Bandit 💙Male - Lab X
Born July 14, 2023

Bandit is a sweet and gentle soul who is well behaved, laid back, eager to please and highly affectionate.
His is good with other dogs, and children under 12. He does not live with cats, but has not shown any interest in the ones he's met.
He is fully house trained, knows all his basic commands (including a few cute party tricks) and is extremely respectful of those around him, whether they have two legs or four.
He is eagerly standing by for a new friend to play fetch with and share afternoon naps while snuggling on the couch.
His name my be Bandit, but the only thing he will steal is your heart!💙💙💙

This such an important training routine for your dog. Train them to stay out of the kitchen! Not only for sanitary reasons, but mostly for safety. It so easy to trip over your dog, so easy to spill hot fluid on them, or drop a knife or heavy pot. I'm so glad I learned this lesson early in my training.

Just a little warning regarding the Xmas treat many stores are now starting to stock for dogs at xmas.

Many of these so called treats end up with the dog "enjoying" some time in a veterinary surgery over Christmas.

The vast majority of these rawhide products and treats come from China.

The chews are made from cattle or horse hides and their journey starts with the hides being soaked in a toxic sodium sulphide to remove the hair and fat. More chemicals are used in order to split the hide into layers which is then washed with hydrogen peroxide to give the white "pure" look and remove the rancid smell.
Now comes the pretty festive colours and the glue to form cute shapes.
On testing, these chews have shown traces of arsenic, mercury, chromium and formaldehyde.

If that wasn't bad enough, they regularly cause intestinal blockages, poisoning from chemical residue and choking.
The chews go slippery when wet and are near impossible to get hold of to save a choking dog.

Leave them in the shop where they belong or if some well meaning person buys them for your dog put them safely away for later, then dispatch in the bin!

Please be safe with your dogs!

When it's 30+ degrees outside I don't work my dogs the way I normally would because I consider their comfort and health. Dogs can become dehydrated and heat stressed very easily, ALWAYS have water available on hot days.
I DO still create some fun in the sun by just doing simple things like a recall in the yard. No leash, no formal prep for training. I usually chose to call them from one shady spot to another shady spot. I still expect a proper recall, with a sit, and re-enforce with lots of praise and maybe a treat.
The idea is, that it's still training, it's still re-enforcing a desired behavior, it's still teaching your dog what's expected of them, even though we're not in a formal training session. This is why we spend time training, so it can be used in all situations, even if your just sitting in the backyard.
