I absolutely adore a good Pomeranian transformation! These fluffy little companions have such unique personalities, and there's something incredibly satisfying about giving them a nice, clean, hand scissor all over. It's almost like an art form! These three boys I recently groomed were an absolute pleasure to work with in the salon. Their cheerful attitudes made the whole experience enjoyable! ❤️

Here are some commonly asked questions about how to care for a Pomeranian's coat:

Is it OK to shave a Pomeranian?
Pomeranians have a lovely double coat made up of a soft undercoat and a longer outer coat, which helps regulate their body temperature. Shaving them is generally not a good idea! While light shaping around the paws and face can enhance their look, shaving the entire coat can actually lead to overheating in the summer. When the hair regrows, it may appear patchy or spotty, losing its natural softness. Instead, regular grooming is the way to keep their coat healthy and stylish!

Are Pomeranians high-maintenance?
These little cuties definitely come with their own set of grooming needs! To keep their gorgeously fluffy fur looking its best, it is recommended that scheduling a visit to your groomer every 4 to 6 weeks is a great way to keep your Pomeranian's coat in top shape. Regular professional grooming ensures that their coat is thoroughly cleaned, trimmed, and styled. Additionally, grooming sessions help manage shedding, especially during seasonal changes. In between visits, brushing at home can minimize matting and promote shine. Engaging in this routine not only keeps their coat looking beautiful but also helps you monitor their skin health and overall condition.

When you have a long-time client whose family has been such a tremendous support throughout your grooming journey, you feel compelled to give back in any way you can.

Tomorrow, our dear client Sydney is scheduled for surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his paw. Earlier this week, his mom reached out to request a home visit for a pawdicure and brush-out, ensuring that Sydney is well-groomed and comfortable during his recovery.

We were more than happy to donate our time this evening to pamper this wonderful boy, making sure he’s looking his best for tomorrow's procedure.

Coyote and Axel are organizing an incredible Halloween 🎃 Boo Bucket fundraiser to help fund their upcoming trip to Missouri Springfield for the North American dockdiving event. With a $5.00 donation, you and your furry friend can receive 3 tickets to enter the draw for an amazing prize! Tickets are available at Sprockett's East 7-975 Thomas Ave and Sprockett's West 12-360 Keewatin St. If you are unable to visit either location and still want to participate, we can also accept E-transfer donations. We will then send you a photo of your tickets and ensure they are entered into the draw at your preferred location.
The draw will be held on October 21st

Important Announcement!

We have some upcoming dates when we will be away from the Salon:

- August 17th: We will be away, but we will resume our regular grooming hours on August 18th.
- August 23rd at 1pm to August 25th: We will be away, but we will resume our regular grooming hours on August 26th.
- We will also be away on August 30th and 31st, but we will resume our regular grooming hours on September 2nn after the long weekend.

Meet the Groomer

Hello my name is Lucille, and I am the groomer for ! Grooming is more than just a job for me – it's my lifelong passion. I've been interested in becoming a groomer since the age of six, when I was captivated by my grandmother grooming her toy poodle. My grooming journey officially kicked off at 15 when I started as a bather. Since then, I have honed my craft through apprenticeships, grooming academies, and countless seminars and workshops.

With an impressive 19 years in the industry, I have worked my way up from being a bather to where I am now, on the cusp of achieving my master groomer certification. I take immense pride in grooming all breeds of dogs, regardless of size, and have recently expanded my expertise to include cat and small animal grooming.

These two pups were shaved for medical purposes but it is important to understand that shaving double-coated dogs such as golden retrievers, German shepherds, and Siberian huskies is not recommended, except for medical reasons such as skin disease or extreme matting. Shaving these breeds can lead to severe skin problems and may prevent the coat from growing back properly. Double-coated dogs have muscles in their skin that help with heat dissipation, and removing their outer coat can disrupt this natural process, potentially making the dog hotter. Therefore, it's best to avoid shaving double-coated breeds unless necessary for medical purposes.
