Watch Newt practicing leave it, Newt LOVES canned food so much his tail gets poofy from excitement but he knows that a faster way to earn the reward is to sit nicely on his place.
If a cat can learn this, so can your dog.

Scent work is beneficial for dogs because it offers an outlet for their natural instincts and provides mental stimulation.
By tapping into their incredible sense of smell, scent work offers dogs a fun and rewarding way to use their brains, which helps keep their mind healthy.

Bentley is working on leash manners, no pulling. He normally needs to wear a head halter, so I want to teach him to make better choices.
Pulling and then getting to where he wants is a reinforcement, which means if he finds pulling reinforcing, he will continue to pull. So without punishment (no collar popping or aversive tools) we just simple remove the reinforcement (going back inside) and then reward him for the correct behaviour. Bentley will learn that his behaviors can dictate his reinforcement, making better choices in the future.
Don't wait for a dog to make a mistake and then correct them, try to guide them to making better choices instead. This creates a more thinking dog that will anticipate what you want and choosing to do the behaviors we expect from them. Making your bond stronger instead of weakening it by correcting them all the time.
Imagine having a job where your boss only corrects you after you make a mistake rather then guide and show you how to do it correctly in the first place.
We have bootcamps available next week www.dumbledogs.com
Bring your dog so they can learn how to make good decisions.
