Today’s Feature Friday Cat is Leonard!

Leonard (who was originally named Chrysler) was adopted over 7 years ago but came back into care last summer when allergies developed in the home. He required a dental, which was completed last winter, and is now patiently waiting for his forever home where he can spend his senior years. He is a sweet 10 year old boy who loves people and would make a great companion to most quiet homes. One of Leonard’s favourite pastimes is to sit and look out the window while the sun rays shine down on him. Once he becomes comfortable, he will come to you for pets and cuddles.

While in care, it was noticed that Leonard has some gastrointestinal issues and does require a higher quality food. He gets along with some of the cats at the shelter and would ok with a calmer cat who matched his energy level. He is not a fan of dogs.

Your donations make our rescue cats smile! 😸 Kitties like Dutchess and Eggnog who have upcoming dental procedures, and permanent foster June who just had a dental surgery recently, are able to find some relief from painful dental issues because of our supporters’ generous donations. We have many more dentals scheduled for this Spring, they’re so very necessary but they sure aren’t cheap!

We’re just over $2500 away from our $8000 goal that we really need to reach by our extended deadline (this Friday, March 7th) in order to make sure we are on track to cover all of our current and upcoming vetting expenses. Let’s make that thermometer turn completely red!

Venture is a mischievous sweetheart who is now ready to find her forever home. She came into care with her sister Sophie from outside of the city. Playing and exploring are her favourite pastimes as is always full of energy and often on the go. She loves a good cuddle and will purr up a storm for pets, but she does not like to be picked up. She is a very chatty, chirpy kitty who has lots to say!

She gets along well with her foster siblings and would do wonderful in a home with another cat to play with. She has not met dogs yet. She would do okay with older kids as she can nibble when she gets excited.

Snickerdoodle is the last of his siblings to be adopted. He has chronic upper respiratory issues and will need a home that is familiar with cats. He may be a lifelong carrier and could get flare ups at times of stress. He is a sweet boy who loves people and pets. He is in a home with a young child and does great with them.

He gets along great with other cats. He had a bad experience with loud dogs at an event but may he be okay with cat savvy dogs.

Happy Tails Boq (now Loui)!

Loui was one of the first of his siblings to be adopted. Quickly he became best friends with Luigi, the resident cat and RS alumni, and settled comfortably into his new home. Luigi and Loui are often found napping or cuddling with one another. Loui is described by his adopter as “the sweetest playful little guy who loves cuddles and kisses”. He is adored and cherished by his forever family.

Today’s Feature Friday Cats are Bert & Ernie!

Bert & Ernie are loved and adored by the volunteers at the shelter, but we would be excited to see them find their forever home soon. The boys were adopted as kittens but returned when their owner passed away. These cuddly, affectionate, and playful boys would make a great addition to most homes. They get along with older kids and would love someone who will throw a toy or shake a teaser stick for them. Ernie is the leader of the 2 brothers, and is very adventurous & curious. He gets along with some of the other cats at the shelter but tends to be bossy. Bert was shy when first coming back, but he has opened up and let his loving personality show.

Elphaba brings some good news! We’ve received some new donations since our last “Show Your Love” thermometer update, bringing us just over halfway to our goal of $8000! Thank you so much ❤️

We are excited to be a part of the Glenlea Greenhouse Fundraiser. Last year we raised over $1000 for the rescue!!! They have beautiful plants, flowers, hanging baskets, vegetables and more!

Happy Tails Cocoa (now Beano)!

Beano was adopted in the new year and is doing fabulous in his forever home. At first, Beano was shy in his new home, and spent the first week under the bed or couch. He now loves to nap with his human and is sure that she is not far from his side. Sitting in the window watching the birds or squirrels, playing with his many toys, or having a nap is how he spends his afternoons. Though Beono has a variety of toys, his favourites seem to be hair ties or clips. He loves to purr and chat. He truly has found the perfect home.
