Fish Fact Friday! 🪸🐠🪼
Featuring the Emperor Angelfish
(Pomacanthus imperator)

The Emperor Angelfish is a large marine fish native to both the Indian and Pacific ocean. They are highly sought after in the aquarium trade due to their striking colours as a juvenile and adult. It was once believed that the young angelfish were a different species entirely due to the drastic change in their appearance as they reach maturity. In the wild the Emperor Angelfish eats sponges and algae but will happily accept all types of prepared foods once in the aquarium!

Wee Critter Wednesday!
Featuring the Red-White Cleaner Shrimp
(Urocaridella antonbruunii)

The Red-White Cleaner Shrimp is a small species of cleaner shrimp only reaching a maximum size of 1.18 inches / 30mm. In the wild their diet consists of parasites, copepods and debris from the sea floor. They can often be seen trying to attract fish by waving their claws side to side in order to feed off of any potential parasites and mucus on the fish. With their unique appearance and memorable personalities the Red-White cleaner shrimp is a fantastic addition to any nano reef tank!

Fish Fact Friday! 🐠🐡💙
Featuring the Mandarin Dragonet
(Synchiropus splendidus)

The Mandarinfish is a small brightly coloured fish native to the Pacific Ocean from the Ryukyu Islands all the way to Australia. These fish are sexually dimorphic with males having a much more pronounced and longer dorsal fin then females do. They are also scaleless fish which means they instead produce a layer of mucus to protect themselves from diseases and parasites.
