Otto came into the care of Manitoba Mutts with their littermates Vic and Nolan. The 3 week old lil boys were found with their 3 siblings, Jinx, Marge, and Odie, who unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge once arriving to MMDR. They came in extremely dehydrated and malnourished but fought the good fight and came out the other side. Happily they have all gone off to find their fur-ever homes and Otto's family was kind enough to leave this update!

"We welcomed Otto into our lives in September 2024. After losing our beloved dog, Loki, in May, we weren’t sure if we were ready to open our hearts to another dog. But when we attended an adoption fair, everything changed. That’s where we met Otto—and it was love at first sight. Otto is our gentle giant. With his oversized paws and playful nature, he’s a bit of a bull in a china shop, always making us laugh. He’s finally grown into his tail, though it still manages to send items flying off the counter when he wags it! He is the ultimate cuddle buddy, a fan of belly rubs, and an enthusiastic bone chewer. He loves his food, especially the rabbit p**p buffet that he always seems to find on our walks. Bringing Otto home has filled our lives with joy and laughter. We are so happy that this goofy boy chose us as his forever family."

This is what your donations and kindness allow us to do. Thank you!

Cookie was brought in from a spay/neuter clinic because she was emaciated, dehydrated, and littermates were hurting her. She had some bloody diarrhea, was anemic, and was treated for fleas. Luckily Cookie's life has made several improvements and she even found her forever family. They were even kind enough to provide an update:

We were Cookies fosters, she fit in so well with our lifestyle and our other alumni dog, Bella (Stevie, Schitts Creek litter) that we foster failed. The best failure one could have!!
She loves to be in front of the fireplace or lying in a sunbeam, she goes to Little Mountain Park with Bella and friend Molly even when it’s -24, with a coat on of course. She has to meet everyone, dogs included.
She puts the outside tug toys in the dog house and Bella brings them out.
She is a typical naughty puppy, steals mitts, underwear, sandals et, ate the December pages of my appointment book, so I had to confirm with clients since some pieces of paper were missing hmmm. She ate over two cups of dried barley, so a trip to the vet to induce vomiting.
Over all she is a really good puppy and dare I say a smart cookie. Watching the two of them together make us smile several times a day.

Ethan, now lovingly known as Eddy by his fur-ever family, after having some tummy troubles from his coccidia infection. He received IV fluids to help rehydrate him and get him feeling a little better! Eddy has made his recovery and found THE PERFECT family for him!

They helped us out by sending this update!

"Eddy has settled in perfectly! He adjusted to his new family and home so well. Eddy was very excited when we brought him home. We live on a farm with lots of different animals and lots of space for him to run. He was pretty pumped to be smelling all the different smells that come with a livestock farm. He also listens very well out in our barn when we are working with the animals.
We also have 3 kids ages 10, 7, and 5. As well as our other fur babies. 1 dog named Pongo and 2 cats Snickers and Stella. Eddy loves to play with the kids and his brother dog Pongo.
He enjoys the cats but they are still trying to figure him out as to why he approaches them so happy and quickly. But they do get along good.
Eddy loves his toys. When we adopted him he came with a little blue stuffy in the shape of a little bone that used to squeak. He still has it and brings it out of their toy box daily. He also loves socks and the kids teddy bears. He doesn’t wreck them he just likes to take them out of their rooms and show everyone.
When Eddy is excited when you get home or when you call him he has this happy wiggle of his back end and tail when he comes up to you and It’s just the cutest!
Eddy loves his dog beds, but he also loves to sleep on the one end of our couch when he’s relaxing as well as on our bed.
Eddy is an absolute wonderful puppy! He’s great with the kids, farm animals (sheep/goats/cows/horse/donkeys just to name a few) as well as when we have company over he behaves great.
We are so happy that somehow we found Eddy and he gets to be a part of our family."

Age: 12 weeks (2024-10-26) | S*x: Male
Breed: Mixed | Size: L (50-80 pounds)
Mutt-O-Meter: GREEN

Hi. I'm Richy.
I’m a sweet boy who loves to play! I follow everyone around inviting them to play with me. I am not sure what is or is not a toy yet, so I try different things, especially socks and shoes.

I am not yet housetrained but I know how to use the p*e pads (almost every time!). I am a little hesitant to go outside in this cold, and I have not yet gone on any walks, so I don’t know yet how to walk on the leash.

