This collection was one of the best-selling collections, thank you! I was particularly touched by the popularity of the Lewis & Clark Pass, and the kind messages that so many of you sent me. Lewis gives each of you a happy snort and Clark gives you a giant balance-adjusting head nudge.
I am not participating in any other markets this year. While I had hoped to, my life has had other plans and you won’t see me at any markets until 2025.
So, if you have your eye on these prints, online is the only way to get ‘em. My turnaround time is pretty quick these days (1 week or less at the moment) and buckle collars ship for $5 across Canada. The only items that are currently out of stock are the 1” width Mountain Pass collars & leashes, with a restock planned for Sept.
The Autumn collection is currently being proofed by the webbing supplier, so hopefully that’s here late Aug/early Sept!
I’ve been doing this market since its inception, and it’s my fave. Over the years, I’ve accrued some tips:
💰 Bring cash! This is wilderness, and the wifi is spotty. Bringing cash ensures that you’ll be able to buy what you want without issue.
🛍️ If you have your eyes (paws) set on something specific, please come early in the market! I do my best to have a good variety of stock, but some prints will sell out quickly. Shop early for the best selection.
✏️ If you are in the market for a new collar, the easiest way to size the new one is to bring your old collar! I’ll post a video in the next day or two of how to measure a collar if you don’t want to bring it along. Grubby collars? Old collars? All are welcome.
🐶 Bring your dog if your dog enjoys being in public. They have to wait outside (the good folks of Third + Bird also love dogs and there’s always doggy water dishes outside), but your fave collar maker will come outside and do a free consult 😘

Have you tried our leashes? I developed our beloved double-handled leashes to help train our reactive Great Dane, Clark, after we rescued him. I knew I liked my leashes, but I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed them until I had to buy a tiny useless leash for the baby girls! For everyone who has ever said I need to make skinnier leashes…I understand that now 😅

🌸 Persephone 🌸
Pronounced Per-seff-oh-nee, as in the Greek Goddess of the underworld and Spring growth, Miss Percy is quite opposite from Pebbles. When we first got her, she was terrified and trembling in the back of her kennel. I was syringe and finger feeding her the first night. Shortly thereafter, she discovered the joy of belly rubs and this was the preferred method of pats. She still loves belly rubs to this day!
Percy is very patient with Pebbles, who can be a bit intense. Her favourite thing to do is chase her mini tennis balls around - she can entertain herself for an hour doing this! She also LOVES running top-sp*ed circles around the main floor of our house, and in our yard. She is deceptively fast, and always looks 10/10 happy when she’s running around. She remains the more fearful of the two, and is particularly leery around men. We’ve been working hard to increase her confidence and introduce her to new situations and people. She also loves being brushed and sits very quietly for any kind of grooming activity.

🪨 PEBBLES 🪨
This little lady has been a going concern! When we got her, she weighed 1.32kg and was absolutely tiny. We were told that she was the more confident of the two pups, but despite this, we were initially concerned that she would be overpowered by Persephone. Wrong! This scrappy little munchkin is all rough and tumble. We decided that the name Pebbles captured all of these attributes!
She has a very distinctive bark, loves to cuddle (primarily while sitting on my collarbone area), loves ANYTHING she can chew (+some stuff she should not be chewing) and remains the braver, more confident pup. She will often take the lead in new situations, checking back in with Percy to report back. Her preferred method of walking is by jumping, hopping, pouncing, and zooming. She is very food motivated and somehow always looks disheveled. We absolutely love her poofy, messy hair!
She remains pint-sized with a neck measurement of just over 7”, and a weight of 1.9kg (just over 4lbs). She has been catching on quickly to all of her training, and has captured the hearts (and fingers) of everyone who’s met her so far.

