygiene. This lands me at around seven years experience. I have been mentored by women with 10-40 years experience, combining the skills I've learned from them into my own craft. I have been incredibly privileged by working at Lakeshore's The Posh Pooch Inc, learning from some incredibly capable and inspiring co-workers, who have helped shape into the groomer I am today.
I have a well balanced, adaptable style, and am excited to give just about any dog a makeover. Whether you just want a clean and fresh dog, a sharp schnauzer cut, or full coated doodles blow out, I am able to work with you to create a plan and schedule to best achieve your desired look. 🐩
It's my absolute joy to be moving forward with our journey as "the next generation" of passionate dog groomers. Our team currently consists of myself, our manager, Jazmyn, and our bather, Victoria.
I am deeply grateful to play a key role in the maintenance of your beloved fur babies, and am thankful for the chance to know them.

Seniors:
Snoopy is a good example of how grooming looks different as pets age. Snoopy has been with me since the beginning of my career, and is still kicking at the ripe age of 17. Snoopy gets a comfort groom, only when necessary as he doesn't tolerate grooming very well, though he has forgotten that he used to want to bite me. Now he is mostly confused and wiggly. I do not dremel his nails. I try my best to keep his stress as minimal as possible while keeping him maintained. His ears are not trimmed tight and even, because he shakes his head and can't see too well, so objects moving close to his face can stress him out. His paws are not picture perfect, but they are free from matting, and clear enough so he doesn't slip around. His hair is patchy, but he always leaves better off, and with a spring in his step.
Sometimes, you can't get the beautiful long cuts you could when they were young, and that's okay. An efficient, and safe groom is best case scenario with wobbly seniors.
For Snoopy, I take everything as short as possibly to have to do a haircut as infrequently as possible. It's not a work of art, but it's perfect and comfortable for him.

Losing clients to a life long lived is never easy, and it's especially hard when that client is family.
Today, we said goodbye to a very important member of my extended family, Harrison.
Thank you for being the goodest boy, on the table and at home.
