Our team was back at the CARE Winnipeg Pet Community Outreach Program outreach office today spaying/neutering cats and dogs owned by low income City of Winnipeg residents!
Today's total was 3 female dogs, 1 male dog, 9 female cats and 3 male cats (2 of whom were cryptorchid.)
What is cryptorchidism? This is a condition in male animals where 1 or both of the pet's testicles fail to descend from their abdomen into their sc***um. Male pets who are cryptorchid are at high risk of developing cancer in their undescended testicles so it is extra extra important to have them neutered!
Our patient in the pic is "Mavrick Malone." He was one of our cryptorchid male cats today and he required a more involved abdominal surgery that went super smoothly, he did great and is back at home recovering! Way to go Mavrick, we're here for you as your veterinary team, and we're so relieved you're now neutered!
Thank you to all the pet owners who trusted us today with their furry family members, it was our pleasure to meet and treat them!
Did you know? Funding for the surgeries for these pets in need is provided by city pet licensing funds through Winnipeg Animal Services and support is provided by the Winnipeg Humane Society