Welcome Pebs!
Over the last few months, we have been looking to add a dog to our family. If you’ve lost a pet, you know how real the grief is and also how quiet (and empty!) your home feels. We had fostered one dog, Baxter, and had applied to adopt a few others through local rescues. Dogs without interest - who we applied for - got magically scooped up within days of us applying. I started joking that I was a good luck charm.
On May 15, our city was rocked by the news of a horrific 68 dog mass seizure. 68 dogs were seized from atrocious conditions, all brought into animal service agencies. On May 16, I emailed the Winnipeg Humane Society to indicate that we could foster one or two of these poor pups. That same day, they returned my inquiry and asked if we’d be willing to foster two, 8-week old female Maltese puppies.
Despite not having had a puppy in nearly 15 years (since Lewis’ puppy days), of course we said yes. Both pups were less than 2kg each, and both had been given an emergency groom upon being seized as the dogs were all covered in urine, f***s, and matts. Their fur was still stained from the amount of excrement. One of the pups was so terrified and shut down that I was syringe feeding her water as she cowered in the back of the kennel. Of course, I immediately fell in love.
Over the weeks that followed, a small identity crisis set in. Me, lover of giant and black dogs (and only having ever had male dogs), had fallen in love with two little white female poofs. What’s more, we had agreed that the next dog we brought into our home (on a more permanent basis) would be a small dog, to be followed in the coming years by another Great Dane. Just to make sure I was listening to the universe: my husband had a Maltese growing up, and also grew up on the exact street that these two were seized from. These two girls had obviously entered into our lives for a reason.
Fast forward through the last 1+ month of having our pups as fosters. Due to the seizure, these pups were living off the social media grid. Dozens of p*e pads, tons of laundry, several sleepless nights, endless puppy snuggles, trying to remember how to manage not one but TWO puppies, and an existential crisis later…we are delighted to welcome both pups into our family. These two couldn’t be more different, and we couldn’t love each of them more. They’ll each get their own posts across the next couple days, but for now, I’m so delighted to be able to finally introduce the newest members of our crew: Pebbles and Persephone (Percy, for short). Please help us welcome them to our family! ❤️

In addition to being famed explorers, there’s a whole mountain pass named after Lewis & Clark. This earth-toned collar has shades of green, tan and teal. Pair it with brass or antique brass (shown here in a 1.5”) hardware to complement the colours within the collar, or try silver hardware for more contrast.

Best boy Baxter is up for adoption at the , so I went to visit him yesterday. After a short period with us, this pup had my heart. He is absolutely full of love, is clumsy, prefers to plop abruptly rather than gracefully sit/lie down, and occasionally suffers with the Inside Out Ear Syndrome (2nd photo). He loves when you can find his scratches for him, and does the full body lean into the humans when he can. He loves having his neck, face, and haunches scratched. His skin is healing well and the hair around his eyes is regrowing quickly. Despite his past life, he seems to adore all humans and loved the other dogs he met with us. He’s a great walking partner and learned some leash manners very quickly. He only likes squirrels and deer for the purpose of chasing for potential capture. See my stories for a video of his adorable fetch skills, and see the last photo for genuine happiness (PS: that could be you with this boy, or any of the other amazing pups at right now).

Baby boy Baxter weekend photo dump.
I feel like I’ve know this pup longer than 3.5 days! From the frozen, terrified, sad boy we picked up Thursday night, Baxter has really come out of his shell. He loves pats (especially scratches), deep eye contact (you look at him and his tail starts wagging), food and treatos, climbing trees after squirrels, lots of walks, and his squeaky toys (he hasn’t de-squeaked a single one). He does not like deer (unless permitted to capture them), being alone, our wooden blinds (RIP), or carrots.
Baxter is our first foster and we are learning lots! Special thanks to my foster mentor who has checked-in on us and offered her wisdom.
PS: we’ve had orbs showing up in so many photos at different times of day. Some suggest (and I believe!) that orbs in photos represent the spirits of our loved ones. In our case, I think these orbs are Lewis & Clark, joining Baxter on our walks. Check out the orbs in the first two photos ✨ .
We have a BIG surprise (to the tune of 80lbs).
Meet Baxter, our first foster from ! This 18 month old has had a tough start and is being treated for mange. When I saw this boy’s photo I knew he needed our home. When they brought him out today, I nearly sobbed when they brought him out (our first meeting). I saved my little sob for the car, but this boy is beautiful. The oldest soul in a neglected body. We will get our own dog(s) again in the future, but for the next few weeks we will love Baxter as our own.
PS I could not stop smiling. My heart is full.

Named in honour of one of my favourite pups, Cinco, this collar is perfect for Cinco de Mayo (May 5). These colours are bright, fun, and saturated and look amazing on all dogs, including (my fave) black dogs!

