A very important fact to remember:
Having the ability to find distances at 8 to 12 jumps on a horse that was selected and prepared (set up) by your trainer only makes you a good rider. Good riders today are a dime a dozen.
Having the ability to select an unbroken green young horse and develop it to carry a good rider around “A” rated horse shows makes you a professional horseman or horsewoman. These individuals are 1 in a million in todays world and are a dying breed all over the world.
Good riders need to stay humble and recognize that their success belongs to their trainers abilities.
Successful trainers that just sell well trained horses to their clients must also recognize and appreciate the professionals that make up the winning horses they sell to their clients because without the “True” professionals they would not have the ability to run a business.

Three Cups Crackerjack, packer extroidinaire is looking for his next kid to introduce to showing. He is available this season for lease or part board. He is SAFE and yes that is capital letters SAFE !! He is a very willing partner, jumps well, is a very experienced hunter and is happy doing cross rails to 2 foot six. Has a good change and the judges love him! Placed well last season in some Hunter specials at Gold level. Can also do low level dressage , small jumpers, low level eventIng and is lovely out on the trail. He is always a willing and helpful partner who does his best to win a ribbon. Full indoor board is $800 a month with options for full customization to cater for all of your horses needs. Private lessons are $65 each, group lessons are $45 each. We have a variety of highly experienced and professional coaches available. Outside coaches who are suitably qualified are welcome. The arena and barns are all heated for a comfortable year-round boarding experience

Woo Hoo everyone, LESSONS are back on offer; albeit with restrictions, but the horse community in Manitoba are back at training and one on one or private lessons courtesy of the Manitoba government ever so slightly lessening the total grip they had on our sport up until now. Misty River is pleased to announce its resumption of the lesson program for individual or private lessons from Friday, ie the day after tomorrow! Please take note that strict Covid19 protocols are in place; do not come to the barn if you, or a family member, are feeling at all unwell. Masks, hand sanitizer, social distancing and all that good stuff are all very much the order of the day here at the barn and a very strict timetable is in place to ensure no more than 5 persons are in a barn at any one time. But be happy folks; we are back at it; spring is just around the corner and show season is bound to follow!! Be patient folks, but be ambitious, work hard, but play hard too, maintain high standards but be kind about it, but above all, LET'S RIDE!!! If you want to take advantage of a bit of heat in this cold snap, let me know. We have a wait list for stalls presently but I am always happy to chat about plans for the future. We are planning lots of exciting things here at Misty this coming season; dressage shows, hunter/jumper shows, horse trails; you name it. We are all SO EXCITED, so come join us, and enjoy the ride!! The Misty Story

Misty River offers boarding and horse riding lessons for beginner riders through to advanced in groups or private classes, on your own horse or one of our great school horses. We have great facilities including heated barns, indoor wash racks, a huge heated indoor arena for comfortable year-round riding all sitting on 120 acres of lush green pastures. We also offer horse boarding, horse leases and horses for sale. For those thinking of buying their first, or even a new horse, help and advice is available.

Misty River has a long history in the area going back over 40 years. In the past the farm has been a TB breeding facility, a standard bred training stable, a dairy and even a furniture factory. The old name, Elmcrest, came about due to the fact that the land is the highest point in the RM of Ritchot and has a natural abundance of elm trees. It is a long established facility with its own history and sense of place in the community.

The current owners of Misty River, John and Sarah Biron and family, came to Canada from the UK in 2006. The family have a long history of looking after, riding, competing, training and breeding horses all over the world and are now happily settled in “our own little piece of heaven.”

We welcome you to come ride with us, bring your horse if you have one, to develop your riding, train and improve, or just relax and have fun, alongside the noblest of creatures, the horse.
