When winter comes, and this forest next door becomes my daily walking place, I often think of this poem by Robert Frost. It describes better than I can our chosen path that lead us to be here on this market garden farm. It's not clear by the end of the poem if his chosen path comes with regret, but I think I can safely say ours does not.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

We said farewell to two very special farm friends this past couple of weeks 😔 Vanessa has been with us for the past two seasons and is off to new adventures. She brought curiousity, do-it determination and acted as social convener extraordinaire.We will miss her lots! And our student Camille is back in France, nose to the grindstone at school again. She was a delightful, hard working member of our team for the past 3 months. Wishing both these lovely people wonderful days and adventures ahead of them ❤

And that's a wrap for our 2024 market season. Thank you to each of you for coming out to and supporting us and all your local makers, bakers and growers 🥰 The market continues year round, with next week starting at 10 am, and we know lots of great producers continue through the fall and winter, so do be sure to pop in to see them! Have a great winter, and we'll look forward to seeing you all again in the spring!

Marilyn and Bruce are going their separate ways (just for the weekend!). You'll find Bruce Saturday 8-2 with all kinds of lovely veggies (and yes, lettuce is back, but come early 'cause it's gonna fly off the table!). Marilyn will be with a fab assortment of botanically dyed items. There's time to visit both this weekend! Fibre Festival runs Friday 3 to 9 and Saturday 10-4. See you there and there!
