This week we celebrate National Veterinary Technician Week! 🎉 🩺🐾

We would like to take a moment to honor all of our nurses who play a crucial role in animal healthcare and well-being. Registered veterinary technicians work hand in hand with the veterinarians to provide the best care for every patient. Although their responsibilities seem endless, they are most commonly seen obtaining and processing diagnostic images and laboratory tests, administering and dispensing medications and treatments, as well as preparing and assisting in surgical procedures.

Thank you Shari, Gwendolyn, Erin, Bree, Sonya, Sydney, and Jena for all the hard work you do. Your dedication never goes unnoticed and is greatly appreciated!

Meet Argus ✨ He came in for a booster vaccine and what a difference one month makes! The first picture he is 3 months old and the second he is 4 months. He is going to be a big boy. We can’t wait to watch him grow 🐾🐶

We are excited to announce that Dr. Buchel has joined our team! 🩺🐾🥼

Dr. Buchel was born in the USA but made Winnipeg her home in 2004. Prior to attending the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, she studied genetics at the University of Manitoba.

She has two cats named Milo and Otis who offer a constant source of amusement and in her free time she enjoys baking, hiking, and the occasional game of squash.

Her professional interests include animal wellness and behavior, preventative medicine, diagnostic imaging and general surgery.

We are looking forward to working with Dr. Buchel!

The clinic will be closed on Friday, March 29th, for Good Friday. We are open regular hours Saturday March 30th from 9am-4pm, closed Sunday, and open Monday April 1st 8am-6pm.

Flood restoration and repairs are nearing completion at our clinic!

We will be accepting appointments starting on Wednesday March 20th, 2024. While we will be open, some areas of the clinic will be under repair for a while longer, so please be patient with us.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you and your furry companions again, just in time for spring parasite prevention season. Call the clinic at 204-586-9721 to schedule your pet's appointment.

March 5th update:

Machray Animal Hospital will be open at a very limited capacity on Tuesday, March 5th for food and prescription pickups only. Service will be slower than usual, please be patient with us.

We encourage that only clients with critical food and prescription pick-ups come down on March 5th. Our front door is out of service and will be locked. Staff will bring food and prescriptions out to the parking lot for you. At this time we encourage payment over the phone and will accept credit or exact cash, no debit.

When you arrive, please call 204-586-9721, and wait by the front entrance in your vehicle for a staff member to call you back. Payment will be taken over the phone, then a staff member will bring your order and receipt to you.

As always, we thank you for your patience, and will continue to update as renovations progress.

Our flooring repairs are taking longer than expected, needing multiple layers of leveling compound (ongoing) before the flooring can be installed.

As such, the clinic will be closed on Monday, March 4th.

This delay may also impact our business Tuesday, March 5th and Wednesday, March 6th. We will post again on Monday with instructions regarding food and medication pickups for our clients on those days.

Please note that our clinic must close for phase one of flooring installation starting this Friday, March 1st through Monday March 4th.

The good news is that this is ahead of our predicted schedule, but the downside is the short notice.

To our clients with food or prescription pickups, please arrange to get them by Thursday, February 29th if urgently needed.

It is possible that the clinic may be able to accommodate food and prescription pickups on Monday, March 4th, but it at all depends on how smoothly the flooring installation is going. Call before coming down just to be sure!

This first phase is to replace flooring in the waiting/reception area, our front 2 exam rooms, and the treatment/kennel area. After that is done, our front desk, exam tables, and shelving need to be rebuilt, and our xray machine, lab, pharmacy will be moved to the renovated area so that the same process can be completed on the other half of the building. This will take at least until mid March.

We appreciate the care and concern of our loyal clients, and their support through this process. We will keep you posted as we near our re-opening, and we look forward to being able to serve you in our full capacity this spring.

Construction update and modified clinic hours:

We have approval from insurance to begin our flooring and wall repairs. We are not able to see patients at the clinic until repairs are up to veterinary hospital code.

We will be open for prescription medication and food pickups Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday of this week. We will be CLOSED on Thursday and Friday for removal of flooring.

Hours for February 13th-19th:

Tuesday Feb 13th: 8am-6pm
Wednesday Feb 14th: 8am-6pm
Thursday Feb 15th: closed (flooring removal)
Friday Feb 16th: closed (flooring removal)
Saturday Feb 17th: 9am-4pm
Sunday Feb 18th: closed
Monday Feb 19th: closed (Louis Riel Day)

Water damage update:

We have completed evaluations with our restoration company. It has been determined that all of our clinic flooring needs to be replaced and most of the lower drywall, along with painting of all of the walls.

Our parking lot is undergoing repair due to a large sink hole.

Our repair team is preparing their estimate and sourcing materials, and soon all of our old flooring will be removed. Due to large gaps in our walls and exposed subflooring that cannot be properly disinfected, we are still unable to see patients at the clinic at this time.

We hope to have at least 2 exam rooms ready by early March for scheduled appointments. We will keep you updated on this process.

We are still open regular hours for prescription medication refill requests and food orders.