Quick update from me: I had hoped to re-open by now (mid-March). The truth is, I’m not ready to re-open yet. I’ve made a couple collars for friends and the grief still outweighs the joy, which tells me I’m not ready yet.
I told myself I wouldn’t rush back into it, and I’m trying to honour that. I’m still working on things behind the scenes here and there, and still planning the development of a new product, but I’m going to take a little bit more time to do that. 🖤
This handsome goofy boy, Axel, has been in shelter at the for 45 days. I went to visit with him again today and he is truly a delight. He loves his ball, treatos, and human snuggles. 🖤 PS dog mom voice remains intact!
My beautiful boys, Lewis & Clark, are home again. They went on a voyage through Canada Post, to be made into this absolutely stunning custom ring by featuring each of their ashes. Clark’s ashes are much darker than Lewis’, and I love how they came together in this piece. Swipe to the second photo for a close-up.
As they travelled through the mail, I pictured Lewis licking everyone he met, barking at nothing, and running around the backseat of whatever vehicle he was in. I pictured Clark taking up the entire backseat of any vehicle, always with his head out the window, tongue blowing in the wind, and making every person who drove by smile. This was their last great adventure together.
In my heart, I always felt Lewis & Clark would pass in close succession. When Lewis died last September, I found this ring and knew this would be one of the pieces that I would remember them both by. I love the idea that they are together, as one, close to me forevermore. 🖤🖤
Some of you may have caught my stories last week regarding this handsome young boy, Axel!
Axel has been at the for a few months now and is ready for his forever people. He had a tough start to his young life, and through no fault of his own came into shelter.
This big pup is just that - a puppy! He is just over a year old and he still has his goofy puppy brain. Sometimes people forget that big dogs start off as big puppies, but big puppies are no different than smaller puppies, aside from their size. This guy is working so hard to learn manners that had never been taught to him, and to learn social skills that he never had a chance to practice. He has a heart of gold and is so eager to please. He absolutely loves food and especially treatos which will help to teach this pup all the things he wants to learn. He’s not sure about other dogs, and due to his big-puppy status is probably best around older kids. He wouldn’t mean to knock anyone over, but he might in his excitement to say hello!
I’ve spent several hours visiting with this boy at and absolutely adore him. I also decided he needed a proper collar for this next phase in his life, enter Buffalo Plaid (always my first choice for black dogs). He is eager to play, show off his sitting skills, and loves his toys. He loves people and has the giant-lap-dog vibe down to a tee. Both times I visited him he settled in for good snuggles after playing, and fell asleep with his head (and or paw) in my lap.

I’m still here. Still grieving. Still trying to figure out what to do with this little business, and how to do it. Having a business centred (and named) around your two dogs - both now deceased - is a hard thing to navigate. To be honest, I’ve strongly considered closing my business several times over the past few years. It’s been a rough 3+ years for business with an acute turned chronic illness, decreased sales, and - most notably - the loss of the two best boys.
For now, I’m still planning to reopen. My goal is to reopen by mid-March, and to include a new product to hopefully breathe new life into this business. This business doesn’t work without you. Without you sharing and liking posts and products you enjoy, spreading the word to others, and purchasing from my small business when you can.
One of the sole reasons I have chosen not to close this business is to honour the legacy of Lewis & Clark. This business was made because of them, and I know my logo tags featuring both of them adorn the necks of thousands of dogs worldwide, and that’s a pretty cool thought and a pretty amazing way to honour them. Thanks for sticking around during this period of loss, and see you soon 🖤🖤

This handsome goofy boy, Axel, has been in shelter at the @winnipeghumanesociety for 45 days. I went to visit with him again today and he is truly a delight. He loves his ball, treatos, and human snuggles. 🖤 PS dog mom voice remains intact!
Missing this big fella a lot the last couple days. I’m thankful I took so many photos and videos, even though it will never seem like enough. My advice: take videos of your dog doing the things that make you smile. Don’t wait for another time, and don’t wait until your living room is the perfect backdrop, just take the video. You’ll thank yourself later. This video is Clark’s true self. He was very vocal (as many Danes are) and he definitely makes it clear what he wants here. Guys. This is the exciting news I hinted at earlier today! A couple weeks ago, I was asked by @thirdandbird if I would participate in their Artist Stories video series. This was WAY out of my comfort zone (listening to the sound of my own voice? HALLLP). Alas. Part of business is doing scary things that you trust will help you grow. And, thanks to the encouragement of friends, family, @thirdandbird and the expertise and creative prowess of @jeremywat , this video was made. You’ll catch Lewis and I, and a never seen before collar 😏 I brought Clarky to @woofsnwags that day, because as much as I would have loved to have beautiful video of us together, he remains anxious and fearful around humans. He had a great, stress free day at his favourite place (other than his twin sized mattress in my living room 😅). It takes a village, and I have a great one surrounding me, and my business. 💖 . . . . Just a little time lapse of some of the collars I’ve made over the past few weeks! I had them in a smaller bin awaiting product label sewing, but the bin was overflowing so here we are!