My foster parents don’t crate me, and I sleep okay beside or under their bed most of the night, but I do cry a little when I wake up in the middle of the night thinking that I am all alone.

I am good with children and I love all dogs, but I have not seen any cats yet. I do like to nip when I am playing, so supervision around very small children is important until I grow out of this phase.

All in all, I am a very happy boy who would love to have someone to play with me all day long! Would that be you?

Blue came into the care of Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue and tested positive to parvo-virus. Happily Blue made a full recovery and is now happily with their forever family who were kind enough to supply us with an update.

Blue has been the best dog!! We love him so much!! He is the kindest dog.. not a mean bone to him! He never barks and loves a good belly rub! He loves a good long walk and loves to lay out in the sun in the summer! He loves stealing socks:) He doesn’t eat them… just likes to collect them for us.. lol

He thinks he is a lap dog! And will try to sit right on you. He know a few tricks and will tell anyone where his treats are :)

His favourite words are … car ride, walk, pup cup, treat, Starbucks. He loves a good round of tug. He is not a fan of fetch.. but will play it.

He welcomes everyone into our home with a kiss… he still needs to work on his manners… he just gets so excited when people come over.

He was exactly what our family needed:) He loves the kids and they love him!! However… I am his person.. he is my shadow! We love each other:)

You would never know that he was a super trooper! He is healthy and happy.

Carol, now lovingly known as Frankie by her fur-ever family, came into the care of Manitoba Mutts with a belly full of corn cobs and needed urgent stomach surgery to remove the mass. She ate two corn cobs and blocked off her intestines. She recovered with her foster family and has now found her fur-ever family.

They were kind enough to provide this lovely update!

"We adopted Frankie (previously Carol) last January so it’s almost been a year that we’ve had her.

She is definitely crazy but in the best way. She llves chewing absolutely anything and everything from my kids rooms even though she knows it’s bad. She gives you her little sorry eyes and knows she has us wrapped around her finger.

She has an older furbrother named Duke. She loves him more than he loves her lol but they get along well. They love sleeping together. Duke loves his end and blankets and Frankie is content with a pillow and cold floor (see pic attached).

This summer we realized her love of digging. My husband is not a fan of it. Frankie dug holes in our backyard and drove my husband nuts.

She loves squeaky toys and deer antlers and is always up for a good belly rub.

She has been the best addition to our family. Here are some pics from this past year. "

Cactus, now lovingly called Stella by her fur-ever family, came into the care of Manitoba Mutts when she'd been having diarrhea in her foster home for a few days. She was seen by the vet where she got medications and supportive care.
Unfortunately she declined over the next few days and returned to the vet for supportive care and further treatment. Luckily she has now made a grand recovery and was lucky enough to find a family who LOVES her!

They were kind enough to send us this update:

"Cactus now Stella, settled in right away. I feel like this is where she's always belonged. Especially if it’s on top of her smaller but older sister, she doesn't have a favorite toy. Her main concern is that it's got stuffing to be removed. Especially when her teething mouth needs some pain relief.
She's doing amazing on walks. The colder the better in her opinion. Her silly humans get cold before her energy is all walked out so a nice peanut butter and Greek yogurt lick mat does the trick on those very cold days.
She's been the perfect addition to our home. For a girl that was so sick to start her life she's grown in to such a big ,goofy, wobbly girl. She's really connected with are 2-year-old son, who calls her “Stelwa”. He loves it when “Stelwa” comes to tuck him into bed at night. We did buy her, her own bed but, a good nights rest is much better sleeping with her sister on her smaller bed as cuddled together as possible."

Breed: Mixed | Size: M-L (about 51 pounds)
Mutt-O-Meter: RED (no dogs)

Hi my name is She-ra, I’m just a little over 8 years old and I am looking for my forever home. I’m a smart girl and I know the important commands such as sit, come, stay, and down. I’m very quiet and food motivated which helps with training.

My favourite thing ever is going for walks, long, short, city or country I love them all! When I’m on a walk I might see a squirrel or a bunny and want to chase them but a quick no and I forget all about them. I’m not really into toys but I will engage in a game of chase with you if encouraged.

Right now I live with my foster mom and her three cats. I was very curious about them at first but after a few corrections I pretty much ignore them now. I have my own doggo couch to lay on that I just love and spend most of my time there.

One last thing, I really don’t like other dogs, and need to live in a home without another pooch.

If you are looking for a best friend, adventure pal, cuddle dog, and all around funny bunny that’s me!!
