“My boyfriend and I adopted Gadget at the beginning of January 2024. He has so much personality! He’s more like a dog than a cat.. he plays fetch! He’s a cat who demands attention, he doesn’t sleep much and will never say no to play time. He keeps us laughing everyday. We adopted a little girl a few weeks after him, he loves having a little sister to play with.”

Meet Steve McGarrett, a brave and affectionate cat with a heart of gold.

Steve and his brother, Danno, came to D’Arcy’s ARC after their previous owners could no longer care for them. When Steve arrived, it was clear something was wrong with his hip, but his sweet and loving personality shone through despite the pain.

A vet exam revealed a femoral head dislocation, likely from a fall, and on January 16th, Steve underwent major surgery to repair it.

Gotcha Tues-yay Alumni Update 💚🏡

“We recently celebrated Murphy’s (formerly known as ‘Mon Chi Chi’) 8-year adoption anniversary from D’Arcy’s ARC in a special way—by welcoming Yogourt (formerly ‘Opal’) into our family last month! Both ARC Alumni, it’s clear these two were destined to be brothers. They adore cuddling in adorable yin-and-yang shapes, wrestling, and soaking up the sunshine together. Truly two peas in a pod!”

Meet Jiro, the “sushi-roll” of cuddles you’ve been waiting for! 🍣

This 2-year-old big boy was found wandering the streets of Tyndall Park, but now he’s ready to roll into your heart.

Jiro is dark grey with a stoic expression that hides his incredibly sweet and friendly personality. Slow-paced and always up for a snuggle, he’s the purrrfect companion for quiet nights and cozy blankets.

Jiro is FIV positive, but don’t let that hold you back—he can still live a long, healthy life and happily share his home with other neutered or spayed cats. He’s proof that life is better when you take it slow and savour every moment, just like the sushi master he’s named after!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mike Blande, a beloved volunteer at our shelter since 2010. It has been two months since his passing.

Mike was deeply devoted to caring for our adoptable cats, always ensuring they felt loved and safe. Whether it was fixing something broken or lending a helping hand, Mike’s kindness and dedication touched every corner of our shelter. His memory will forever live on in the lives of the animals and people he impacted.

Rest in peace, Mike—you will be greatly missed. 💚

Madame Morrible is a two-year-old enchantress. Found as a stray, she brought along her five adorable puppies—Glinda, Elphaba, Gilligan, ShenShen, and Pfanee—proving she’s a natural caretaker of her own “Oz-some” crew.

True to her name from Wicked, Madame Morrible casts a spell of joy wherever she goes. She’s not just good with other dogs and cats; she’s the life of the party, brimming with playful energy and a knack for turning any moment into a frolic-filled adventure. Far from “horrible,” this delightful dame is ready to charm her way into a forever home with her spirited personality and boundless affection!

When playtime winds down, this cuddle connoisseur loves to curl up in your lap, proving he’s as sweet as his name suggests.

Meet Clawsby, the talkative tabby with plenty to say! 📞

This one-year-old chatterbox was found as a stray in South St. Vital, and now he’s ready to charm his way into your heart—and your ears! Clawsby will keep you entertained with his endless “meow-nologues,” especially when he’s in the mood for snacks (which is often!).

Between his epic zoomies and snuggle sessions, Clawsby is all about keeping you company. He also enjoys the company of other cats. While Clawsby is FIV+, he is as happy as a clam, and can still live a long, happy life with the virus. He can still cohabitate safely with other spayed/neutered felines.
