This condition is where the area under the tooth becomes visible/exposed due to bone loss caused by periodontal disease. Furcation can lead to infection, pain and tooth loss.
Once we're able to place a probe between the roots (as shown above) extraction is our preferred treatment.
Just like humans, cats and dogs need regular dental cleaning! With regular dental cleanings this can help catch painful oral problems like this one.. this dog felt much better after his procedure! 🦷🐕🐈

With the temperatures starting to warm up and we're getting promising sunshine, ticks are beginning to wake up from their winter sleep and they are hungry! You know what that means it's time to talk about heartworm and tick season!
4DX tests are a preliminary blood test that detects antibodies that suggest exposure to three tick born diseases (Lyme, Ehrlichiosis, and Anaplasmosis) and also tests for the presence of heartworm which is contracted through mosquitoes.
Ticks begin feeding once the temperature has reached 0-4°c for several consecutive days. It is recommend starting tick prevention as soon as those temperatures hit. We transition your pet to a heartworm and tick combination medication in June, which then ends the prevention season typically in November.
