Here is a bit of an update into the superworm breeding process. Majority, if not all, will turn into the huge beetles I posted a couples weeks ago and lay hundreds of eggs each!

Once these are done turning into a beetle, we already have more superworms ready to do their thing!

Mealworms are very high in protein, moisture and other nutrients.

This is what 1000 Mealworms looks like without the bedding they live in.

Here are a few facts about them:

1. They are packed with nutrients and contain around 16 to 20% protein, 50-60% moisture and 10-12% fat content among other things.

2. They have been shown to improve egg quality from poultry birds that contain these in their diet.

3. They are nutritious to pets in all stage of life, larvae being the most beneficial. This means they don't spoil easy and would likely reproduce first before going bad!

4. The waste that mealworms produce (frass), is a natural fertilizer that is arguably better than high end mineral fertilizer. The better the mealworms are fed, the better the quality of fertilizer.

5. If raised properly, mealworms are a zero-waste feed because every product and by-product of the farming process is beneficial to some form of life!

The juiciest Superworms have been collected and isolated.
Now we wait a week or two for them to turn into some huge "pupa" before they turn into "Darkling Beetles.

This is Chloe, my 10 yr old female Rose-haired Tarantula that I feed mainly crickets but tends to love the occasional mealworm!
